Bought the cello a few months ago and have been experimenting with it non stop. It is a perfect companion for a cellist who wants to play something a bit more modern. The sound is very high quality yet has a unique tone and an elegant look to it. Pros: The sound of a typical piezo cello pickup comes nowhere near the quality of this electric cello. Currently I am doing non-classical music concerts with it and it solves a lot of problems that I had with an acoustic cello. It is easier to set up, doesn't get feedback in the monitors and works better with pedalboards. It is also easier to transport as it's parts are detachable and fit into a small gig bag. Cons: At first it is a bit weird to play in loud environments because you don't feel the resonance of the body and you have to have a...

Everything was very neatly packed and arrived without a scratch. The instrument looks gorgeous. It's way smaller than acoustic cellos, and also way smaller than most electric ones I have seen. The craftsmanship looks flawless. It's manufactured in Czech Republic, by the way. The instrument comes bundled with a tripod stand and I also got the frame strap system for it (separate review on that one). The bridge height in this instrument is adjustable via two screws through the body and the neck has a truss rod like on electric guitars and basses. The tuners seem to be standard guitar tuners, which is a huge improvement over traditional cello tuners! They have 12:1 ratio and while not the most accurate tuners out there, they make my life way easier and there is no need for extra fine tuners...

I've been wanting to take up Cello for quite some time but have never had the space or capital to actually make a purchase. I decided to take the plunge and go for the HB e-Cello (in white). It arrived promptly, packaged well with plenty of bubble wrap. I was slightly nervous when unboxing. It comes in a disassembled state, strings are attached but loose and under the fingerboard. The thigh/back rests come in a pocket on the front of the "gig bag". Removing the headstock (box?) was a little tricky with the shape. The bag itself is a bit flimsy (I've got another case coming which'll mean I won't need to disassemble every time I want to travel with it). Setup is straight forwards, couple of screw pins keep the rests in place, strings are easy to tune/fine tune and tuning pegs...

This is a super instrument. It feels good, responds well and has a good tone - FOR WHAT IT IS. It's a good idea to remind yourself you're not buying an acoustic 'cello. Once you've recorded this DI, you'll need to do a fair bit of work on EQ and ambience to make it sound natural. I haven't as yet tried playing it through an amp and mic into the desk; that might give it a different life. But if you're after an electric 'cello, and are fine trying to play around to get a good tone - this is really brilliant.

NS Design make great electric cellos. The NXT series are their lower end tier, but with the same comfortable ergonomics like the CR. Sounds quality is quite fantastic for the price, with great bow response at any volume set via the dedicated knob. However, when the treble knob is set at the highest level, there's definitely some hissing and something that sounds like clipped highs when playing high on the A string. At the other end, no treble results in a muddy sound for my taste. Solution is simple: find a balance somewhere at 80-90% (the treble increase is definitely not linear). For picking, the second pickup position is frankly incredible. This cello sounds worlds better than most of my guitars. Clean patches on my Axe Fx sound incredible. If distortion is desired, you can make it...

I bought this electric cello to give the cello a try without much reservations. I had played a cheap Harley Benton Stratocaster and based on this experience, I was sure that I'd get an affordable yet well-built instrument. I wasn't disappointed. This electric cello sounds surprisingly good and is actually rather loud even when played without any amplification - to the extent that I opted to buy a mute for it in consideration of my dear neighbours. It is a solid choice for a beginner or someone (like me) who wants to try out cello without spending a fortune on it.

This is the first electric cello I have ever purchased. I bought it as a practice instrument, as I currently don't have access to my acoustic cello. I wasn't sure whether I would enjoy playing on this electric cello. Happily, I have found it to be very good. It makes a quite decent sound -- a bit rough at times, and some strings sound better than others, but it serves my purpose. I have used the strings provided. I imagine that the sound would be improved if I purchased more expensive strings. Initially, I found it a little difficult to figure out how to transmit the sound to my headphones or to an amp. I found that I need to fiddle with the connection point to get it to work, but that has not been a problem. I use my own bow, but the bow provided with this instrument is quite good too....

I'm coming from the point of view of a novice cellist, but a lifelong musician. I wasn't surprised by the tone of the electric cello. It is weak and needs digital effects to craft its beauty. The piece itself is wonderful to play, although I bought the additional stand (it's broken though). I would recommend the product. But not the handling. If you live in the UAE it will cost you 50 Euros to deliver and an extra 10% of the total order to COLLECT from a local post office; they did not deliver to the address I asked them to. DHL have delivery vehicles and offices, however, instead use Emirates Post who have very poor customer and organization.

So, you've come across this electric cello before, but there wasn't a positive (or negative) review in sight. Should you buy it? Well, that depends on what you're looking for. This is a very sturdy, electric cello. It works remarkably well with distortion and overdrive pedals, but it is also able to produce a sound similar to that of an acoustic cello, albeit amplified by using a piezo pickup. Do note that it sounds a bit more metallic, but that may also be because of the quality of the set of strings it came with, combined with the metallic bridge. Looking at it while wearing it, it looks like quite a contraption. Is it comfortable to wear? Well, you may not be able to play it comfortably right out of the box, because it requires some adjusting in order to accommodate your body type....

The instrument has excellent finish. I love the fast neck. Six strings may feel weird for a classical cellists but the capabilities they offer are worth of the while. Great bass and violin sounds on additional strings. The instrument has a lot more possibilities adjusting the tone of the instrument than traditional electric cellos. However the line sound is still not a cello sound. Works great on band recordings but would not play it on solo or on professional acoustic recordings. Instrument sounds incredible acoustically though. Being without acoustic body it plays really silently.
