Behringer U-Phoria UM2 4-stars Reviews
Does the job
It functions exactly as you would expect. And would get 5 stars if the components were just a little higher in quality.
I went for a cheaper and DI and wasn't disappointed
I wanted something cheap to start my hobby home studio, and for my first purchase, I went for this DI. It feels a little cheap since it's so light and because of the material, but it gets the job done. After a year of use, I'm still happy with my purchase.
Nice for the money
It is cheap so I didn't expect much.
You get what you pay for but its not bad, there is a constant really quiet humming while its connected though. It gets the job done so i can't complain there. The construction is plastic but it's not a concern to me, it sits on the table anyways so it doesn't matter. The knobs and connectors are good.
It was a bit difficult to set up at first but it's working great now.
So far so good ð
It's great for its price. The case and knobs are made of plastic so no interference protection. But for amateur use it's fine. I needed it to power up my ecm8000 and did so great.
Cheep but effective
If handle with care, is fine for home recording
Affordable, Reliable
I use this device in my office for MS Teams calls, and the pre-amp and DA conversion is more than sufficient to deliver a decent quality to my audience.
UM2
I use this audio interface to learn playing on the instrument. Cheap device a quite noisy, but performs it function. If you are a beginner guitarist and you need an audio interface, you may need to choose this product
Had some issues with setup, now works great
I had some issues setting this interface up initially.
If you're having the issue where audio from your DAW comes through fine but no other audio plays (youtube, spotify etc.), go into the ASIO driver control panel and set input and output sample rate to 44.1khz, also disable exclusive mode.
Quality of the materials is ok and there isn't much noise coming through.
Pros
¤ Price
¤ Official ASIO Driver
¤ Good Build Quality for Price Range
Cons
¤ ASIO Drivers work well, but hard to find.
The best plan B
So, i bought this Behringer because i was looking for a plan b interface, to go out and record in battle, so yeah, for the price you get a very nice quality and a very portable and handy interface. Very recommended.
Don't go with cheaper interfaces than this one
I use it for microphone XLR recording mostly, and in that capacity, it works fairly well. As a guitar interface, you'll have to fiddle a lot in ASIO to hit just the right noise to bitrate quality of the signal.
Pros: Viable solution for microphones
Cons: I'd avoid it as a guitar interface
Good Starter Interface
The UM2 is a simple but effective interface that definitely does what you need to.
I had this coupled with an AT2020 and haven't had any issues with compatibility at all over the years. The only fault I could find was that if you raised your sound output to about 75% in the sound settings of your computer, you might find some static coming through your headphones/speakers. I tested this with my microphone unplugged so it's possible that Win10 might be argumentative at times.
Even with that, I can't fault it. It does what you need as a starter for any mic that needs phantom power and simple enough even for the newest of techies.
great first interface for its price
I'm high school student. So I needed something cheap, yet good sounding. I can say that this interface will fulfil every thing starting musician need. As me, I use it with microphone(at2020) and guitar(Squier affinity Strat) and it sounds really good with them.
Overall, it's great first interface for its price!
pros:
+price
+sound
+easy to use
+no drivers needed
cons:
-build quality
-lack of inputs
-hard cable
Nice for the price
This interface costs every cent of the price. There is minor issues with drivers and latency. Materials feel kind of cheep but overall it is not that crucial for audio interface.
Simple and cheap!
Not much to say, it's a very cheap audio interface for on the road or if audio is not your main bussiness. Decent pre-amps, especially for the price. Plug and play!
Good for newbies
I bought this as my entry to the recording world, to use with a recently purchased xlr mic. And to be honest, it has done its job very well! Now, of course you only get what you pay for, but i would still argue that its a pretty good value for your money. I dont have any experience with other audio interfaces, but as a starting interface, i would totally recommend it!
Good for beginners
This little thing is really god for a beginner and has everything you need to get ready with recording. I personally use it for talking to people via apps like skype. The audio and preamp it has is really amazing for the price and with the 2 inputs for either a mic and an instrument jack or 2 instruments. It is very good for the solo musician making songs.
Downsides are that sometimes it randomly stops working and needs to be unplugged and plugged back in but other than that its flawless.
Good for guitar and bass recording
I bought this little thing to record my guitar and bass directly to my computer. And it works well.
Pros:
1. Super cheap
2. Sounds okay
3. 48 v phantom power for condenser mics
Cons:
1. This audio interface doesn't have any MIDI in/out so you can't record your electric drumkit with it
2. Its made of lightweight plastic and don't look solid
3. Even with a minimal gain knob level sound signal of my Ibanez with active EMG pickups is too high, from -2 to 0 dB and sometimes I definitely hear distortion.
Good for the Money
Unlike the amps and pa, the small Behringer stuff seems to be obviously built to a price in terms of controls, plastic casing and light weight. I would still recommend it for those on a budget as they do the job well enough.
Great budget interface
I got this as a cheap interface to put me on for a while. Once you do a little digging and install the proper behringer drivers instead of asio4all it performs admirably for the price. I have no real complaints and I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to start recording at home.
Good simple audio interface
I have been using this USB microphone interface for quite some time and it has proven to be an excellent little piece of kit. I use this for streaming and VoIP communication in-game. It is essentially plug-and-play with Windows finding and installing drivers automatically, allowing this to work out of the box with all of my broadcast software. The gain and volume adjust allow for detailed control, as well as the direct monitor functioning adequately to allow for real-time monitoring of audio input for streaming, however the audio mix leaves something to be desired as the volume of this is quite low and requires tweaking in the OS to make use of. Overall, I have found that it has exceeded my expectations
