ELX 112P : Brilliant Speakers!

I was playing in Belfast over the winter (2014/15) and had to spec a PA. After much deliberation and traipsing round various live music venues and music shops to get an idea as to what I should go for, I settled on these 'babies', together with the matching EV ELX 118P subs. And once it was all delivered and set up, I WASN'T disappointed - what an incredible sound! At the loudest - in a big venue - I've only ever had the 112P's at about 3/4's of full volume, and the subs at just over half! They're incredible! The beauty of the 112P's is that you have a switch to take out the lower frequencies when using them with the 118P subs, thus avoiding a 'mushy' and over-bassy sound, or you can switch to using them at full range when using them on their own (without the subs) for smaller gigs. The casing is wood in construction, making them a little heavier than plastic-bodied types, but this makes for a much better sound in my opinion. They may not be the cheapest on the block, but I always believe in paying that little bit extra for quality - and, believe me, these ARE quality! One last thing: the EV logo on the front lights up, though you can turn this off if required. It makes for a great visual indicator from the front to know that you have power but, in all honesty, at a dark lit gig, it makes them look pretty cool! Hahaha...
