Flashback 2 Delay : Exactly what I needed and then some

I like a simple rig: a wah and a boost going through a high-gain amp, and only a few modulation effects, like the holy trinity of the 1980's: chorus, delay and reverb. I did not need any space or avant-garde echoes. After using an analog delay for a while I decided to get the Flashback 2 because of its good sounding 2290 and tape plus solid construction.

I ended up, however, playing around with almost all of its delay repertoire. Especially with the built-in modulation "pedal" (the switch is pressure sensitive), there's an enormous variety of really good sounding delays and echoes.

With effect pedals everybody has their own subjective preferences so it's very hard to compare them. That said, the Flashback 2 is objectively a very well built, very good sounding pedal with many delay types. It may not have as many configuration options on board as a dedicated, high-end delay pedal, but you definitely get your money's worth. That said, the Toneprint software lets you create customized delay types and in there you do have a huge array of options, but you won't be doing this on the fly.

I am very pleased with the sound and construction quality and would recommend this to anyone looking for a solid and straightforward delay pedal.
