Behringer HM300 Heavy Metal Distortion Reviews
Will Dimebag Dime From Hell Still Be On Sale
This Pedal is great for Heavy metal, and black, sound was perfect, and so cheep, 10/10
Distraction pedal
Brilliant pedal altogether. Brilliant sound. It's just amazing in general
I like it more than my multi effect
Effect works real great both with guitar and bass, has lots of configuration range, and while build quality might not make you optimistic at first, I don't think it'll break any time soon. Solid, cheap option.
good, but.....
this was good.....before you could buy similar, and much better built, pedals from Harley Benton! Check out their Extreme pedal, not just metal sound, but made of metal. Or their Drop Kick, really brilliant, for almost half the price of the Behringer!
Old school black metal
This is an integral part of all metal music, being a Chinese knockoff of the original distortion pedal used by metal bands back in the 90s.
Definitely important to get this on your pedalboard.
Sounds amazing!
I use it with all the knobs maxed out for the classic black metal tone. It nails it - it is absolutely amazing and the most affordable way to get that tone. I love it and recommend it!
HM2 Clone
Price --> It is THE BEST deal around. Period. You can get a new one quite cheap. And you can replace easily it for the same model with no budget explosion.
Material --> It's plastic yeah.... So if you don't kick it around like a football or stomp it like the Hulk, it will actually last you for several years.
Sound --> I've been using it live for several years now and it never disapponted me.
Astounding
Beats my Digitech DF7 often.
Very smooth, clear, cohesive sound, no matter how much you crank it up.
And it goes all the way.
I hear no difference from the original pedal.
An excellent and versatile pedal
Behringer often have a bad reputation for "cheapness" but this is entirely unjustified. The casing may be plastic but it is extremely durable, and I once attempted to break the pedal apart but gave up, it may as well be steel casing.
This specific pedal is also an extremely faithful HM-2 clone, one of the most versatile pedals I've ever tried. The amount of change to the tone you get from just adjusting the mid controls is out of this world.
At this price, unless you already own an HM-2, there is no reason you should not own a Behringer HM300.
great for beginners
amazing if looking to get started into pedals but all round not very good for much else.
Itâs a HM3 clone
It has that huge chainsaw sound! The kids are a bit different to an original, but it’s amazing quality and sound!
It will work
I thought that this would be a nice cheap and easy way to get some distortion on my guitar.
One of the first things I noticed was that the knobs seem to be scraping against something when you turn them, you can hear and feel it.
It is a very aggressive sound which you'd expect from a Heavy Metal distortion, it works well for single coils, but on my humbucker it becomes difficult to dial in a tone.
effect pedal
it's too good! you can make your guitar to sound like something else! Awesome product with good quality and sound!
Make your guitar sound like a chainsaw!
This pedal is modeled after the Boss HM-2 and while it doesn't sound exactly like that pedal, one can certainly get some gnarly sounds out of it. This pedal is not a one-trick pony and I have been able to get several types of high gain sounds out of it!
Excellent HM-2 clone for nearly 0 bucks.
An excellent and genuinely well done clone of the HM-2. I actually have had recording clients sell their vintage HM-2's and get this for gigging for ease of use. It comes in a fashionable pink and does all you'd expect. I actually use this more for shoegaze textures than anything else and it's also great at this.
The only downside is that, unlike the original, this can only operate at 9V. The original HM-2 has extra headroom at 18V which means the EQ doesn't crap out quite as quickly at high gains. It'd be nice to have the option of this, or of having lower overall gain to improve its ability to pair with other drives. But for the money..how could you go wrong?
Early nineties metal sound for cheap
I bought this one for nostalgic reasons more than anything. I owned the Boss HM one in the nineties and sold it at some point (I think). It became an iconic sound for that particular time, and I still enjoy the records with the chainsaw-sounding guitars. Having said that, the sound wasn't actually all that good. I mean, it was ok and certainly scared the neighbours, but hearing yourself or be heard during band practice or gigs, not so much.
I like to plug it in from time to time and play some nasty sounding death metal. It's a fun little pedal and a fraction of the price of the Boss HM-2.
What your expecting at an incredible price
This pedal is very fun for dialing and exploring a variety of over the top sounds. Gain rolled back i even think its usable in more situation than one. But The sound your expecting its there. Only drawback would be that most of the time the EQ and Gain is a bit hard to dial because it goes from "a little effect" to "a damn lot", its not very progressive. I didn't mind the plastic case because it looks quit sturdy.
Superb quality for this price!!!
This pedal is good pedal that is affordable and has a lot to offer. It gives me a gain which i do not get with the amp. Although it is made from plastic, it is very firm.
Swedish sound in a plastic housing
Does what it suppose to do
Cheap but fun
When reviewing a product like this, one has to keep the question in mind... "What did I expect for a pedal this cheap?"
It's overall good considering it is really bottom-of-the-barrel price wise. It sounds like what it is trying to be. It is also made of dirt cheap materials, and I could easily imagine it breaking by simply looking at it wrong.
It's in the lowest price range of pedals, I bought it just to get a different sound at home, so more or less as a toy. I don't need to say that if you're looking to use it for gigging, or anything involving regularly moving it, you should get something not made of cheap plastic.
