Access Virus Ti2 Darkstar
Synthesiser

Top tier
After all these years the Access VIrus is still a top tier synth; still sounds incredible; still relevant. The variety of sounds you can make is amazing.
That's Virus!
After having an experience with Roland, Korg, Yamaha, Kurzweil, Ensoniq and many more - have found prefect solution for studio and stage - as second keyboard perfect for solos and pads.
The only missing thing is no compatibility regarding "Total Integration" with actually Mac OS..... Oh Guys from Access - please keep your promises - this is what this product should be all about!
There are better synths nowadays, but this one is still a classic
Are you doing Futurepop, Trance, Ambient? you will never get tired of this synth.
Are you interested in Virtual analog emulation? not so incredible in 2020, but ok-ish.
A digital powerhouse Synth? Nowadays Hydrasynth or Peak are MUCH better than the Virus for this role.
Beware of the non-existing support. Access does not take care of any requests anymore, so if you buy this you are basically on your own... Why 4 stars then? Because it sounds good, it has its own character, and even if it is not the best synth in any class, it can fulfill ANY role without any problem.
Moste versatile synth from last two decades.
Moste versatile synth from last two decades. Can sound thin but if you know how to control, there are many many sweet spots to find!
A capable synth, but a bit boring
Ok, I know it is well built, has a good keyboard, lots of voices, effects, interesting oscillators, integration and so on. But not only did I enjoy playing it, I also wasn't really happy tweaking it.
You are sort of musician who likes great sound and playability? What about Nord leads, Nord pianos or whatever?
You are so called geeky sound designer? Well, why not to try Accelerator (which matrix and layout beat that of Virus), Blofeld (which is cheaper).
You think it has many knobs and it is convinient? Well, it isn't. Check out Accelerator or DSI synths. I tell you what it is. This is very old girl now. Old school, if you want.
You like integration? What is wrong with working with software and controllers? Maybe, Nektar Panorama + Reason?
Generally speaking, I didn't get the point of this expensive toy. And it doesn't have the sound that could help justify other cons. Just a box full of presets for "contemporary producer". And a fancy name.
***** Ferrari of a synth the heart of the studio
Five star Ferrari of a synth
amazing sounds very warm edgy too a go to instrument everytime
But When I first got this keyboard I just played around listening to the sounds as you do then I struggled to get it into my regular setup with my choice of DAW being ableton live. It sat there for a few weeks then I came across a few really helpful vids on YouTube that encouraged me to create a default setup in ableton to include the virus and be able to use up to 16 sounds via midi or 3 audio out and 1 in.
Now I use access virus in every tune I make as the sounds just shine it's hard to explain but analogue sounds really are the best and you will see if you compare similar sounds from the darkstar or access virus to any soft synth
Bar sylenth would sound close but the virus rules every time so for that edge or shine, punch ,sound I go to my darkstar and just find a sound similar to what I'm looking for as a good base and work from there twisting knobs pressing buttons you just get a better feel and closer connection to the sound you want to create in my opinion. When you saved up enough ,get a virus, as it's a instument for life and I can only see the darkstars (being as powerful as the 61 keys, but much more portable) going up in value in the future as classic benchmark instuments like minimoogs or 808's,or yamaha cs80 dx 7's and so on.
