Behringer HB01 Hell Babe Reviews
Outstanding Product
This is even better than I thought it would be.
For the price it’s a giant killer.
Quality build and very user friendly.
I highly recommend this pedal.
No moving parts the ware out Has to be a bonus??
Great option for gentle Wah
This isn?t an aggressive wah pedal and gives a really nice soft funk tone. With some additional pedals you can rock this up nicely.
Has nice features and is sensative enough for ambient tones.
Really flexible wah wah.. Highly recommended
can't beat it in this price
Half price of the dunlop...hmm let's try it was my first thought
Build like a tank,I don't thing anyone can destroy that pedal.
The only thing that annoys me is the position of the led, overall I'm very happy with my purchase.
Very good wah-wah for this price
Very good price. After several months of use, there is no problem. Not the best, but pretty good sound. I use it both at home and on stage. Recommend.
VFM
I needed a Wah Wah pedal for my pedal board for use in rehearsals and live performances. However, since I use it in 1/5 of the songs, I did not want to spend a fortune on it.
And then I saw this one and watched some YouTube videos to get an idea.
Now that I have it I can say it is worth it if you are also using it for a few songs.
+Build quality
+Sound of the effect
+Many options to make your Wah sound the way you like
-The LED which shows that your Wah is engaged, is in a bad position. You can not actually see that light in a live performance since your leg covers the view.
All in all though, I would definitely recommend it.
Great wah for the price, but..
Pros:
- great price
- flexibility in finding the right sound - quite wide arrange of sounds
- light indicators when wah/boost is on
- well built
- boost function
- possibility to adjust wah switch off timing
Cons:
- there is an annoying sound/click when wah goes off (when you lift your foot) - not too loud, but still
- somehow I feel that it needs more space when you rock the pedal - the moving range of the pedal seems not large/long enough
- a bit too small knobs for fine tuning, Q, and boost level
All in all, at this price there is not much to complain - great value for money despite cons.
So, i would say the overall rating is very good, just not excellent :)
Good Pedal for the price
There is a short crackle sound while activating the pedal everytime when stepping on it. I've found this generally works better for bass guitars.
Good wah pedal
I was looking for a cheap wah pedal. It's first time that I use wah, so I'm not experienced about wah but I think it sounds good,
The material feels high quality. Because of it's weight (not light) I can use it without slipping on the ground. No problem to use with ) 9V battery.
Overall, it's a great value of money.
Surprisingly good wah pedal
I was looking for an affordable wah pedal that I could later modify with different electronic parts. All I wanted, was an optical control (lasts longer and is just more reliable). I picked this one, but in the end, I kept the original electronics, as it sounds surprisingly good! It offers a lot of controls to shape the output sound to your liking. It does not have a switch, because it switches on/off automatically when you move the pedal. I didn't trust that at first, but it's MUCH more convenient than a standard mechanical on/off switch, and again, you can control how fast it switches off.
When activated, it adds some noise to the signal, but for distorted sounds it's not that noticeable. It becomes worse with the boost. Looks like it's not shielded inside at all. It is a thick plastic chassis, so not that bad, but definitely don't try to stand on it. The wah effect happens only in a relatively short region of the pedal movement (can be DIY-modified).
It has its issues, but it's perfect as your first wah pedal OR as a cheap basis for further modifications, if you're into that.
Just ok
I bought this one for the price. And for the price, it's ok. I've tried two other wahs, the crybaby and one in a Boss multieffect. The sound is not as good or warm as the former; and the use is not as easy as with the latter. It has quite a few options, in terms of tone and sound, which might be good for some people, but I find as a nuisance; I prefer basic "switch and play" pedals, but this one needs more time and trying. If you're ok with that, then you'll probably like it more than I do. Apart from that, size is fine (similar to, but smaller than, the normal crybaby), and it seems well built (so far no issues after use).
Very ambitious pedal for its price
It has been a couple of weeks since I own this pedal and so far I am pleased with it.
Behringer tried to put several features into this pedal and somehow still managed to keep the price low.
The good:
The pedal sounds good and the controls are not just for the looks, they do make a significant change on the tone/sound. Thanks to its versatile Q-control and additional fine-tune control, it gives the user a big room for tweaking the tone. The optical control is easy to get used to and (probably) more durable because it does not rely on additional movable parts. The pedal seems solid, it does not feel like it might break any moment. But most importantly, I could dial-in the wah-tone that I wanted, and I guess that is what matters the most.
The bad:
Since it does not have an on/off button, the pedal goes off when you lift your foot. This is nice but it causes an abrupt tone change. The time it takes to go off can be adjusted with a switch under the pedal but it only delays/shortens the tone change. it is inevitable. For example after lifting your foot, when you are already in the middle of the next riff/melody, the tone suddenly changes. But do not be scared, the change in the tone is not too ear-bothering.
Overall, it is definitely a good buy for its price. It has significantly more ups than it has downs.
Great Wah
It's a great wah pedal not only for its money. it's great overall. If you place it before the overdrive pedals it doesn't have an increase in volume . There is increase in volume only in clean sound but not so that it causes problems
Good for the price
I had it for a month or so and it's just fine. Sounds way better than the VOX wah for the same price. I'm planning on buying the Kirk Hammet wah, just because I tested it in the store and I dig it a lot. Also Hammet knows what he wants from a wah pedal.
But this one is nice and works well. I suggest using the "time" button to set it up so it doesn't go off immediately after you go back to start position but rather a second or two later. That way it feels and plays better imo.
Will return to this feedback after I get the change to test it properly.
Great product for its price
I bought the Behringer HB01 Hell Babe 2 months ago. My experience with it being the first wah pedal that I own is satisfying. At first, getting used to the optical sensor take some time, but after that it's like a normal 100 euro wah pedal.
Some of its cons are the build quality, which to me it seems like it is not build to last to much, and the fact that it has an optical sensor make it so you can't leave it on for solo for example, you'll have to keep your foot on it and keep it study for this.
Over all I think it's a great value-for-money wah pedal with tons of features and highly recommend it.
Wahwah!
Build is like a tank and has all the features you desire.
I use it with synths mainly and the sound does not disappoint,i have to admit thought it is my first wah wah pedal,so i don't have a direct comparison to make but i like the sound :)
Good product
Good sounds and easy to operate. I just wished that is was made from metal and not plastic.
A great budget wah
I bought this pedal in order to get close to Frusciante's work and it's great. I recommend this even to beginners.
Great budget wah
Great features, but not the best sound in the world. For my practise combo setup its excellent and I am sure I could gig it as well. Looks solid.
Exactly as you'd expect a wah to perform. Does what it needs to. Easy to use. Quite big and chunky but this suits me
It makes the right noises
In a world where £90 is the expected price for a decent wah this pedal is very cheap but offers a very good pedal for the money. The construction is plastic buy feels very strong and it still looks like new after spending a lot of time on my pedal board.
The big pro for this pedal you don't need to activate a physical switch to turn the effect on, something that can be a bit hit and miss on traditional wah pedals is now very easy. As soon as you love the pedal the effect kicks in, once you take your foot and the pedal goes to its resting place it will switch off. This makes the wah very easy to engage for very short passages of play that simply wouldn't be possible on some of the industry standard models.
It's also adjustable with a dial on the side, which is another feature more expensive models sometimes don't have. There's also a boost feature, which can be handy to lift a solo, the button for this is on the side and easy enough to turn on and off with your foot
All in all for not much money you're getting a good sound, a good enclosure and added adjustability. Really good value pedal. Perfect for the gigging musician who isn't worried about using the bright brand or for those who want their first wah without breaking the bank.
