AKG K-702 5-stars Reviews
Very Good
I use it mostly to practice quietly with my guitar and amp, it's very handy!
Superb
Really can't fault these at all. Obviously no headphones are perfect but I've been really impressed with these.
I'm currently mixing without having any speakers at all but its very rare I have any big surprises when I take the mix on to a speaker system. They're also super comfy and easy on the ears during long mix sessions.
Exellent
Very balanced and clean! Absolute high level quality sound! Best headphones u could get! I got this ones and a pair of Bayerdynamic DT-770, because they are closed, but AKG K-702 is definitely the winner!
First studio-class Hi-Fi headphones... Quite satisfied!
Have got few pairs of headphones (Momentum, 1Am2, B&O HX), but none of them gave so much detail. Great for classics since I could "see" where the instruments are.
Using laptop as sound output so the bass is not well presented, and the sound is still good.
Great Headphones
AKG sound pro! great for mixing music, Recomended!
Great all-round
I've been using these headphones for a little over two years since my K-701s gave up the ghost after many years.
I use them for production, gaming, watching shows and YouTube online, everything. Personally I really like the sound, and the addition of a replaceable cable compared with the 701s puts the mind at ease.
Comfort-wise, the leather headband is smooth on the underside compared to the bumps on the 701s and is suspended so really nice to put on every time. The large ear pads fit over the ears and are beautifully cushioned. I get some fatigue across the top of my head and ears, but can easily wear them for 6 hours without noticing - something I pretty regularly.
Amazing for the price
Natural sounding, perhaps lacking some bass and with a slight bump in the high/high-mids, but with an astonishing stereo image and transparency. Very hard to beat for the price.
Also extremely comfortable, probably the most comfortable pair of headphones I have ever tried, very useful for long studio sessions.
Good build quality, not very hefty which might make them somewhat fragile but on the other hand them being so light makes them even more comfortable. The detachable cable is a must-have for me.
great headphone, great value
K702 is such a classic headphone that I must own one. Comparing with the past, K702's price has dropped significantly. Therefore, it is definitely worth the money. The plastic exterior looks rather cheap though, and the elastic bands are eventually going to fail. I'll not be surprised if any of those happen.
great sound
this headphones are great, if they sound thin, is because your headphone amp is weak, they need to be properly driven.
Very good price/performance.
I have been using AKG headphones for about 20 years, appropriate for home studio and light mixing.
Open, huge soundstage
I wanted this specifically for FPS gaming, but I got a lot more. I enjoy my music too. Very good sound.
Perfect for mastering
Great set of headphones, I bought these to finalise my mixes and mastering. I've been making music around 25 years, I have tried many brand and price ranges, I can honestly say these are the best sub £200 headphones I have ever bought. My only concern is the build quality and how long they will last, also the lead isn't that great.
Nice and Flat
As far as budget "budget"-minded reference headphones, these take the cake. Crystal clear and neutral sounding along with a very spicy soundscape feeling thanks to their open back design. Of course the caveat is that these headphones are not made to be discreet and whatever you're listening to will noticeably bleed into your surrounding space, but that's the case with mostly all open back designs. At 62 ohms, it might be a worry that these won't perform very well without a dedicated DAC, but rest assured, a modern laptop or phone will drive them just as fine as it would a 32 ohm pair.
Overall, it is a great product for what it is supposed to be. A pair of sturdy, neutral sounding open back headphones. As long as someone goes in without expecting chunky bass frequencies and to have their playlist be private, then it would be very hard to be disappointed at this price.
Amazing sound
I can't describe how much better these sound when you have used only cheaper headphones all your life.
Sound field is massive, I can hear things in songs I didn't before. A little harsh sounding at first, but that changed after I listened to different music for a few hours and now I can't use anything else.
One problem though - after a month of use, my right earcup stopped working and I had to use my warranty to fix it. Now I got them back and everything works. I guess that AKG's soldering is weak and therefore sometimes the wires inside get disconnected. This seams to be a classic problem and can happen, but otherwise I can't find anything to complain about.
Crystal detail, wide stage, very comfortable and comfortable to sit on the head, the ears do not get tired and do not sweat, replaceable cable.
Toller Kopfhörer
Ich bin total überzeugt vom Klang.
-ziemlich feiner und detailierter Klang
-sehr neutrales Klangbild
Open and detailed sound, one of the best in this price range
Previously I'd had Superlux (don't remember their ID), beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO, Sennheiser HD650, Philips SHP9500, Audio-Technica ATH-M50x.
AKG K-702 are so far my favourite headhpones for mixing purposes.
I'll go straight to the point now. Below are the pros & cons that I was able to identify during 2 weeks of use for mixing:
Pros:
+ First and foremost: very open and detailed sound! I can hear all the instruments very clearly, as well as all the tweaks that I do in compression, EQ & effects. These headphones are just great in this regard, especially considering their price range. Of course I'd still recommend to use headhpones AND monitors, otherwise there's always a chance that your mix will not translate to all devices equally well. By the way these are open headhpones, so be aware that they leak volume and lack a bit of bass in comparison with closed ones.
+ They are very comfortable to wear and non-fatiguing for long critical listening sessions. After wearing them for a long time you won't have to readjust to monitors' sound, like it often happens with some sharp sounding headhpones.
Cons:
- These headphones seem a bit fragile, especially their headband. You don't want to carry them with you too often. For stationary use it's not a big problem, I suppose.
It is BIG and elegant looks but the headband metal looks breakable
My wife use this for podcasting, she prefer this openback because of super comfortable and natural sounding.
The sound leak is not bad at all. You need to crank up the volume but the sound is painful in order to leak that much.
PROS:
The sound is wide it is like in theater.
Solid build and super comfortable.
I like the headphone pad and it is not press my head inward.
Even though it is openback the bass is still there.
CONS:
The bass is lacking for some people.
Also the sound feels far away. When you watch movies you will feel that sound is came from neighbor.
The sound is not detail as AKG K-371. But the comfortable sacrifices when you choose that headphone.
Great Stage
Got this recently to see what all the hype is about. I got them with a dose of skepticism, but after listening on this for some time now (10+ hours) I must say I'm presently surprised and enjoy this quite nicely.
Being a bold(y) as usual headphones give me irks, this are no exception, but the wide leather stripe is indeed helpful and I don't get a narrow "hot spot" on my head.
As comparison this are more comfortable (for me) than the Sony wh-1000xm3.
All in all quite pleased with the purchase!
