Antelope Zen Go Synergy Core Reviews
AMAZING
Top DAC Top plugins Nice interface Good build quality Cons: Antelope website and soft is a bit laggy, but 90% of time it's fine
The best one
Good sound, good delivery, was careful, all its perfect
Great interface, inappropriate cable
A great audio interface, simple and effective. However, to be noted the fact that for the interface to run flawlessly without pops and crackles, it requires a high speed USB 3 cable. Antelope ship the device with a USB 2 cable. Shame.... After too many hours troubleshooting, I finally figured out where the clicks and pops were coming from.
Good sound
Excellent device, the sound is amazing, the quality too. But the only problem with the software was that the card could not be added to the personal account on the manufacturer's website. Wrote in support and understood. It took two days. With the exception of connecting and registering a card with Antelope's personal account, I have not yet seen any cons.
Works great with Linux
I'm a technical science communicator, reliant on using Linux. Linux has very poor audio support, and so the thing I was most interested in with this device was being able to build a nice vocal channel for streaming, presentations, calls etc. that is not dependent on the computer.
As the device is class compliant, it works totally fine with Linux, you just don't have ability to configure the plugins. However, I can do that in Windows, save to a preset and then I can select which preset to use for my task while using Linux.
I have 3 presets I use the most:
1/- clean - nothing, using for recording videos that I will process later
2/- voice channel - gentle compression and limiting, eq and a bit of a boost
3/- extreme monitoring - I often get a sore throat when I have lots of meetings, so I use the 2nd headphone monitor as an extremely loud monitor of my audio. That helps me talk softly, but an unprocessed version is sent to the conference. As the gain is so high, the background noise is loud, so I also add a gate on my monitor to make it less fatiguing.
Hopefully that gives you an idea of the flexibility of this unit.
The build quality is great, very solid. As others have said, the screen is a bit hard to read especially if there are reflections. The knob clicks too loud. And there could be more knobs/buttons, to make less combinations to change presets, adjust levels etc.
Sound quality is excellent, very low noise and a lot of mic gain. 2 monitors is also very nice. I never send the mic through the first monitor so I can't ever get feedback issues when I have my loud speakers on.
The bundled plugins seem good, but I'm just learning how to use them tbh. I would have liked some more 'basic' stuff like the ableton limiter, gate. Everything is 'vintage'. It would be amazing to load a VST into it and have it stored for use without the PC.
I had problems with some of the plugins not working, but the antelope support has been very fast to help and by using an older firmware I have all the plugins working now.
Expensive, but does the job and lets me do pro level audio processing without a windows / mac computer.
Absolutely fantastic
The best audio interface I've ever had
Unbelievable
Absolutely love it!
Can't believe the audio quality coming out of this unit .
I got the edge solo microphone too. I couldn't get some features but Antelope truly were helpful.
The on board effects are amazing . I can't believe the audio quality I'm getting out of this
Definitely a good buy
Great piece of equipment!!
Zen Go is a great sounding piece of equipment.
Highly recommended for those who wants great specs in such a small box.
Great crafthmaship.
Tnx Antelope..
The Best in the Price Range
Overall I am very satisfied with performance of the interface.
The sound is crisp and clear. Latency of onboard DSP is very low and selection of the FX is huge.
I am using onboard DSP to fix frequency response of the room a little bit. Double headphone output comes in handy to monitor clean unprocessed mix in headphones.
I am taking one star off for handling - zengosc mixer is not very user friendly and takes time to figure out the routing. Multifunctional volume knob that controls everything from output level to input gain can also be tricky to handle.
I am taking another star off quality as the volume knob tends to skip sometimes when adjusted.
That leaves us at 4.5 out of 5 which is a great score in my opinion.
I'd love to have ADAT instead of SPDIF, but you get what you pay for. This has been marketed as mobile audio interface at the end of the day.
Go for Zen Q if budget allows!
Bought this product because of its top of the line ADA converters. However, everything in this unit is well thought from end to end. The Synergy Core processing, effects included and specially the preamps, which sound CRYSTAL CLEAR and have huge headroom.
ZENGO
This sound card is very good, and it has achieved my expected results. It also comes with a DSP plug-in. It is still very easy to use, the sound quality is still good, and the control interface is relatively convenient. The Antelope sound card can be trusted!
Great features in problematic package
I'm satisfied with the features and performance as there are no other options including DSP in this price range. But it comes with drawbacks as I think the interface design is flawed
* I don't like handling at all, especially because the unit is placed on my desk. I'm looking at it at an angle from 75cm distance and the display is useless cause it is not very good quality and in this scenario is completely unreadable. So whenever I want to change volume or anything I have to stand up to look at the display from above to see anything which is annoying. It cannot be placed vertically as the headphone outputs are on the front side
* I personally don't like the control scheme where you have to push buttons to switch mic/monitors/headphones volume and then change it via the control wheel. It's simply tedious also because there are only two buttons for 2-headphone-outputs/2-mic-inputs/monitors-outputs so the buttons have to be pressed more times to find the thing you are looking for. I think the scheme of classic interfaces where you have more knobs with dedicated functions is soooo much better than this. Looks cool maybe but is painful to use
* the unit shape prevents it from stacking. I you want to stack it you have to place it on top of the stack
* software is ok but it seems very rough around the edges and I encountered some bugs although to be fair Antelope is releasing updates from time to time
* I'm satisfied with sound quality and dsp effects
Overall I'm thinking about selling this unit cause I'm not sure DSP effects beat the day-to-day usage problems and the overall experience is not very good for me. Especially compared with Motu M4 which I bought for my second computer - that is a completely different story and I love that unit! I can easily work around missing DSP effects in Motu but I cannot work around usability of ZenGo
It didn't turn out as expected!
Without exaggeration, the best in its price segment! Plugin afx2daw, just a gun, even works via usb! I was very worried when I took the interface that it would constantly disappear, etc., but after a couple of weeks of use the flight is normal) I did not expect that there would be such high-quality preamps, in such an inexpensive interface, it would not be bad to modify the plugins so that they open separately, but and at this stage it works just fine, the excellent quality of the plugins, which was very unexpected, in general, surprised, pleasantly surprised)
Not perfect, but at this price, unbeatable
Sure, we all know who they're trying to compete with. So is it as good? Nah. But the value for money far exceeds anything else.
Why get it?
- You play guitar? Get this. Most of the software is geared towards guitar players.
- You record vocals? Get this. This interface and the bundled software will make your life easier and provide an insane quality for the money.
Why not get it?
- You will spend hours learning how to properly use it, the UI is kinda bad, the software UI as well, not much tutorials if any available, the documentation isn't very detailed, ...
- If you're only getting this for the sound quality, there are "nearly" as good options for half the price.
Oh and if you're wondering, it works perfectly on M1 Macs.
Good sound quality for the price.
I'm using it on Windows 10. Like the sound of the preamps and effects. Not so much fan of the Auraverb sound. Seems to have some wobbling modulation I don't like. Also the Atuner is behaving strange at times. the needle is fluctuating a lot, esp. when trying to tune a bass.
Other than that, I'm pleased with this audio interface so far.
Antelope Zen Go Synergy Core
Antelope audio Zen Go Synergy Core is an excellent card with rich functionality, excellent sound and recording quality! In addition, a big plus is the presence of its own processor and plug-ins, which saves computer resources. For me now this card is number 1!
Real good quality product!
I'm really enjoying my Zen Go Synergy core! The built is excellent, the quality of the sound that comes from it is amazing! You have so many sound choices at the tip of your hand - it feels like being in a proper studio.
My Vocal and instrument home recordings have gone to another level with this one!
Nice budget card with DSP chip on board.
Nice budget card with DSP chip on board. The ability to process sound in realtime mode, emulations of analog devices. A well-made card with an excellent design. Pure sounding pre - amps. And also comes with a set of FX plugins. I am satisfied with the purchase, I recommend this card from Antelope Audio to everyone.
Top price quality for home studio.
I have been choosing a sound card for a long time, a lot of laudatory reviews have been read about it.
What can I say:
- excellent sound, it immediately became noticeable after switching from the presonus studio 6/8 card
- it is necessary to get used to the management , but there was no discomfort
- a very high-quality device.
- plugin emulation is great
but there were also difficulties:
- the software is raw, but I made it work on windows.
Best choice for artist recording themselves
I am an artist producing and recording my songs and i was looking for a setup where i could monitor in real time with effects . I stumbed accross the usual suspects and then i found antelope's zen go . I knew about the quality of the clocks , pre's etc but not about the interfaces and effects / plugins. I gave it a shot and could not be happier. I use a windows laptop with ryzen 4800H connected with USB and can use the effects real time recording and in mixing. I ony needed support once and i they reached out to me and spent time to solve my issue.Great experience overall and could only recomment , especially for that price.
