Does exactly what it says

I was a bit sceptical a first. It's just a small little box.

However, it does exactly what it says.

I use it to remove hum from my synth going into my mixer/recorder and it's amazing.

A true little magic box :-D

Worth the money

Working with 2 tube amps and had the ground loop hum. Installed this between ONE of the amps and the hum was gone. No tone suck ore anything. And its realy cheap. Perfect budget choice. Can’t find any negative points

A studio saver!

Weirdly enough, there doesn't seem to be any other similar devices around. As always when I buy Behringer I am skeptical until I plug the thing in and see what comes out... I have to say for this little black box I couldn't be more delighted!

It just does what it says on the tin: my Moog Minitaur/Roland JU-06/JP-08, all usb-ed on my computer do not make any ground loop noise anymore. And, contrary to what I read on other reviews, I cannot hear any volume drop and the sound is absolutely not affected at all! On top of that the chassis is made of sturdy metal, and after dropping one a few times, there wasn't a scratch on it.

At that price it's just unbeatable... maybe that's why other companies don't even bother making their own versions!

A handy small box

It really does what it says in the description. Any pickup noise or hum is eliminated. The unit is a passive and could easily fit to any bag. So no worries about battery or space.

Hum cancelation

Very good product for its price, although it doesn't take away the noise surpressor on my guitar pedalboard

A simple little solution

This little box plugged in between your PA and your speakers removes that buzzing/clicking sound you get from plugging in a laptop/computer with a 3 pin mains socket.

Solid casing, no moving parts and all you need is a couple of patch leads and you're away.

I suffered from unbearable hum/noise with my Yamaha HS7 active speakers, made worse by doing stuff on computer like moving mouse. The speakerds were pretty much unusable. I tried connecting the to the same outletw with computer, to different outlet, to seperate outlets, nothing helped. I bought this babt and BAM, the noise is 100% gone.

If you're considering buying this product PLEASE learn what it is for and what it isn't. I've seen some 1 star reviews on amazon from people who thought this would remove hum from their guitar pick ups... This isn't for that kind of hum! It's for noise generated by ground loop which it fixes perfectly! I know people have certain bad expectations towards Behringer gear but this is a simple piece of equipment that does it's job perfectly.

Practically tool

The HD-400 really works! Ground loops, humming noise etc. are effectively suppressed by this device. Especially with the connection of notebooks to mixing consoles there are often problems with the used power supplies. Operated on battery power, everything is OK.

If you connect the HD400 between notebook and mixing console output, everything is now quiet.

This one is a must have for every sound tool case.

The inputs of the HD-400 are mono ¼? Jacks, outputs are stereo ¼? Jacks, so adaptors are needed.

The HD400 also can be used to connect a mixer with unbalanced outputs to an amplifier with balanced inputs.

A DI box could be used instead, but would change the signal level.

The housing looks cheap, but it´s the function that counts.

Breaks ground loops at 4 cable method

I use a Randall RH-50T amp with a Boss GT-8 effects unit via the 4 cable method.

This lead to a very annoying ground loop between the guitar input and the effects loop.

With this handy device the humming stopped immediately.

Also comes in very handy on stage if any problems with humming ground loops suddenly appear.

Although I have to admit that the signal experiences a little decrease in volume when you send it through the HD400. But not by very much, so it doesn't really count as a downside.

Especially when losing that annoying hum on an instant is the big upside.

Forget the expensive stuff

This little device solved a major problem. When I connect my laptop computer with my active studio monitor speaker a humming noise occurs. Tried an Art DTI hum eliminator - wouldn’t work. After a little while of internet research I found people recommending the HD400. Well, it does its job perfectly! Little money, great effect. If you have hum in your circuitry, try the HD400!

HD400 Review

I purchased the Behringer HD400 as i have encountered ground loops at some venues and practice spaces due to my use of the 4 cable method between a tube amp head (peavey 5150II) and an external pre-amp (digitech GSP1101).

This little device when placed in the send and return section got rid of the ground loop hum problem easily.

its small and easy to fit either in the back of a rack or ontop of an amp head

the only downside is there is a noticable drop in volume when using this product. its nothing to bad, 4dB at the most, easily cured with more volume on the amp head itself

all in all a great, cheep, effective and easy solution to an irritating problem. if you have ground loop hums you have no excuse not to purchase this product
