Aquarian "Jack DeJohnette" 12" head

A slightly thicker head at 10mil that the standard 7mil "Texture Coated", and as such delivers a "wetter" tom sound.

Although I initially liked this wetter sound I felt that they lacked projection compared to the standard TC's that I've used for many years.

Probably great if you're in a miked up situation but hard work in an acoustic environment.

It was good to check them out but I don't feel that they were worth the higher price point. I'll change back to TC's for the next gig.

the colour

maybe it's because they have Jack de Johnette printed on the head, so that when I look down at my drums while playing I get inspired, maybe it's the black rough texture that just looks so good, or maybe it's the tone like no other heads I've ever played; (and I've been playing since the mid 70's. you can tune then tight and high, or low and funky, they are simply the best heads I've ever played, end of story...
