Good for the home studio
I like the sound and have had zero issues with these.
I use mine with their HSW8 as I run a lot of synths and need that lower spectrum covered.
Would recommend.
Great but not for close monitoring
These are great pair of monitors but I can hear an inherent noise floor because I use them close to me in my small studio, especially if the studio is quiet. this noise is present even if there's nothing connected to them, so is not my system. Is not too bad but it can be heard in my case at about 1.2 meters. The noise is hard to hear at about 2.5 meters. Once you play sounds it is imperceptible. I used cheaper monitors and their noise floor is not perceptible at this distance, I really have to put my ear close to the cone to hear the noise. Anyways, I hope you find this helpful.
The difference with my previous obscure speakers is immediately obvious. The sound quality suits me perfectly.
Obviously, for small rooms, you need to think carefully about the acoustics, especially the walls behind the monitors, otherwise the bottom starts to buzz there. Someone here wrote that he had a constant hum from one column and the problem was not solved even with a replacement - I had this too, but it was worth changing the outlet and the hum went away. So do not rush to change the product until you try to plug it into another outlet)
Perfect monitors!
Amazing monitors, I doubt you can find anything better at this price point. I have used them for 5 years now and I'm extremely satisfied.
Best In Class
there is a reason why everyone suggests these legendary speakers, they are an industry standard for the mid-low quality studio monitors, but they provide a sound that is balanced and clean, the Hs5 in comparison are a much less bassy option.
Excellent monitor speakers
I have a pair of KRK Rokit RP8 which I use to DJ with. I bought these Yamaha's because of the flat sound I need for DJ production. I use these in combination with a Focusrite 2i4.
However, because I'm so used to these speakers now I am much more inclined to use these for my DJ sessions too. They portray a very fair sound spectrum. The KRK's can make you tired when you listed to them too much (because of the V-shaped sound signature), but these Yamaha's just keep you energized throughout.
I have also experimented using these for smaller parties (max 50 people) in combination with 1 or 2 active subwoofers, but have noticed that they fall short in that regard. Of course, these are not made for such events.
However, a producer friend of mine also has these Yamaha's in 10" format. Those speakers just blew me away in how much they can handle. They give a balanced sound output, combined with loudness and punchy bass. I might also have to replace my KRK's with the 10" Yamaha's now for my DJ sessions.
I sometimes have listening sessions where I connect the Yamaha's to my Spotify and listen to new songs. This is also a very pleasant and enjoyable experience.
All in all very satisfied with the speakers. I can recommend them for both music production and DJ sessions. You will not be dissatisfied.
yamaha HS7
these monitors are excellent and produce an exclusive sound. It is a speaker you should look into and is surprisingly affordable.
Best speakers I've ever owned!
These are literally the best speakers I've ever owned.
The sound is crispy clear, I can hear each detail in a song.
The bass is not overwhelming, it feels well balanced.
Only thing I can say that there aren't many features on the back of the speaker and it has some slight build imperfections which are not very noticable but when you do see them, they're a bit triggering. 😅
Excelent speakers
I wanted a simple set of speakers to stream mostly Spotify and Netflix (TV) material via a Bluetooth interface. These speakers fulfill this requirement perfectly and their looks are also impressive. Bought this set as a present for my daughter and she is a very happy camper with both the sound and looks.
