HI 10 : A lot of value for the money

I ordered the Superlux for some experiments during home recording. I know the Superlux headphones which are incredible, so I chose this one out of all the entry-level budget small-diaphragm microphones. And it was a good choice. It seems well-made. I could not detect any build quality flaws. Okay, the mic-stand-adapter is quiet narrow, but with some controlled force you can put the mic inside and then it will stay there forever.

The sound is very good, especially for that price! I tried it for recording percussion like shakers or cabasas and it did a good job. It produces a lot of details and no overemphasis of special frequencies. Even at the low end I got some decent results. Put this little mic into the opening of a big plastic bottle and you get an incredible bass-drum-like sound when hitting the belly of the bottle! But beware, the smallest change in position changes the sound totally.

And also for recording a cajon it does a great job. I place it about 1 feet from the cajon and get a well-balanced sound. Love it!

Great piece of gear for the money. I consider buying a second one for drum-overhead-purpose...
