E205 : Good alternative for the money
I use this microphone for some general usage at my desk in my recording studio, including streaming and voiceover.
In general, this microphone does stand up to its comparison to the AT2020. In the years that have passed, this microphone has managed to pack that punch into a sub 50 euro package.
In sound specific terms, the microphone is mostly faithful in representing a voice. It's not a perfect reproduction, but it does not hugely deform your voice beyond comparison.
It does a good job at picking up the wide dynamic range of sounds that a room with reverb would produce.
The microphone's internal Phantom amplifier is of decent quality, requiring less than 12'o clock on my UMC204HD to get to full scale gain. At that point, I cannot detect a noise floor issue with the mic, and solely pick up the background noise in my room.
If you're to some extent fine with tweaking small parameters and have the capability to, this is a very viable and capable choice to consider.
