Doepfer A-138M

What an essential and often overlooked module! Besides its obvious use for mixing audio and CV signals, Doepfer A-138M matrix mixer can also function as a sequencer: you can turn it into a 4 step chord sequencer (4 note chords!) or a 16 step traditional sequencer by adding a few additional modules. Feed gate outs 1-4 from either A-152 or A-161 into each respective input. Send each output to 1V/Oct inputs of your 4 VCOs. Play with a clock divider to find the right pace. Or do the same, but connect outputs into an A-151 and then into a VCO. Now you've got 16 steps! As always, very impressed with Doepfer.

This is one of those utility modules that proves to be more useful than you'd think. I've mounted mine at the edge of my modular's case so that I can easily access the controls rather than getting lost in the spaghetti of a complex patch and I use it for performance controls. Just a straight voltage through it and mult the output and I can sweep the cutoff accross my three filters ...all at once! Lovely! I also use it for subtle control over modulation depths (often for vibrato). You can of course put audio signals through it as well to send a dry signal to several effects at once (again through a multiple - I have a multiple mounted right beside the dual attenuator as I often use them in tandem). It's inexpensive, small, versatile and very useful.

I bought this item to use as a mixer for my Doepfer modules, I own 3 more modules and in order to be able to send only one output from my 3 modules I found out this mixer. I was not able to find any disadvantage for this item, the knobs have a good sensitivity, both inputs and outputs work just fine, and it is possible to connect this mixer to the main power suply. For a low number of outputs, as the ones I have this is a great choice for these systems, for biger systems maybe other options should be considered. So, all in all, I definitely recomend this item to incorporate in a Doepfer based system

First, it has a separate switch for inversion, that means you are always in control of zero. Second it has a switch to turn off the offset, which is handy in a live situation. Third, it'll amplify the incoming signal twice the original for "overdrive". Fourth, it has a sum output for both the incoming signals, and a separate summing output for the outgoing signals, and a -6dB switch for each sum output to cool off a hot signal. It is just 6 hp and gives you 3 attenuverters with the abovementioned properties. Unbeatable?
Doepfer A-138n

I am using A-138n with my medium sized modular setup. So far I did not use any mixer which felt very limiting to me. Pros first. It is very neat little module. With only 4hp it takes very little space which is absolutely nice. Knobs and patchpoints feel very solid. It also has tons of gain. One can find a lot of creative potential with not one, but two mix outputs. What is most important to me - it works nicely with both audio and cv signals. That makes A-138n super versatile option especially for people with small or medium-sized setup. On the cons side - it has too little space between the knobs. Or maybe I have too big fingers :). Anyway, it is quite rational if you need a module with such a compact size. I am very satisfied with A-138n. It is an exellent price-quality ratio product....

Total of 5 (!) stereo inputs. 4 of those inputs have individual volume control. The fifth input (AUX) is intended for chaining several of these units together. But can of course be used with any input. All inputs are normalized if you want to mix in a mono signal (so if you connect a mono signal to the left channel - and leave right channel unconnected - it is copied to the right channel). I believe this is the mixer with the most stereo inputs for the eurorack format that has a small footprint (6HP). Overall, excellent build quality and functionality!

Hexmix + Hexpander is an awesome system if you do not care about voltage control and want multiple sends and EQs in euro format. my biggest pluses + 3 send / stereo returns with post and pre + 3band eq on every channel + 3band master eq + playable vactrol (clickless) mutes + good overall quality and sound (personal feel, do not have xp with other bigger euro mixers) + switch for line/synth level on returns is nice to have if you use some external gear my biggest minuses - just manual pans :/, so you need to sacrifice 2 channels to do cv pan - no vca or other voltage control :/...(which is why to have modular) - only six channels, but usually it is enough for what I need or I just add few submixes - no stereo dedicated inputs / channels, would be really cool and handy from my point of view...
Frap Tools 333

I've been looking at this module for a while, and pretty pleased and glad that i purchased it. two reasons, firstly, as a great mult, well made product, build is awesome, and has a rock solid quality. secondly its a summing mixer, and something that all eurorack systems should have, it makes sense to level everything off, with all audio sources working from the same starting point. and the 6db pad, also tones down and controls, maybe too hot and wild audio levels. the reduction of 50% is great to bring control to your sound. and lastly, its a great module for cv sources and summing multiple signals, overall a brilliant module, well worth it and something that is a must have... looking at second one for my system, as the 333 is so useful and versatile, and fairly priced. as for pros and...
Doepfer A-132-4 VCA/Mixer
Based on 2 reviews
This is another of Doepfer's series of quad modules containing four identical circuits. These are compact and cost-effective. This one is only 6HP wide and each of the four exponential VCAs has two voltage control inputs (except the fourth one which uses a socket for a "sum" output from all the VCAs. The audio inputs are "normalled" and cascaded together but can be isolatedfrom each other by the use of jumpers, so that each VCA is completely independent, if desired. i think this is an incredibly useful and space-saving module, and as always from Doepfer, great value for money. Get one. Get two!!
Joranalogue Audio Design Morph 4
Based on 2 reviews
If you wish or need to, you can use this module as a standard 4 channel VCA. However, the main feature is the morph functionality, which allows you to blend those channels together. The blending can be done manually or via modulation sources and can happen at audio or sub-audio rates. For example, you can slowly mix different oscillators running through different filters to create shifting nuances of an otherwise static sound. Or, as shown in the manual, you can run an audio signal into the morph control, and use the module as a wave shaper.
