If you upgrade this stand

I have been using this tripod since 2008 every weekend in different places and events. Not designed for heavy keyboards. The Motif XS7 and XF6 are already heavy. It would not be advisable to put two synthesizers at the same time. I used initially for Roland GW8, now Roland BK5. The first thing that bothers me is screwing on the microphone stand. I remake it and now I can put on or remove the microphone stand in one second. The second thing, rubber feet also eventually break out of the screw. They had to be glued. The third thing, in my opinion, is that the price is not adequate. I think it should be much lower.

Great stand

Great stand, build quality looks great too. No handle for carrying makes it a pain the move. And even a basic thin carry case would have been ideal.

Other then that it works well.

Adams 2 x keyboard stand

Compact when collapsed and put away and sturdy and strong when set up. Also looks good on stage as opposed to the X-type stand.

Only real problem is floor vibrations coming up through integrated microphone boom stand.

If this could be rectified it would be great,

Ok for home use

I just use it at home for recording, if you are using it professionally on live stages, maybe you should look at something more stable, this keeps moving, since I just use it at home, its fine for me

Great

I've used this for nearly a year now and it still works great, wish now I bought a protective case for it as it has been rolling around in the van all the time. I don't use it for 2 keyboards but I put a wood pannel on the 2nd level to put my paperwork on. If you're tall then you can only sit down to comfortably be able to use 2 keyboards.

Seriously unstable.

I've been looking for a new double keyboard stand for a while and after reading some reviews I thought this would be exactly what I needed. Out of the box it seems sturdy and I liked that way everything folds neatly into the main column.

Then I put a Nord Electro 73 on it (not a particularly heavy board (and nowhere near the stated maximum 40k load!)). The result, even under light playing was extremely unstable. The whole keyboard rocked from side to side and when I put my Hammond XK1 on the lower tier that was a complete disaster. Totally unusable in any professional situation. Luckily I still had my old stand with me as the Adam Hall lasted about 30 seconds on stage before being put back in its box.

To add insult to injury it'll cost me half what I paid for it to send it back so I have a choice between returning it for a refund and being £40 out of pocket, or keeping a useless stand.

This stand is probably OK for very small (no more than 5 octave) keyboards that weigh very little, or if you're looking to make your keyboard playing look like a circus balancing act. Otherwise spend your cash in something else.

Careful Matching Required!

This is a tricky one. In my experience this stand has some strengths and weaknesses. Depending on what you want to use this for (and more importantly, WITH) this may or may not best the best solution for you.

This is what I've found (in comparison to the Ultimate Apex which I use and from which the SKS-22XB is clearly derived):

Strengths:

Good build-quality

Chunky, rugged base stabiliser

Arms fold directly into the stand rather than being removed (as in the Apex)

Relatively cheap (at about half the price of the Apex)

Weaknesses:

No handle - therefore not easy to pick up with one hand

The column itself is s little shorter than the Apex. (If you're 6' plus you might find the top tier not quite high enough)

Less stable with longer/heavier keyboards.

I initially put my Yamaha S90ES and Motif XS7 on this stand - NOT good. Too much instability. Because there is no clamp (as on the Apex) when the lower board is against the column you can't see the display. yet pull it out a little and it loses stability. Instead I use my Apex for these boards and the Adam Hall holds my Korg Trinity and Korg CX-3. These are both lighter and shorter (61-keys) and the Adam hall stand works fine.

Verdict? Great for smaller boards and synths. Be wary of using this for longer & heavier stage pianos/workstations
