Great sounding TB-303 clone

This is a great sounding TB-303 clone, the best out there to my opinion. Soundwise, as well as pricewise. A must for every electronic music producer.

No brainer - the best clone yet

For years I have looked at and pondered the various clones that have been made of the (in)famous Roland TB-303. I'm sure I'd bought one sooner. But the price point was always just out of reach. I resigned to using ABL3 Computer Bassline which until now has sated my desire for the 303 sound. Along comes Behringer with their take on this highly desirable aging, quirky machine. I am a child of the Acid House era. As soon as I heard a 303 I've longed for my own. And this ticked all the boxes. The sound is as close as you'll ever get to the original. Programming it has been kept to the original's specification (painful), which will put some off. But this is what I wanted too in a masochistic way. Finally the price made it an absolute no brainer to buy instantly.

Everyone needs a 303. Right?

A dream come true

Its genuinely hard to believe that they managed to get the unique TB-303 filter, CV outs and distortion circuit, along with the original sequencer, into a box at this price. That it sounds almost indistinguishable is nearly secondary - this thing is a fraction of the price of the MC-303, half the price of the x0xb0x (*and pre-assembled) and honestly on par if not better than anything out there 303 wise at the moment.

Even if it didn't sound *that* good you'd be delighted with a piece of hardware with those capabilities at pound shop prices. Now realise that it can be seen in the likes of Carl Cox's live rigs in conjunction with things likes Moogs DFAM and 10,000 euro modular rigs and you begin to understand what a revelation this is.

Buy one. Scroll through factory preset patterns. Start twiddling the cutoff and resonance. Realise you have a big dirty smile on your face. Start trying to reason to yourself that another one is definitely justifiable at this price.

Norman Cook had it almost right - everybody needs a TD-3.

Affordable Acid

Nice entry level 303-clone. Hav had it for a year, still works well even with a lot of traveling and live-gigs. A bit og a hassle to understand the programming part of the sequencer, but just like biking, once you got it, you will never unlearn it.

I would wish that it was heavier tough, because it feels like it is just a hollow case... maybe I will put some weights on it just to make it feel more robust.

i had original, sound not the same, but not worse - little different, but with option to do all the imposible programing in an app makes it in my opinion better

I was waiting for this one!

The price is really on the budget side. Had it for a few days now, and by god, it's lovely to have a real acid machine in your hands!

Pros:

€ 133!! for a TB Clone - with build-in Distortion! Yay! :) so much fun in one little box!

Loyal to the original machine.

It's really close to the source sound - but a bit more bright than the original (can be darkened - but would not recommend losing warranty).

Cons:

Full-on plastic mania - probably to stick with the original TB (was also plastic).

Although loyal to the source, it would be a charm to put a tiny screen to see the tempo (but this is just me - or not?).

Go for it!

Go for it!

Sounds good!!!

The sequencer is also amazing, specially the random function.

I've compared it to the MB33, that is a bit more "raw".

It looks and behave just like a 303, with a lot of fun additions.

Best budget 303

Brilliant clone, the sound is almost identical to the original and the added usb functionality makes programming easy. The built in distortion is a fun extra too.

Great sound

Use in my home setup. Sounds authentic and a great price. The distortion is great extra. Might get another one, so I can run two.

Best ever

this has to be the closest thing to the original Roland 303

You can feel the analogue difference through the sound.

If you have not got €4k for an original - this is worth every penny and more.

Don't forget to let the circuits warm up for 10 mins for the best sound - I Love Analogue.

Sounds and feels like it

Sounds and feels like real 303 but for the price abmitious musician can afford. Since it's real analog, wait unitl warms up before recording! Programming patterns via Usb is a blessing and built in distortion unit brings up instant acid sound 303 was made famous for. Since Roland's version in the 80s wasn't intnded to be their most iconic piece of gear and became a legend rather by misusing it over house/techno scenes - Behrinher seem respecting both visions in their tribute while keeping original hieroglyphic user interface and light plastic chassis on one end, then adding a distoriton unit on the other...

Offer you just can't refuse

For this price its a no brainer to have this cool machine in the studio. Its cool to work it the old way with the quirky sequencer, but its also easy to sequence it externally. Great value for money!

Finally a very good 303 clone at an exceptional price!

This was such a good deal, that I actually bought two TD-3s, and I'm practically playing, along with my RD-8, hardware Rebirth 338 (1.0) sessions!

Behringer added a few patch points, so you can control your TD-3 externally, and a nice distortion unit that adds a lot of bite to the sound, however, they kept the original sequencer, which may be tricky to use!

Bear in mind, there may be a slight deviation to the filter tuning. Nothing serious, but some people prefer the darker sound that some original units had. If you know what you're doing, there's a workaround to tune the filter to taste.

A second note: The unit is extremely light and plasticky but then again, the original TB-303 was plastic too, so no worries! Finally don't forget to update the firmware, since it fixes an issue with slide.

There is not much to be said about the legendary sound of Acid that this device produces. It has been the staple sound of many genres, for the past 35 years. So can't miss this one, if EDM is your thing.

Best piece of hardware!

Maybe not so legendary like original 303.. but great!

Uli`s time machine has struck a winner

A 303 clone at this price is only matched by the mab33.

If you are looking for the quirky 303 experience the TD3 is pretty much a perfect clone, I would have released a different effect with each colour but hey distortion is a fun additive. The updated synth tool now works a lot better, making pattern editing really easy. Hardware much more fun than a plugin ^^
