Behringer Crave 5-stars Reviews
What a piece of gear!
I've had the Crave in my possession for quite a while now, but only have recently started to explore it. This little box really amazes me with its depth and possibilities. Being only monophonic with a single oscillator it is incredibly versatile and really shines when driven through a reverb pedal. In that aspect it really becomes clear that this is a really clever Moog-alike synth, yet highly affordable. I may even get a second unit to expand the patching and modulation options.
The little orange box presents itself with enough versatility for a seasoned synth user while still being highly recommendable as a learning opportunity for those interested in modular synthesis.
Fun synth glad i bought, at this price you can't go wrong
Superawesome piece of gear in an affordable package
Get two of those. Just. It sounds amazing and super fun to play with.
Great!
Excellent mono synth at a great price! You can get some absolutely twisted sounds out of this thing!
For this little money you cannot go wrong! Itâs superb
Love it to bits, excellent sound, lots of patch points, it looks gorgeous too and there are some patch cords in the box as well. You gotta love behringer for their offerings;) also pairs nicely with neutron:)
I did replaced knobs tho as originals have sort of less grip but it might just be me:D
one of the best releases from behringer
i love everything about this synth .
A magic for this price
A very powerful synth, from leads, to bass to simple fm sounds, I used to play softsynth and the physical semi modularity is a wonderful discovery for me.
Great for what it is
This is basically a Mother 32 for a fraction of the price. The sound is pretty much exactly the same, the build quality is great, the knobs are a little bit wobbly/loose but only very slightly. This is great a great synth for the price.
Amazing synth. Still exploring all features and possibilities but the sound is awsome and the space between knobs gives the possibilitie to tweak sound easily. Great metal and wood case. Really great look.
First Behringer synth
So far LOVE the build, the sound and everything about the look ! Didn't imagine that a one OSC synth could sound so fat. The filter has the creamy sound, knobs feel very sturdy. Connectivity very easy. This will be a great addition to my collection :)
I will definitely use this for my live setup.
Pros already mentioned in the top.
Cons:
The jacks a little bit wobbly.
The quick start guide could be more detailed.
One hell of a "mother"
Practically a mother 32, but significantly cheaper - the only big difference is the 3340 analog oscillator - which is very nice anyway, apart from that all the patch points are the same, the sequencer works the same etc... Highly recommended.
Got one, want another!!
Absolutely great entry level analogue synth.
Great feel easy to explore and find your way around but for double the fun get 2!!
PROS :-
For an analogue synth you can't get much simpler
Great build quality.
Good product support.
Easy & intuitive.
Does more than what you'd expect at this price point.
Building sequences can be done through the Behringer app quicker than through the built in sequencer.
CONS (if this is really one)
It makes you feel the need to add more modular gear !!
Overall, very impressed and happy I made the purchase.
The Crave is an excellent device.
I absolutely love it. First out of the box it looks amazing and the orange colour is tastefully picked, I never thought I would want an orange synth in my studio... The build quality is fantastic and you most certainly do not feel like you are picking up a toy when you hold it. The knobs are very smooth and not loose, the switches feel very sturdy and the buttons have the right feel to them (for what they are).
As for the sound; I am really pleased with it. If you have seen any videos online you will know exactly how it sounds and being able to shape your own preset right there and then is something I always enjoy. Some people will complain about not being able to save presets but I personally prefer my analog synths this way.
I still have to wrap my head around the semi modular part but that will be a fun learning curve, it is also nice that six patch cables were supplied with it!
Over-all what you are getting for the price is absolutely ridiculous - in a very good way.
great build quality and also sound quality is awsome too
great synth especially for the money it cost ..just learning how to patch sounds so great intro to that also...another job well done behringer ...getting impatient on my RD8 though...lol
A must have !
A report sound, build quality and price quite amazing ! And with his patch panel and step sequencer it is very playful 👍
very good synth for the price
Craving the Crave
I've been testing the crave for a short period of time and I must say I'm pretty impressed with the machine, the sounds you can create are pretty fat for a one oscillator synthesizer, the patch holes gives you nearly endless possibilities to make the sounds even fatter or crazier, its a lot of fun for the low price.
However it was a small puzzle to figure out how to sync the module to my drum machine over midi, but the quick guide made it clear in the end.
The build quality is 4 out of 5 stars, its surprisingly heavy, so it wont be scooting off your desk on its own, I think it can withstand a small earthquake. However the patch holes and the little switches dont leave much confidence in the build quality. However for the low low price of 159 euro, I dont think we should complain too much.
Its a fun little box full of good sounding surprises and the easy to use sequencer is a nice bonus, you can't go wrong on this one. Besides that you'll get the two year warranty just like any other Behringer product. Well done.
A must have for analog synth lovers!
The biggest plus side of this instrument is of course the price. The amount of features and the sound quality you get for what you pay is insane.
First, the main cons:
-Limited outputs. You either have the headphones output or the line out, but both are 3.5mm jack.
-"Keys" are not nice to play with. Meaning, if you buy this synth, I'd highly suggest using a MIDI keyboard with it.
-Important settings are "hidden" behind unclear button combinations. This means you'll have to keep the manual nearby, in case you want to change some settings like tempo sync, and need to figure out what button combo to press.
These are the biggest complaints I've had with the Crave so far, and honestly, they're not as much complaints as they are nitpicks.
The pros are mentioned everywhere. The sound is absolutely fantastic, the price is super accessible, the main controls are right there, the modularity is great. All in all, I really enjoy the Crave, and everything it does.
Honestly, I wish this synth existed back when I started, because I feel like the Crave is probably a really good introductory synthesizer, as long as you have a MIDI keyboard to go with it.
The Crave sounds absolutely stunning. It's a beautiful synth. I am happy.
