Alesis Elevate 5 MKII Reviews
Does the job!!
Perfect beginnerâs choice. Donât hesitate to buy.
:)
Sound is great, less optimal for mixing
Recommended.
These speakers are very well made and a great buy in this price range.
I use them for recording or just listening to music and the sound is pleasant, precise even tho I would like it to have a bit more bass.
Easy to install and the fact that we just have to connect one speaker to the other is a big plus for me.
Very intuitive speakers! Recommended.
Amazing
Never had one of this, for this price that has this type of sound.
They are very equilibrate.
You should have those.
Really good speakers
Good speakers for a producer on a budget
Great value for money
I bought these for my home studio and use them for recording/mixing/mastering.
They are loud enough for home setting.
I like the bass boost option.
Overall good value for money (I think they were the cheapest 5" option)
Hard to beat at this price range
Was looking for a decent pair of monitors without breaking the bank. I couldn't ask for more at this price range. I feed them with a UMC1820 which is hooked up to my main computer by USB, as well as my synths by their line outputs.
VERY powerful bass, which is probably what most people prefer, but personally I think it's just a tad too much (even with the bass boost set to OFF), so perhaps a little boomy for my taste. But no problem really, just use EQ to cut the bass a tiny bit and have no other complaints on the sound, well balanced registers and quite clear sound. Very powerful overall, I rarely turn the volume knob up more than to about 9 o'clock, or about 20-25%.
Pros: Balanced line inputs, as well as unbalanced RCA. (Note, do NOT plug in both RCA and line jacks at the same time, even if only using one at a time, because the circuitry amplifies the signal way too much, which means you could probably blow the speakers.)
Heavy and sturdy, which is a pro in my book.
Built-in transformer.
3.5mm headphone output on the front, with all other connections at the back.
Cons:
I personally would prefer a 6.35mm headphone output instead of 3.5mm
All in all, great value for not much money!
Would totally recommend for this price.
I used M-Audio bx5a's and Genelec 8040's in my old studio. I needed a small monitor for my home mixes, so i tried Alesis Elevate 5 MKII, I would say for this price, It is of course not comparable to Genelec 8040's but they are definitely as good as BX5's.
I can mix clearly with those monitors and also listening to music is very pleasurable. For a 5" speaker you would need to know what to expect, it is not possible to clearly hear below around 65hz and I do not use bass boost function as it sounds an unnatural boost around 80 - 160 hz. I use my headphones for sub - bass mixes with those monitors.
Overall i am very happy with the purchase and i find those speakers very good quality for their price.
Great speakers
Exactly what I needed for mixing...very clear and very loud set of speakers - cannot fault them, only now I can hear my mistakes clearly too.
Good Monitors for a production/ music student
It's a fair price for these two monitors, since they perform well and have a good pair of adjustments that can make them sound better in different environments, although the switch button being in the back still makes me mad. The transient response is okay, expectable from the property of the cones. I think they are suited for beginner students looking forward to the studio life, or just mixing alternate support monitors to review your mixes.
Very reliable
Good studio monitors with good quality. Vey reliable, they sound cristal clear on the high end.
Studio use
I am really happy with these speakers. They have great sound and they are great for mixing/mastering.
The bass boost is a fun feature as well.
Does the job!!
I use these as alternate monitors in my project studio and they sound just fine. They have a decent bass response and I can hear the low frequencies quite clearly all the way up to the high mids. They have a bass boost switch in case your room has you struggling to hear the low end, but you can also cut all the low to get the bass out of the way and give you a more accurate picture of your mix.
They are connected by one balanced jack which links the other speaker. This seems a bit cheap to me but they probably managed to cut some cost to bring the monitor's price point lower. They are quite light also. Most people will see this as a red flag. For the price however the sound response is quite accurate and does not exaggerate frequencies too much. This also depends on your room size, treatment etc.
I have mixed on these and found I was able to achieve an overall balanced sound without too much mud in the low mids. You could also look at these monitors like the old NS10's in that if you can make your mix sound really good on these then it should easily translate across to other monitors.
There is no posturing here, these monitors do a decent job but of course their price is an indication of the build and quality of the parts. If you are mixing in your bedroom you will find these a worthy consideration. These monitors are not Genelec but they are also not trying to be. They can also get nice and loud when you need to drive the signal a bit more.
Overall a worthy choice for any style of music. you could pair them with the HD9's or HD10's and switch between the two to make sure your getting an even balanced mix.
I think they are very balanced sonically for desktop use. Excellent tonality and even power range, I recommend these for anyone seeking a low cost set of monitor playback speakers for recording projects and listening to pre-recorded audio from devices or a laptop.
What i expected for the price
I bought these along with a built-in preamp turntable for a cheap listening setup. They do the job fairly well. The sound is good for the price, the looks are very good. Note that you can control the volume and an on/off bass boost. There is no further sound tweaking.
Very good for the price.
well worth the money
Good sound for the money , have no regrets (2 weeks in use now)
