Nice and small midi controller, only flaw is small knobs.

Small, almost pocket size controller, for video, audio and anything else... I use it often with Resolum, you map it and it runs smoothly! Small turning knobs are a big flaw, but there is also replacement knobs and faders to buy. If you had and old knobs, it will fit too.

Great for the purpose!

Very good MIDI controller. I think the knobs would be more anatomical if they were taller. Integration with ableton is very good.

does the job

does what its meant to do, all controls are midi-mappable on Ableton. I'm happy with my purchase

Useful little MIDI controller at a great price

The build quality is good as always with AKAI. Faders are smooth and, contrary to first impression, comfortable despite their small size.

However, the rotary knobs are small and really hard to grab, especially in a hurry. Replacing the rotary knobs with third party products is a great way to fix this small annoyance and make this a great tool for live performances at an incredibly good price.

Good but helpful for me

Good quality for low price it's good

Really useful for midi automatisation VST synths or another instruments.

Can be use like augmentetion for your midi keybords.

But I can't find midi map for Logic Pro X.

So this is uncomfortable to it.

Solid controller

I bought it to control VCVrack virtual modular, awesome. Well made, can't go wrong for the price.

would be worth it even just for the included live 11 lite. it's also an amazing and practical controller

Decent MIDI controller

The most value-for-money MIDI knobs & sliders out there.

Slightly Disappointed

I'm a studio one user so this doesn't have the full integration, hence the title. The midi function still works but has rendered the faders almost useless, you can't swap fader banks, so if you're using more than 8 tracks, you'll have to use MIDI learn every-time you want to do swap them

On the positive side, it's made EQ plugins much easier with the amount of knobs at your disposal; with Pro EQ (studio one built in plugin) you can assign each band to different knobs which has sped up work flow which is the main reason why I bought it

I'm still very happy with it, if it was able to integrate the same as Ableton then I would be over the moon

Perfect ableton controller with one drawback

I have used this controller in many performances since buying it due to its obvious ease of use, organized design and portability. Overall, its a great controller, exactly what you see with a decent build quality. When using it with ableton, though, the firmware does not create a red "ring" around the selected tracks that are being controlled. For this reason, rather than use it out of the box to control basic mix settings as it is originally configured to do, I always custom map the whole thing to control other things like instrument parameters. So it takes a little more setup than my other AKAI controllers. Once set up like this its pretty much perfect though.

A Small And Handy Controller!

The Midimix is a great -but not the best- solution at a great price, if you're looking for a compact midi controller for your DAW.

Quality is excellent - This thing is build like a tank. AKAI is no stranger in manufacturing things that last (my SG01v from 1997 still works flawlessly), and this device is no exception. It feels substantial and very sturdy!

The faders are small, but it seems that their value distribution is logarithmic, so as you raise the fader you get better precision! They work well. However what is disappointing, is that the knob height is short, meaning that while you can, of course, twist them, you can't get a firm grip on them, very easy.

Besides the official configuration for Cubase, you can also get unofficial Remote codecs for Reason in GitHub. By default the unit is configured to control 6 parameters x 8 channels. However I've created my own setup, that maps all knobs to one selectable channel. This gives me more control from the unit.

In the end, Midimix may not be the best controller, ergonomically speaking, however it will fit nicely on a small desk space, and it will last for many years!

Great little midi mixer

It's pretty stable and durable. The knobs are a bit short, but nothing too bad. I've never had an issue using this and it does not slide around on even a smooth table.

Wonderful controller

Excellent controller for the price i based my live set around this and an Apc mini in a number of different configurations. If using with the apc mini and you want to use custom mappings be sure to set all of the cc's to midi channel 2 or it will interfere with the apc mini

small and good

I needed a small controller for using ableton at gigs. For me it was important that the controller should be small so that i can place it on top of my stage keyboard. This controller is used to control the mix of sounds from my hardware keyboard with the ableton sounds and effects. Works flawlessly. I do not use all the features, but i did not read any manual, just plugged in and worked as i intended to use it. Eight channels is enough for this task. I use now only two keyboards, but with this mixer i can change with the push of a button which tracks (sounds) are active so in effect i can use a lot of sounds.

Awesome controller !!!

I use this controller to send MIDI data to Ableton Live and it does the job quite good. This controller has a good quality-price ratio because you have a lot of controls in a small package for a low price !!! Despite the fact that the rotary knobs are short (less than 1 cm) so it is not easy to grab them and that there is no momentary/toggle functionality for buttons in the Midimix Editor software, this controller is very robust (ideal for transport) and gives you a handful of controls (faders, rotary knobs and buttons) for your DAW !!!
