Fantastic mixer for live band!

I wanted a mixer that could be used in both smaller (4 piece) and larger (7 piece) line-ups. This mixer really is fantastic value for money offering plenty of channels for instruments and microphone inputs.

The mixer itself is easy to use and navigate, as the various effects (monitor, reverb etc) all have a different colour. This makes it very easy to spot and adjust on the go.

The only thing I'm annoyed at is that it says that there are 3 monitor sends. Whilst this is technically true, only 2 of the sends can be adjusted on the mixer. A small yet important point to make.

I would recommend buying a case for any mixer, to help preserve the look and wear. Personally I bought one by 'Gator', which was the perfect size.

All in all, I would recommend this mixer to anyone looking for an affordable, great quality option. In future, I may invest in a larger model (mainly due to the monitor outputs) but I'm looking forward to many more gigs with this one.

Not a bad desk

For this price just what you need,

4 subgroups

Master output

Plenty of Aux channels

Built in Effects

Direct Outs for 8 channels - great for recording.

Comes with mounting rack bars,

Easy to install and rack

One downside is there isn't an internal way that i can see to send FX to Aux channels (For monitors) - Only way i can see is to come out of the FX output on the rear of the desk with a jack patch and return it into a channel on the desk and send this to Aux channel for the monitor mix

great piece of kit for the price - came with a UK IEC adapter for power

Bit bigger then i thought it was

but just right for the job,

its around a 10u mounting area!

Driver issues

You get a lot of inputs for your money and the digital effects are quite nice. I had no end of trouble with the device over USB though, all glitchy and stopping responding. The "ultra low latency" ASIO drivers that Behringer still advertise have been removed from the website in addition to the WDM drivers which you still need as far as I'm aware when using the asio4all which they now recommend and is the only driver download on their site. This is not acceptable. Also bear in mind you only get stereo out from the desk over USB, not separate channels, also if you are using a daw and trying to record a mixture of inputs to the desk plus output from your pc you have to make a choice between the pc output being recorded or being monitored over the monitors plugged into the desk, not both, based on whether you press a certain button or not.

I absolutely love this

I got this as part of a bundle with a Mix Case, and it's just perfect, the controls are responsive with plenty of room, the Xenyx Preamps sound fantastic and the overall sound is great.

I use this mostly with a 2 piece act, using about 8 channels, and the only reason I didn't opt for a smaller desk is the choice of outputs this has, it's definitely worth it, I'm running seperate monitor mixes as well as a reference mix through an interface to record the entire show and there's still plenty of outputs left for whatever else you want to do. It doesn't weigh much either which is a nice bonus.

Great Desk

This is a very good & useful mixing desk. You've got to be the pre-amps are not of the best quality but at the price you've got to consider them when looking for new equipment. This desk Xenyx 2442 is extremely easy to use. The effects are very good & the built in compressor is a fantastic addition. It's a good desk for a home studio especially as it has the benefit of the USB for PC connection. MY only criticism is that the inputs are divided between the to of the desk above the faders (fine) then all the other inputs, outputs & send & returns are situated at the rear of the unit. This is not ideal for mounting the unit upright. Having said that I now own two of these desks & this one replaced a similar desk bought about 12 years ago. So overall it makes pretty good value for money.

Impressed!

Quick delivery, used quick set up guide for gig straight out of the box worked a treat, this mixer good value for money . There is a lot more options on this product over our current mixer (PV10) with extra aux channels & sub groups .Just need to familiarise myself more to what it can do.

Behringer Xenyx X2442 USB

Excellent piece of equipment. Has all the features needed for a working band while light but sturdy. Matched, in our case, with a very powerful amplifier it delivers evrything expected and more. Highly recommended

Great value for money mixer

Due to its recent price drop, X2442 USB Xenyx is an excellent value for money equipment for all those semi-professional bands (up to 4-5 members) that look into small gigs (in bars or music theatres).

X2442 offers a great set of mixing and routing alternatives for small scale gigs.

No significant problem noticed with Behringer pre-amps so far, regardless what is written in online forums.

Great.

We use this desk to it's utmost limits and so far it hasn't let us down. It maybe on budget side of things price-wise but it does the job, as good as any other desk could do.

A great little desk

I bought this desk for a install rig in a room for my band to practice in. We needed a way to amplify vocals as well provide monitoring for everyone (3 people).

With this desk it was easy, it has 4 Aux outputs which we can then route to a 4 channel headphone amp, this way we run everything except drums through the desk and can provide everyone with their own monitor mix too. On top of that it also has 2 stereo headphone outs for the main mix if we needed that as well.

While we got it primarily for monitoring it would still be very good at smaller shows, with a total of 16 channels (10 XLR), built in compression, EQ and effects it can easily provide a decent mix for a low level gig.

Simply it's a great little desk packed full of features with quality you'd expect to find in higher priced desks.

Incredible value for the money, more features than you could ever need and reliable

Some people are a bit 'sniffy' about Behringer products, but if this mixer is anything to go by I can't understand their snobbery. This mixer does all I could ever want from it and the multitude of patching and monitoring options always fits the bill. The onboard reverbs are excellent too. At the price there's nothing else like it and if it ever were to break down in the future (not likely) I'd probably buy another one again, because at this price I'd be crazy not to.

Mixer for live performance and recording

The XENYX 2442FX USB mixer has 24 inputs and 4 Aux Sends for each channel. Additionally, 4 subgroups with separate outputs have been incorporated for routing flexibility.

New XENYX Mic Preamp matches the sound quality, transparency, headroom and even the dynamic range of boutique-style, stand-alone mic preamps.

Mixer incorporate a new studio-grade 24-bit FX processor. Get 100 real-world and awesome effect presets.

This mixer comes with a USB/Audio Interface for direct plug & play connectivity to Windows or Mac computer.

Our band use this Mixer to the recording and live performances.

It seems quite competent device. Time will tell durability.

about a...

So, in live concerts I found out that mic preamps are not so good it results in too less headroom. Other bad thing is fragile knobs, you can't transport it safely without a rack. In other hand, it is easy to use, recording is understandable. In conclusion, if you have this console, you have a multi purpose good for home use or band rehearsals.

Super features, half the price

I have owned 4-5 Behringer mixers over the past decade, this one seems to be one of the most serious pieces, built for both studio and live, and that's how I use it in both ways. I generally do not have troubles with the mixers, they play good. Of course if you pay 1500 euros for a mixer, you expect more, but for about 300 euros this one does a decent and full job! Loaded with features and convenient settings

My Behringer Xenyx X2442 USB review

I bought 2 of these over the last 2 years as I needed 16 direct out channels to connect to my 2 M-Audio delta 1010lt cards in my desktop pc.Using a Behringer Ultrapatch inbetween I can bring each of up to 16 tracks recorded back to the mixers for mixdown.Using them on a daily basis with decent mikes\external pre amps and processors,I have found them faultless without any unwanted noise. As a usb interface,I am not in a position to say anything,as I have said,I use internal sound cards for the higher sample rate.

Good so far, hasn't been gigged

we got this mixer for the start of our band, and we haven't gigged it yet (next weekend) but so far for practice anyway, it's done everything we've needed. can be slightly confusing at the start but starting to get used to it now. will update after gig.

Excellent mixer, Awesome value for money!

I use this mixer with a 10 piece live band, the mixer takes everything from vocals, bass, horns etc... The sound is fantastic, the built in compression is very easy to use and adds a very professional finish. The routing is fantastic with several aux sends for monitors etc. The built in effects are very good compared to other mixers. Finally the USB makes live recording and home use very affordable. Good quality. Only downside is that all 12 channels are sent as 1 channel when recording. Would have been great for each channel to be sent separately to the computer. All in all, a mixer of this size with its amazing array of features would be 10x the price from other companies. Behringer have done an amazing job to offer such good value for money to bring equipment of this scale to musicians with smaller budgets. 10/10!

Mixer Mix-Up

After coming from a Behringer Power Mixer to a Mixer plus Power Amp was a bit confusing to say the least, but after some practice with all the sockets and knobs - must say the sound quality is far superior

Super versatile

If you are buying this desk, then like me, you are on a budget and looking for flexibility and functionality. This desk is all of that. The 10mic pres give you some head room on smaller gigs and the fx and routing options are ample for what most people are going to with it.

Quality is fine and is hoping up well to regular gigs with my band and hire by others.
