Behringer MX400 Reviews
simplicity above all
I does what it is supposed to do in the easiest way.
Rock solid box, precise knobs.
Just pay attention to your power supply source if you wish to use your favorite multi-output power supply: this item requires a 12V DC CENTER POSITIVE.
It's exactly what it seems to be
A really really cheap ultra compact mixer. Don't expect it to be high quality, but for the money you pay you get a neat little unit. I've been using it to send multiple instruments/vocals through a series of pedals. Earlier on I've been using a regular sized 4 xlr channel mixer and boy this thing have helped me a lot! It's like one fifth of the size and weight of the old one. Makes gigging way easier. It even saved our asses one time when we could only use a single amp to rehearse- luckily I had this in my bag and we were able to get all the guitars amplified. I usually carry it around with me for gigging just in case some smaller venue might have technical problems or something. It's a really good safety net. The size of a regular effect pedal.
I can only recommend it!
Does its job fairly well
I use this to combine inputs from different folk instruments into one DI box for when gigging. Some are passive, some are active piezo, one is active humbucker.
Unity volume seems to be at about 1 o'clock, increasing the gain on any input channel beyond this may start to overdrive (though it keeps in clean on passive instruments).
The build quality is solid, and dials move smoothly. Comes with a EU 12v power supply and adapter to the PSU needed for your country.
Excellent tiny mixer
I have two of these mixers, one on my pedal board. Perfect fore mixing for sound sources and it has its own power supply. I wish there were a version that ran on batteries as well. However this is an excellent product that I use on a daily basis.
BAD SURPRISE - ONLY MONO
Nice box, but out comes only monaural signal, or if I plugged a stereo device, from output you hear only left channel.
Cheap and simple mixing desk
I was needing a mixing apparatus so i could merge various signals from different sources and the Behringer MX400 was the cheapest, simplest and smallest of all.
It does a decent job as its low in noise if you don't turn it up to 11.
The small form was a deciding factor as i can use the mixing desk on top of my synths or on my pedalboard without to much hassle.
It has a great feature that is working as a passive mixing desk if the power is out.
The building is ok with a metal chassis and the knobs feel fine.
I have used it in more applications that I was thinking of when i get it.
Sometimes me and my friends want to jam (2 guitars with pedals, a bass and a synth) and now we can all do it using just one amp.
It would be perfect if it could be battery powered but i guess you can't ask for everything at this price point and probably it would drain the batteries in a few minutes so Behringer's engineers don't give us that option.
If you need a small, well build, simple and cheap mixing desk i would recomend the Behringer MX400
Great for my sound effects
I bought this tiny little mixer to enable me to build a little sound effects board.....i wanted to connect in a Kaosillator, Mini Theremin, Random Tone Generator so that i could run them all through my delay effects. This little mixer is ideal. The quality and sound for the price are exceptional and i am a big fan of Behringer equipment which is of a decent standard and very affordable. This little mixer is easy to use and very small which allowed me to mount it on a board with the other effects very easily. I would definitely recommend this unit if you are looking to put together a small effects board.
Great for drum mics
I use this for miking up my drums to free up space on the mixer. I connect up the 3 tom mics to the MX400 using xlr to 1/4 jack mic cables. Then I connect the MX400 up to one of the mic preamps on the mixer. It uses up less mic preamps on the mixer that way. job done. Sturdy bit of kit too.
Cheapest way to get your in-ear monitors to work properly. I bought Shure Se215 with this box, and few cables and it's all i need to get sound on stage right in my ears. Price is incredible and it does the basic job. Mix up to 4 lines in one.
good cheap option for home or hobbyist
I use it to connect two guitars (can connect upto 4) to one amp. Works pretty well, and is very simple to use. There is however a little white noise that it adds to the output. Not very loud, but it is audible. Definitely not recommended for recording, but works for me for practicing with a friend.
