S.U.B. Sting Ray 4 BK : Cheap-ish and cheerful bass

I bought this stingray because I had an itching for some humbucking action, and didn't own a bass with a maple fretboard. I am pleased with it.

PROs - The combination of black gloss with chrome hardware coupled with the maple neck and fretboard makes it a very smart and stunning.

- Since I am used to a five-string, the neck feels quick and thin, very comfortable and it makes stretching and moving around quickly effortless. Quite comparable to my Fender Jaguar.

- The pickup is bright with that classic stingray tone, great for more percussive techniques like slapping and using a pick.

- No visible damage and a flawless finish.

CONs - Pickup is quite hot and specifically caused a bit of trouble for a soundman at a gig because the E string is particularly prevalent. Easily fixed with a compressor pedal though.

Overall it's a top bass for a very decent price, and if you can't justify buying a Music Man (as was my case) it's great.
