In my opinion, the shockmount is not sturdy enough to hold a $1,000+ mic such as the Akg 414.

The fact that it is made of plastic makes it a bit fragile. And it usually breaks in the same place, at the joint between the screw and the support.

So as a tip, remove it carefully when you are unscrewing it from the microphone stand, preferably in a vertical position.
