Arturia Keystep Reviews
Good as a basic keyboard, unintuitive when using arp/seq with synths.
I cannot get the arpeggiator working with my moog mother 32, and the sequencer is just unintuitive. The build quality is fine, and I like the touchpad mod wheels. Keys feel good, and aftertouch is very nice, but I have noticed some key presses can get stuck on software synths.
Keystep
Great construction, easy to connect and perfect to work with midi. Who Locking for the best option to control the midi inside the daw that probably would be the best option.
Awesome controller
Great keyboard controller and sequencer especially for modular gear!
Pros
- Great build quality for what it is.
- Super easy to use sequencer and arpegiator features.
- Love the touch mod and pitch controls.
Cons
- Lacks a couple of assignable knobs. Modulation control doesn't work for everything.
simple midi keyboard with lots of features.
I wanted a simple and versatile midi keyboard that can be used with software and hardware synths. This is perfect for the job, it has many connectivity options (MIDI,USB,CV,Clock) and a nice sequencer. Very intuitive to use.
build quality is good, does not feel cheap at all.
The only thing I am missing is multi track sequencing. for that you will need to go to the pro version.
Handiest Little Controller this side of the Pecos
I got this little guy to go with my laptop DAW for travel. It is so handy, I also use it in my home studio. Remarkably robust options for sequencing and other MIDI control functions. Most curious is how playable it is. The 32 mini keys are wider than you usually see on mini-keyboards, so you can actually do some two-handed playing on it. It's a bit hefty for travel, but then it stays put when you're playing it. All for the cost of a decent guitar pedal.
Love my first Arturia
This is my first Arturia controller. I've purchased the Keystep to control my Digitone, Digitakt and other Synths connected to them.
I love the feeling of the keys; much better than some other controllers out there on the market. Also, the arpeggiator is very useful.
This is an excellent controller for both recording and performing.
high quality feel
this midi controller does what is claims, overall good build and functionality, however mind that the keys are a little heavy
Perfect for modular synths
I bought the keystep because of its cv outputs and could not be happier with how it works with my modular gear. The only thing not so great about the keystep is the quality of the keys, but for the price it's still worth the price tag!
All i wished for!
I really like the Aturia Keystep, because it is small enough to fit on my desk and has enough keys to be able to play over multiple octaves. For me it is the best mixture of size and features. The keys feel very good (but i do not really have a comparison, as it is my first master keyboard).
The Arpeggiator, Chord Play Mode and Sequencer are nice to have, but so far i have no used them too much. Never the less i would definitely recommend this controller to everybody searching for a light weight but high quality device.
Best midi controller and more
I am not a fan of the sequencer on keystep but it is just nice to know your perfect midi keyboard can also do those tricks if needed. I like how easy it is to navigate customisation through software and how easily it pairs with any environment. The build and design is absolutely stunning. It makes you want to create when you see it on your table. This is something very important considering the hideous looking midi keyboard market right now. I like the pitch and mod ribbons instead of wheels so you can achieve jumping effect. Also it is just fantastic that midi out pairs as midi thru.
Good keyboard/sequencer
This keyboard is very good for analogue and digital use. The keys feel nice too.
Great controller all around.
If you pair it with a synth its unbelievable. As a controller it is just what I wanted. Works great and doesnt try to cram every single little hardware thing. The keys feel great and the presentation is marvellous.
Best in class!
The perfect small format keyboard
Excellent quality for price range
For anyone looking to get an entry-level MIDI controller, this is an excellent piece of equipment. Sturdy, easy to use, and looks neat as well.
Best small midi keyboard
Full sized midi din, almost 3 octaves and after many gigs, still works without a problem! Good size for hand luggage! Very happy with this build, I had previous mini versions which were all bad.
Negative: I have no use for the arpeggiator, wish they had 3 midi controllable encoders and buttons instead. I prefer usb type B socket instead of mini usb.
Usb port is rather flimsy
One of the cheapest midi controllers you can find on the market. There are no complaints about the quality of the keys, but:
1. USB port is rather flimsy, after six months of use it can jump out from the slightest movement of the keyboard
2. I watched a lot of reviews on YouTube, but still did not understand how to make the faders work in a DAW ( If you know please contact me [email protected])
Good midi keyboard
Nice portable midi keyboard. The keys are not full-size so it can take a while to adjust to the smaller size. Quite handy to plug into a sequencer and to record notes but for more advanced playing or music that requires bigger chords, then you would be better off looking at a bigger keyboard with full-size keys.
A must have
This MIDI keyboard and sequencer is a very very good must have in the home studio and as well on stage. So compact with so much possibilities/capabilities. And with firmware updates we have some more interresting features.
Very fun and easy to work with, i'm still learling and having a lot of fun and gaining experience every day :)
Just right for my usage
What can i say ? This is a great midi keyboard. Not that I'm an authority at all in the matter though.
