Sehr intuitive Drum Maschine

Beast

A small size beast for my dawless electronic set up. Don't even need a clock to spread midi and bpm to the rest of devices, quantising everything in a button push! I love it

powerful lil analog machine

the impact was purchased to sit next to my Microfreak in a Magma XL Dj case at live shows. Not getting much studio use.

Edge to edge perfect.

The sounds present on this machine are as expected from an analog drum machine; and definitely have their own character. Build quality is fantastic, and supporting software from Arturia is amazing, very concise and user friendly.

Recommend this for a gigging drum machine on a budget.

Total Beast

Super punchy sound with as much warm fuzzy saturation as you want. It's very easy to use - you probably won't look at the manual. Some people might want more control over the sounds but especially considering the price, this thing is great value and a huge amount of fun.

Incredible piece for the price

The sounds are good, controls are very intuitive, this piece packs a lot of functionality. Individual outputs for the instruments are very useful. The only downside for me is a song length, 16 patterns of up to 64 steps results in just 64 bars max. But after all, I really enjoy using this drum machine

yes, but if you put some efxts or processing the sound can change for good... anyway, for the price, it is an amazing instrument

Modern drum machine with solid squencer

This 'laptop-size' drum machine inspired me from the very begining. The sounds are great, deep and if you use Distrotion - dirty. But always the sound is well controlled so when you experiment with maximum values of the knobs - it's still great. Sequencer is simple, logic but also very deep and effective. Especially with Swing, Random or Step Repeat use.

Before I have used Volca Beats, that I loved but found some limits.

With Impact it seems for me even more music styles are possibles to explore even though Impact is a strong position for any electronic, edm or hiphop styles.

Pros: Analog Sounds (Kick Decay ...), Color function (change a little bit main sound of the pad), Distortion, Interface and Hardware quality, logic sequencer with 64 pattern, additional FM Drum, Computer application for configure/upgrade HW and import/export patterns, multiple connections. Good sync options with other HW/Daw.

Cons: Maybe one - Not all instruments are equipped with 3 knobs for more sound modify but two only, but well you can always trigger two instruments on same time to get more rich, combined sound.

Excellent

Excellent analog sounds, something different from the 808/909 sounds (which I have covered with a TR8). I particularly like the distortion effect. Easy to use, tweak and programme too. I also like the smaller form factor (compared to the original Drumbrute). Very well built.

Great analog drum machine

This is an amazing analog drum machine. However, you have to have some understanding of its capabilities, because even though it offers a good amount of controls, you can't dramatically change the sound of it.

The Arturia sequencer is just great, very intuitive and easy to use. It is convenient to enter patterns both live and in step mode. The only thing that is missing for me is that it can't record automation of the knobs.

I would love to see stereo output in this device, though it provides separate mini-jack outputs for kick, snare, hats and fm drum.

Overall it is really good offering for the price and its sounds can fit a lot of music genres.

A Future Classic!

Being in the lookout for an analog drum machine I stumbled upon this little beast! The DrumBrute Impact made quite an impression to me, considering the price and the features:

There are 10 clean & punchy analog sounds which sit well in a modern track. The kick and the snares are the most prominent, however the entire drum set sounds tight and well thought out musically.

My most praised features are the "Color" function which transforms each sound, and the FM drum, that acts like a wildcard! Meaning you can transform it to many other sounds. Finally the distortion at the master bus makes the sound gritty and harsh, adding that special "brute" sauce!

Although I'm using it via DAW, I enjoyed playing live, using the countless sequencer features, and building patterns easily! I'm sure it will serve you well in a live gig.

To the cons, I would add the lack of a rimshot, and midi control over the sound parameters! Also a big minus is the lack of a complete list of SysEx messages in the manual.

Nevertheless in regards to it's sound, I think this drum machine is a future classic!

Even though I like this instrument a lot -it has a lot of character and sounds punchy and organic- I have sold it after half a year. The reason being... the power cord is not that well isolated, and I end up having too much hiss/noise if I put the master volume somewhere other than 12 o clock. I have had two units and they both had the same problem (tested in different studios-I have a power conditioner in mine-).

A big bang for your buck

For under 300eur, this little gem packs a mighty punch. This is my first analogue drum machine and I was not disappointed. The only downside that exists is the inability to load your own samples onto the drums but features such as colour, swing and randomisation as well as pitch and tone knobs create a diverse range of sounds from an 8-pad drum machine. The sequencer is incredibly easy to use. Beyond satisfied with this purchase. Another great product from Arturia.
