AKG K-612 Pro 5-stars Reviews
Transparent sound, very good frequency balanced
I use them all ready few years. Very very comfort even for longer use, really long last hight quality build, super quality cabel built to last, unbracble, very good balanced and plesant sound, warm and clear.I may say shurly reliable and transparent, in comparison with my HS7 monitors, they have maybe 5-10% frequency deviations.
Very Good Sound & Reasonable Price
Highly recommended. I use the headphones for production / composition of electronic / acoustic music with computer. I used them already for many years. Very comfortable, nice soft textile pads - much better then the leather / vinyl on some other headphones. I am very satisfied with the sound in general, transparency and stereo image.
Even I have a feeling though that the sound reproduction and imaging is a little bit beautified and more "spacey" then the actual input material ;)
Still true enough for production work and monitoring in my opinion.
The soldering points at the cable's end inside are not the best design. A failure can happen if pressing the left headphone at wrong angle accidentally. But if handled carefully should not be an issue. Also there is a service manual available online and it is an easy repair. I recommend this headphones.
best headphones you can buy!!
Hey, I'm a songwriter, and i wanted a pair of headphones where i could check my mixes, These headphones are awesome sounding! I use them with sonarworks and I get the perfect reference sound i get! For me it's the perfect mastering headphones that could reveal the true sound! Very comfortable! i could wear them while im sleeping listening to music and feel them so light!
Love them
Nothing bad to say about them. Love the comfort especiallly!
High quality at a unexpected price
Bought it as a backup, now they are my main headphones. The only "not great" attribute is the build quality, with the low price being reflected on a couple of plastics that could be better. But I take this compromise any day: great sound, slightly less than perfect aesthetics, great price.
Excellent choice for music and sound post production
Excellent choice for music studio and sound post-production, sometimes I even forget that I have them on my head. They are big, but not heavy on the head and neck. You have to have pair of studio headphones like this, it's a must!
No doubt
Best headphones I have !
Blown away
I spent a long time looking for an affordable pair of studio headphones. I'm a beginner when it comes to purchasing this type of headphones but I could not be happier that I went with these AKG's.
Firstly, the build quality of the headphones and even the packaging they come in are of the highest quality.
Secondly, the feel and comfort of them are phenomenal. I can wear them for 3+ hours and they are still as comfortable when I first put them on.
Finally, and most importantly, the sound from them is unbelievable. Personally, I use these for when I'm playing my guitar through GarageBand on my computer. For me, they are the perfect headphones for such a task. Sound is crisp, clear and the bass is perfect on them. Not too much, not too little.
The only thing about them is I would love if the cable was a bit longer, but it's a very minor complaint one of a more personal preference.
If you're like me and a beginner to studio headphones, go for this pair - you will not be disappointed.
Good quality and lightweight
They are very light and airy sounding, good for listening to classical music or other genres which are not bass heavy.
As I Like Sound
I am surprised how the headphones sounds, dynamic- and sonicness are great.
Best open-back price/quality.
AKG K-612 Pro is my second pair of high quality headphones. I had to ditch my Audio-Technica ATH-M50 in favor of this open-back model because of my chronic otitis (wearing closed-back M-50 during the day didn't help the treatment at all). I use headphones every day for work, making music, etc. And I must say my ears don't itch anywhere as much as before, so I highly recommend these headphones to anyone with ear problems.
K-612 sounds absolutely incredible. Just as good as M-50 in response, even in bass range, but with slightly different scene. Really no complaints here whatsoever.
The comfort level is pretty high, but I find the need to reposition the angle of the headband every now and then to maintain the comfort during long periods of use. The headband itself is just not that soft, so my skin doesn't like it. I think this may be more problematic for bald people, but I may be wrong.
I don't have any complaints quality-wise: everything is smooth, sturdy and nice to touch. I do have some concerns about the construction, though. Headband plastic bits look like they can break easily if dropped from a decent height, and I also don't like the usage of rubber bands for the auto-height adjustment, since they might stretch too much over time. But I din't see any comlaints about either of these nitpicks in other reviews, and unless any problems actually occur, it's a solid 5 star from me.
And last, but not least: anything you listen, no matter how quite the volume is, will be audiable for surrounding people. This is expected from open-back construsction, though.
All in all AKG K-612 Pro is a great choice for a fair price, if you absolutely need open-back construction headphones.
Abolutely amazing!
I have had some amazing headphones in my time and i can say that i am totally blown away by the sound quality of the AKG 612Pro. the bass is tight and flat. the highs are crisp and the mid range superbly details. the fact that these are open back gives a real sense of width without being pushed too far out. in a production sense of view it is amazing how well you can feel the movement and the depth. I might say that they are may be short in comparison the best headphones in terms of width but for the price it can't really get much better.
a must buy on a budget.
Excellent headphones at a surprising price
As a big fan of the AKG K701, I was hoping for the best with the K-612, but concerned that they might be a disappointment. I needn't have worried - if anything, they sound a little better than the K-701.
The K-612 sounds clear and transparent, with effortless performance even in the very low bass regions, but the high frequencies are smoother and less aggressive than on the K-701. The K-602 doesn't sound quite as airy and detailed as the K701, but the more laid back balance makes them less fatiguing over long sessions. Like all AKG Varimotion headphones, the K-602 does need a decent burn-in period to achieve full sound quality.
The K-612 shares the same headband and earpad design as the rest of the family, but features a smooth leather headband rather than the annoying padded bumps of the K-701. The earpads are soft, plush and highly breathable; The headphones are lightweight with minimal clamping pressure and are very comfortable to wear all day, even with eyeglasses (although the velour pads can be slightly squeaky against the arms of my spectacles). The cable is long and feels high-quality, and uses a proper screw-on 3.5mm-6.35mm adapter.
These headphones are big power-hungry beasts and do sound quite anaemic without a good amp; They're also very bulky and have very little isolation, so I wouldn't recommend them for portable use. For studio or home use however, they're just the ticket.
