Behringer B5
Small Mambrane Condenser Microphone

Latest User Reviews
Incredible, given the price.
Perfect for rides and HiHats
Sounds great, looks great, small and easy to set up
Good sound quality, weak construction.
I've bought this mic to record my classical and steel-string guitars. For its price, it has a surprisingly good sound quality and the different options with button / windshield / capsules offer a variety of sounds and applications.
I've tested most of the combinations and some of them make it good for recording vocals as well.
In fact, for home-made demo recording there's no point to invest in something more expensive.
However, its construction has some flows. I received my mic with a missing screw on the mic holder, still don't know if I've lost it on unboxing or it was not put there at all. Also, the button is quite unstable and if not put carefully on position, there's no sound but only mains hum.
Overall, it's a nice piece of equipment for both instruments and vocals and despite its mechanical flows, it's surprisingly good for its price.
Nice mic for an acoustic guitar
It sounds very clean when I tried recording an acoustic guitar. It has an omni capsule which eliminates some of the low end frequencies of the guitar making it sound more clean and spatial.
The build quality is good, 4 out of, but for this price I can't ask more.
great Value
with 2 2 different heads it gives great options.
just put the -10dB on
I wass using the mic on hihats or rides, and had a problem where when the drumer really hit hard the ride or on a hihat, the mic wold almost distort a bit. Once i put on the -10dB pad and the sound wass 100 times better. For the money thats a great mic for like hihats, maybe also acoustic guitar.
Good but noisy
These mikes sound great if you know where to point them. I've used these in live and in studio situations. And they get the job done most of the time.
Why only most of the time? Because you have to be careful with moisture in the air. Mine have gotten noisy a few times because when the capsule spends a lot of time in a damp environment, the microphone's noise floor rises to unusable levels (at least for studio applications). My suggestion is to keep them in a dehumidifier every time you're not using them so you don't get any surprises. Learn from my mistakes. (I only rate this 4 stars because the electronics in the mike could have been a bit better in order for the noise floor not be so grossly amplified).
Behringer B5
Have two of them. Use this mics for hihat and overhead on stage. This mic works great for me. Great sound, replaceable capsules. Well made. Great buy for money. Handling bag is great. For 50 bucks you get everything you need. Best buy!
Great omni capsule
Relatively low self noise for both the omni and cardioid capsule.
You can easily record quiet sources and keep the noise floor low.
The omni capsule is my favorite, is is rather flat and sounds great on acoustics.
Compared to my other small condenser, a Rode M3 this microphone is much flatter and less harsh/bright. It even sounds good on vocals.
Excellent!
I have tested this microphone using Audiomatica Clio at 90dBSPL against an AKG 451 and they are virtually identical! Not sure about durability at present but it sound great! Why pay more?
