Zultan 14" Dune Hi-Hat
Hi-hat cymbal

Nice sounding hi hat but the volume is too low for me
This hi hat has a delicious dark and trashy sound, full of body and low frequencies. Could be perfect for jazz, blues and acoustic music, i was loocking for a second hi hat to be mounted at the right hand of the kit as i play double bass and i searched a trashy sound different from my 14” Paiste dimensions main hi hat. The sound is really nice but the volume is too low, and as i play quite aggressive rock this cymbal is unfortunately not suitable for me.
If you are looking for hi-hats with a dark, trashy and earthy sound, a low pitch and a short sustain you shouldn?t look any further. Being very light, they are very responsive (the most responsive hi-hats I?ve ever tried), but at the same time they emit a loud bark when teased ? they are sizzling-hot and trashy when played open and they have a loud chick sound. The Zultan Dune series is conceptualy similar to the Meinl Byzance Extra Dry series ? very thin, raw and heavily hammered uppersides, lathed and polished undersides ? but while Meinl Extra Drys have raw bells (on the upperside) the Zultan Dunes have a highly polished bell, that probably accounts for an extra crispiness. The other difference is that these hi-hats cost less than half the price of their Meinl Extra Drys counterparts. As a matter of fact, they took the place, in my drum kit, of the Paiste Signature Dark Energy Mk.I hi-hats, that cost four times more.
