Custom Line CLJ-412E NT : Stunning value, but little things count.

I'm a 12-sting specialist. I play fingerstyle jazz on 12s. I don't want 'jangle.' I want all the strings in tune all the way up the neck. This 12-string is beautiful and built well. I had to replace the bridge saddle with a new one with custom intonation tweaks and adjust the neck relief a bit. Now it plays very well in tune, except for the low E string, which still pulls a bit sharp as you go up the neck. But even the most expensive 12's I have played are never intonated properly. The tone is getting warmer and better in general as it breaks in with new Elixir Polyweb's. The little thing that bugged me was that the bridge pins are really cheap plastic and not tapered. They are cylindrical and jammed in so tight, I was afraid of damaging the bridge when I changed the strings so I replaced them. All that said, the wood in the guitar is lovely and, so far, seems very stable. It's holding tune nicely. The built-in electronics sound fabulous through my PA. The pickup audio sample on the product page must be going straight to digital and it sounds pretty terrible. In real use it's great. Bottom line is, with the same tweaking I would have to do on any 12 at any price, this is a stunning value and a stunning axe.
