Best mic at this price point?

The mic is a great starting point for those who need a mic for speaking since it can compete with such a mic as Blue Yeti but is 5 times cheaper.

PROS:

1) Price. On the best microphones under a hundred euros straight from the box. If your speech is confident and loud enough, you won't hear complaints about the sound of your mic from others.

2) The sound is not "plastic". The mic does not create nasty notches in the spectrum and does not screw up frequency response (FR). FR is not flat but still sounds natural and pleasing.

CONS:

1) Noise level. You almost will not be able to hear the noise in a recording if you speak loudly enough, but when you apply a decent amount of compression or boost highs, the noise is pretty noticeable during silent moments, not so much during the speaking.

2) The sound is not as detailed as you would like to have. Even though it captures sound at a decent level, you will not be able to hear the slightest differences in volume or frequency changes as you would by using more expensive hardware.

3) Has small diaphragm

Solid budget gear

Looking for mic for home studio/demo material and this fits the bill. Nice solid construction. A bit lacking on bass but was great for vocals. Great purchase overall for those on a budget.

Good vaule

Good value mics: No bells and whistles but then you are not paying a fortune. I have used for recordings in churches and in my small home studio. They works well as a stereo pair once you get the cross over sorted 90 degrees works well for me. For acoustic Guitar / Ukulele keep at least 40cm away to avoid overload.

Okay mic, but the noise...

It's an okay mic, but the noise floor is too damn high!

Great sounding mic for the money

Well built mic with great sound quality for the price.

Has a very flat response and recorded everything perfectly clear. Not particularly good for recording low frequencies.

I used it a lot for vocals but could be used on anything that you want a clear flat sound from.

Great mic with low noise!

This mic marked my first foray into audio recording properly, and was exactly what I was looking for - very reliable, with very low noise!

Has a small light on the body to indicate it's functioning, which was a godsend when troubleshooting to see what the problem was! :D

Other than that, very sturdy build, with a good capacity for dealing with loud and quiet input!

Has taken quite a few knocks and bumps and still going strong!

Good value for money.

I bought this 2 weeks ago and I'm actually impressed with the performance. I use it for live audience capture to feed into an in-ear monitoring system for the band. The band is happier playing now they can hear the audiences too. The only issue is feedback but a few tweaks in mic positioning and eq sorted it out. We saved money getting this one instead of the more expensive ones for the purpose.

Good cheap condenser

Good cheap condenser that sounds quite good, looks quite good and build is quiet good and solid. All is good until you look inside and see the cheap circuit board thats smaller than a matchbox and looks like an apprentice Elecricians year 1 project. Still.....sounds ok, looks ok...builds o.........

Cheap and effective

I record a bit at home, I am not a professional but I wanted better sounding vocals than I was getting from my old SM58. Large diaphragm is the way to do that, and having had plenty of decent behringer gear before, i figured I would get this. I was not disappointed. It is robust, and has the big warm sound that you would associate with this type of microphone. I've used it to mic up vocals, acoustic guitars and pianos, and been very happy with the results. Pair it up with a valve pre-amp (such as the behringer mic100 ultragain and you will get everything you ever wanted from a vocal sound.

Nice mic for the price.

I bought this a while back, and got plenty of use from it before giving it to a friend. They're good enough quality to make some decent recordings when starting out, and pretty sturdy. Would recommend this for the money.

Behringer C1 Microphone

I bought the Behringer C1 as I was looking for a condenser microphone for home and demo recording of vocals and acoustic instruments. I was initially worried by the price that the quality would be low. But, on arrival it was immediately apparent that the microphone was of a good build quality. It has a robust metal chasis and metal pop shield. There is also a red LED to show that phantom power is being sent and the mic is opreational.

I have so far used the mic for recording vocals, acoustic guitar, resonator guitar and hand percussion. All have been of a good enough standard for demo recordings to be used on band websites and promotional CD's.

I have used other more expensive mics in studios and there is a sound quality difference if you compare them side by side. But to the untrained ear, the C1 sounds very good. For the money, I would recommend this to anyone on a budget and looking for a reasonable recording mic.

Good value

It's a reasonable quality budget microphone.

I thought it was quite noisy at first but that turned out to be a problem elsewhere. (I think a lot of us beginners have this problem!)

Fabulous! No other words for it at this price

I'm using this for recording my current album, together with the 1204 mixer. See my review of that for details about problems I had with the headphone amp making me think this mic was not up to it - very noisy on that but check out the playback from the recording - absolutely perfect! Best to find a decent headphone amp as well, to hear what this mic is really capable of delivering. If you want to hear a sample of the work I have done with this rig, check out my soundcloud latest recordings at you can compare the difference to the earlier recording done with the Ipad internal mic - quite a difference, yet the Ipad has a great mic also, so that saying a lot for the C1. I was worried at first yet now I am completely satisfied and am not looking for another mic, at any price - this is perfectly good enough to record an album with. At this price it is a gift from Behringer to all of us poor musician folk strugling to survive and do our work as well. Thanks Mr B.

Great for the price!

It is cheap but very good microphone. You can use it in a lot applications and it will do the job. Great for home studio.

Not a bad starter mic

This was the first mic I bought for recording. It did the job fine for a first mic.

The mic slightly exaggerates the top end (like most cheap condensers).

When I first bought this mic I used it mainly for vocals and guitars. Now I have a more expensive condenser I still use this one as a secondary if the other is in use. I mainly use it as a drum room mic now.

I'd recommend people who are considering this mic also look at the Behringer B1. The B1 is more expensive but in my opinion is well worth the extra money.
