Audio-Technica ATH-M50XWH Reviews
good headphones for this price! ideal for DJing
Brilliant but I regret the white colour
First of all I will say the headset itself has absolutely no issues, I use it for production and streaming constantly and think it's amazing, my only regret was going for the white colour, as the leather piece had become slightly dyed while I let some friends with dyed hair use it while working.
Regardless this is a definite must for producers or any music enthusiasts
Sound is good, bright for some, but good, with poor build quality and worse comfort
My head gets sore not 20 minutes after putting these on. It's a damn shame because they isolate well, and are especially suited for tracking, where the V shape comes in handy for hearing everything.
They started squeaking not long after I got them, though only when folding them out, so I don't believe it would be a problem when recording, but beware still.
I would recommend something else to anyone not wanting to take the risk. Don't be fooled ny marketing of these headphones. Great alternatives are out there BUT; if you do know that you won't find them uncomfortable, then they're a great purchase.
Incredible comfort and balanced sound
I've tried most headphones and these are among the most comfy you'll find. Got everything you need in a pair of headphones.
Great response
Upgraded from a very cheap and awful sennheiser model, this just blew me away. Awesome insulation, can't hear anything near me when I have them on. Great flatness, crisp sound.
Best monitoring headphones.
Amazing everythink. Firstly i was mixing and mastering in them, but after some studio changes started to use them for musicians monitoring. Everywhere they work amazing.
Perfect fit for a mac setup
Great product! Comfortable to wear. A little bit on the bright side but eq will tame it easily. Highly recommended!
Great monitor headphones
I've been using them for 4 months now both while on the pc working and while playing guitar and these are just amazing!
The materials they are made from are very high quality and the 3 cables that they come with are great for swapping around to what I need to do.
I was warned that they aren't comfortable to wear for long periods of time, but this has not been the case with me! They sit very well on my head and I don't feel my ears warming up or squished.
Sound reproduction is very clear and transfers the signal clearly, which is really important when playing with headphones. Also, no sound escapes them which means I can play guitar whenever I want without bothering anyone :D
I have tears in my eyes...
And sonic orgasms in my ears.
These headphones are some of the clearest, nicest and most responsive headphones I've put on my head.
I've read reviews that they add some "colour" to the sound. They somewhat do, but not so much in a way that gives a false perception of how the track sounds. I'm using them as monitoring/studio cans, and they're really fantastic. Initially my recordings are being done with these and then mixed with the Yamaha HS8's. The HS8's are always a more "honest" sound in my opinion - but the sound I hear in these headphones translates very well to the track I'm hearing on my monitors, and the slight little boost of colouring they do add makes it absolutely fantastic for doing the initial recording with in the first place.
All in all, this is a purchase I would happily make again.
Good and beautiful headphones.
I use it for a practise, recording, mixing and just listening a music!
If you gonna use them really often, then you need to order with spare ear pads.
You're looking at headphones with good sound for any occasion
Using this daily to listen, DJ, mix and master tracks for several years.
I'm yet to find any cons for this wonderful tool
Late review but a good one!
I've been using these cans for over a year now, great sound, accurate and provides a decent monitoring alternative for engineers with a little experience such as myself. The sound is great, bass & mids are excellent and highs are clear and pronounced (sometimes a little too pronounced).
They are comfortable to wear for just long enough to have a good session, and at least in my case I need to take them off about 1.5 hour, which is great since I SHOULD be doing that anyway as I forget to take breaks. Always protect your ears :)
And speaking of that, these can pack a punch so I suggest not going above half your soundcard's volume for too long.
Are other headphones better? Absolutely.
Will you find any better headphones in at this price? Definitely not, go get them if this is your budget!
Top for this price
If you look your first headphones ATH-50 x your choice!
Not studio worth it
These are terrible for using when recording in a studio. They squeak, squeak, squeak like crazy. There is so much noise, I simply cannot use them at all. They look cool, fine for listening to music. But, definitely not for recording your voiceovers or podcasts.
Expected something better
I'm gonna be completely honest. I have done a lot of research before buying this and I was heavily impressed by the reviews and don't get me wrong - it is good...just does not live up to the hype.
If you do a little bit of research on the cons, you will find that a lot of people find it to be NOT loud. Maybe we are just used to louder sounds. For us, an amp is a must but that's not very practical on the go. :(
Very good quality for the price
I was looking for a reference audio headphone with the flatest response in a budget. I'm very happy with this one.
Bit heavy, so cannot use it over an hour.
Sometime a bit to much audio pressure on my ears with the bass, bu my ears are quite senssitives.
Perfect for tracking, mixing and leisure listening
I have had these studio headphones for more than two years now.
I use them quite often for listening to music apart from mixing, tracking and referencing my guitar tones for recording.
I primarily play/record rock and metal.
Pros:
- the sound quality! You will notice a day and night difference if you compare it to any high end leisure headphones/earphones. Every (good/bad) detail is audible.
- these headphones are sturdy and robust. The build quality is excellent, even for slightly rough use.
- reasonable price for what you get out of it.
- comfortable for at least an hour of continuous use.
cons:
- none
Best headphones I could go for
Love these, the sound is just amazing. No tweaking needed at all. Using them with a Steinberg sound card but the sound is even better than expected. No fake boosting, there is bass but not forced. Just enough to round up the sound and give it depth. It sounds balanced and perfect to me.
The headphones fit perfectly onto my head, I normally have issues finding something that would sit well, everything normally seems too big and too loose, these clearly fit on 'smaller' heads as well. =)
They are a bit firm, not uncomfortable though. Not heavy, although you do become a little bit aware of them after wearing them for a couple hours. Still, nothing to complain about.
I would buy these again and again. Extremely satisfied.
Audio technica !!!
Super audio quality great noise cancelation great quality build but don't buy white its not practical gets dirty so fast.
Balanced and rich sounding headphones for the price.
These headphones are very good for listening to music at home or even mixing considering their price.
They have a rich and balanced sound with good extension in low frequencies which is certainly not overwhelming.
If you don't want really boosted lows and you seek for a relatively flat output without a lot of emphasis in specific frequencies then this headphones should be considered.
They are very comfortable and light-weight but rather big and chunky so I wouldn't recommend them for outdoors use.
They also have a decent external passive sound isolation.
Interesting features include detachable cables with 3 types of cables included, removable pads and they can fold to occupy less space.
White color model can become dirty easily.
Probably the best rated and quality headphones for the price.
Pros: very good sound quality, adequately flat frequency response, comfortable grip and light-weight, detachable cable with 3 options included, they fold, removable pads, durable
Cons: Chunky design, white color gets dirty
