The perfect head for modern pop scenario

The Aquarian Vintage (Modern and Deep models) drumheads are the way to bring the old standards back to life. Since the "new" trend in recording pop-rock music requires a bit dull, short, mellow and warm sounding drums, the vintage coating heads are the way to go. I prefer the Modern Vintage to the Texture coated, since the Vintage models has a bit less attack, but extended warmth and mellow feel. I even preffer the Modern Vintage as resonant heads on toms as well. This is the way to controll the sustain of the toms even better. The coating itself is indestructible - I still record regullary on Modern Vintage heads bought 3 years back with no traces of use. The Deep Vintage heads shorten the sustain, but they're not "dead" heads as you may expect being so thick (10+10 mil), they bring real depth and warmth, but they don't overkill the tone of the drum, you still have nice fundamentle tone, it's just not that pronounce. The Deep Vintage on shalow snares make them a bit deeper sounding, with less crack, but still sensitive even more than when using Texture Coated Power Dot. Really nice touch on buzz rolls and specially the Modern Vintage is the premium head for such sensitive touch. And the beautifull creamy (like an old skin) look of the Vintage models compliments the whole vintage look of my Mahogany finish drums.

Best Head

For me this is the best snare drumhead on the market. I play pop and jazz, and you get perfect sound for both. It has coat, that last long, so you can use brushes.

Deep Vintage tones!

Stunned by the look of this head as it really looks about 100 years old, however the sound is a lot more akin to recordings of the 70s as its a thick 2 x 12mil, add the vintage coating and its warm, wet and PHAT! best at low to medium tunings. Definitely will buy again.

So far so good

This is the first time I have used this skin. I am looking for a dry, warm tone from my Pearl all wood snare and having quickly tuned this skin and played briefly, I feel I have found the perfect skin for my sound. Also the vanilla cream look is retro cool!
