Sum so greater than the parts

Yes yes yes, the price/features ratio makes no sense given everything else on the market. But I really don't care. The Leipzig V3 is a very special instrument. If you want, it's Depeche Mode in a box. But the strange interactions between the MIDI sequencer and the CV sequencer let you do quite odd things.

It's a simple beast; you read the manual in 15 minutes. Yet it loops in on itself in interesting ways, making it quite generative. I can lose myself for literally hours, feeding it slowly changing sequences while looping its internal sequencer -- it's hard to explain but the results are interesting and experimental.

Well, I used to have the very first version (without the sequencer). The quality overall improved in my opinion, The filter became more predictable too. For the sound they are very closed as far as I remember the old one, but maybe the early version had slightly more in your face and more raw sound kinda. Anyway I am very satisfied now. AS were my very 1st analogues synths back in 2008-2009. Now I have 'em again :)
