This is a decent controller

I got this primary to control my Midas MR18 when Midas stopped upgrading the M-Air app for iPad. After some irritating mishaps I finally got it working properly with the OsiMIDIStage third-party app via OSX. I have not used it much after downloading the in my opinion even better Mixing Station app for iOS , wich I also use on several other digital desks with great success. But a great controller for studio use with the OsiMidiStage. Still in the marked for the bigger controller though.

A useful little controller

If you’re looking for a handful of relatively large encoders and buttons for midi mapping, this does the job well. Lacks the sliders of the Korg Nanokontrol but is less fiddley. Would prefer usb c but it’s not a new product so hardly a surprise.

Great for VJ-ing

Bought this for VJ-ing. No problem with mapping and using it in live performance. For the small size it has good amount of knobs and buttons.

Sturdy item seamlessly integrates into my DAW.

Love and rely on this item. It's my go-to for automation of all my VSTs, compact and within hand's reach.

Amazing

I got this to control the sound of individual apps on my PC using midimixer and it works like a charm. Instead of always fiddling through my settings or leaving a game to adjust the windows mixer volume I can slip turn a knob. This is a great tool even if you aren't using it for music!

Good controller for specific use cases

Bought two X-Touch minis cause seemed to be just what we needed so our 2 guitarists could have their own FX board in our live electronica setup.

I was looking into using the MC mode but it's not really scalable as you can only control devices of one single track in Ableton - and they also sing and play keys and need to control more than 1 track. There are some painful and bit technical ways to workaround plus you need some desktop app – only for Windows (:O). So I ended up linking all midi manually.

The device has A/B mode, so when connecting two at the same time, each of the guitarists chooses and controls their own profile with the corresponding configuration. So you can't really add a third or fourth one, but they can actually control each other's FX by switching A/B, which is quite fun :)

Build is decent and has macro controls with lights, good for dark/club environments. When not connected via MC, the led lights do not work so well but get the job done.

Overall, it worked fine for our setup and actually gave a lot of power to the guitarrists for 60€, so pretty happy with it.

Not great for me

This I purchased to use as a controller for an RME fireface. I wrongly assumed that with the software that comes with it it would be possible to control which faders ,buttons can be assigned to whatever buttons and knobs on the x-touch mini. I have spent a few hours trying to do this and looked for help online to no avail. Useless.

When switched to the Mackie protocol it works as a master fader and the other controls are no use to me.

Just to say I have other Berhinger products which are brilliant however this product has been a waste of time and money for me.

Super Little Controller

I use this X-Touch MINI in my Studio, as an extension to my main controller.

Using an USB extension cable, I have installed 2 of theses on different corners of the room, so I don't have to keep going back to the desk to Stop, Start, Record etc.

The Pots, Buttons, and single Fader can all be programmed to work within any DAW. Logic Pro uses the utility of Learn to connect devices to the software.

I personally use the assignable push-buttons for different screen views and controls like Save, and Undo, and the assignable Pots for controlling settings within Plug-ins. Compression settings, EQ settings etc. The Fader is sometimes used as a channel fader, but I find myself using it more as an Expression/Volume Fader, when I play Live-Keyboard with Strings ... adds a more atmospheric and harmonious feel to the sound.

I would recommend this product.

Oh, yes!

Very simple, very compact controller that works.

It is very versatile. With the editor software (available for Windows) you may configure it exactly, as you want.

X-Touch Mini is bigger and heavier than Korg nano, but you you have more knobs, rotary encoders instead of simple potentiometers, and the whole thing is nicely configurable.

For me - the best MIDI controller in compact form.

great midi controller

I use this controller for many things: resolume, OBS, vmix. The endless encoder knobs are great, the LED indicators work fine

Works perfectly (Adobe Lightroom)

Been using this for editing photos in Adobe Lightroom, and it works perfectly.

Good construction, solid feel of knobs and buttons.

Great for in ear monitoring

I use it to control Ableton Live sends for personal in ear monitoring and it is super useful.

Great helper in AI photo developing

I use it with Adobe ilustratr and Midi2LR software.

Great help for spreeding up the process .

Flight Sim 2020, anyone?

I bought this because someone else linked a video of it being used to control radios and throttle amongst other things in Flight Sim 2020. That was purely the intention for buying and in that regard it's perfect.

Excellent tool for photographers!

Handeling photoediting software in the way you feel it.

No need to look for the tens of sliders in small window. Motoric memory does it. Hands remember. I keep mine so, that for each finger is own encoder, and thumbs rotate them.

Processing ("developing") photographs with MIDI controller is a giant jump.

I use xtouch mini with midi2lr and adobe lightroom.

Comes with long mUSB cable. I keep controller on my lap, so hands are relaxed.

Only ONE cable, that's all you need.

X-touch mni is compact to take it with you anywhere.

as a bonus, you get universal controller for anything else.

Does what is required really well

Nice controller, Pots are a little cheap but that has to be expected at the price tag. Great way to add 48 controllers. the lack of an editor for OSX is a real pain as I had to insult VM ware to update the buttons to CC controllers

EDIT: This thing rocks, actually!

EDIT: I've had this thing sitting on my desk rent free for a good long while now and i've figured out how to 'program' this thing using remote scripting in ableton. With some effort you can make this thing do pretty much whatever you want. I've set mine to dynamically switch to midi parameters of selected devices, it can launch specific plugins, it becomes a single channel mixer, etc. It's magical.

even without that, it's great to just midi-map things and give it to a not-so-technical band member.

I was looking for something with some endless rotary knobs so that when i launch clips in ableton, the knobs jump to the position of any modulation on the clip. These are fairly hard to find or expensive. This little box is cheap and does the trick.

I've seen people use it in video's and it automagically conforms to the DAW and can control VST's. I assume it uses automap. I haven't found a way to do this yet, and that annoys me.

The setup therefore is as simple as any midi controler with knobs and no proprietary software, but it would be nice to have some software control on it.

Buildquality is what you'd expect. Plastic but durable. Knobs and buttons seem fine, but i haven't been abusing it yet.

Form factor is nice and small. could have been slightly smaller so it fits with novation's launchpads but oh well...

Very useful and convenient

I use it to have physical control over my Behringer X Air XR18. From the day I set it up I was born again ... I'm no longer tortured with mice and touchscreens.

This is an indispensable helper for musicians who use digital mixers like Behringer X-Air and not just Behringer. I wondered which controler to choose between Korg Nano Control2 and Behringer X-Touch Mini but I chose Behringer becouse of the 60mm master fader. Everything is so smoot and easy with this midi controler. I recomend it with my two hands :)

Logic Pro X & MainStage 3

The most capable mini desktop controller so far.

Using it for Logic in Mackie Control mode for track control

and MainStage in User mode to control live instruments.

Pros

LED-collar pots are not very common in backpack-sized controlles,

but does it's job well and really helpful to make small adjustments on the fly and not get lost among patches and tracks pre-sets.

Cons

The app to re-assign User A/B layes is Windows only.

While not used very often after initial setup and not a big deal,

it's still a shame for a good product with creative folks in mind.

Programming

Logic is ready to go out of the box with no adjustments at all.

While many of "full sized" Mackie Control functions can be reached in need, actually using them blindly without "big brother" LCD screen can be tricky, except you already know all of them by heart. Using basic functions such panning, muting, soloing and navigating track marks is as simple as it can be.

MainStage takes some time to assign knobs and buttons for live patches, but finally can be tailored as much as you bother to think about.

Another cool feature, controller can be switched from Mackie mode to User mode externally, which let you program assignable button to instantly activate Logic app to scroll through the track or adjust some track channel strips, and switch back to instrument controls without need to reach your computer controls!

Active knobs and buttons for MC and User modes remembered separately, so they remains as they were when switching from one mode to another and back.

Re-assignable User A/B layer controls found it's use to assign essential functions be active on both A and B layers at the same time.

All in all, this small gadget does way more then can be expected

from portable controller and quite handy for rehearsals or even live sessions whether you feel like less reverb or more modulation is appropriate.

For studio work, however, the preference is on studio sized LCD text consoles.
