beyerdynamic DT 700 PRO X Reviews
The proper stuff
Now I know why beyerdynamic have such a reputation. Sounds great, comfortable, loads of smart design, repairable, feels good in the hands, documentation that was clearly written by people who care about what they do... Couldn't ask for more.
the best beyerdynamicâs headphones
just perfect in everything
you can keep it on for hours without having problems
the sound quality is perfect and astonishing, a perfect frequency reproduction
Great headphones
I have the older model, and was pleasantly surprised by this newer more vibrant-sounding version, which I am using as day-to-day phones.
New level with phone listening
used these with phone and hand held media player
the pros:
1) sound is great with these kind of things iPhone and PC were sound card is small
2) durable the frame is metal so they should last a life time you can replace parts
3) good Cable selection
cons
1) heavy - but no problem when lying down.
You need to break it to get it good
I too was shocked with the extreme highs and wanted to return but then after i kept using it and all of a sudden it sounds so beautiful. Amazing. A real good pair of headphones. Loving it more and more now. (Break it means let it run for couple of good hours everyday for a bit)
beyerdynamic DT 700 PRO X
Purchased with long wear times and comfort in mind without spending a fortune and decent sound reproduction.
In use for 3 months now, definitely comfortable and I am very happy with overall performance, the only thing I would change is the so called mini XLR connector on the headphones/cable... sturdy but a bit too restrictive.
Excellent value for money, subjectively great design, extremely comfortable on my small-ish ears, great build quality with scratch resistant materials and best part is they are made in the EU!
Great buy!
Perfect studio headphones
Perfect for home ( iPhone , Mac ,iPad ) use or studio . Extremely great comfort and sound
Amazing!
Absolutely amazing for their price, nothing else I can say!
Amazing headphones
These headphones are amazing, the value of the headphones is one thing i cant describe. Amazing sound, they fit fantastic on my head and the quality is also amazing.
Meine klangliche Referenz waren HD 650.
Good headphones but could be better
Using these as daily driver for listening. They are quite comfortable for my average sized head after a few days of wearing them. I appreciate the removable and recyclable parts, the detachable cord, nice packaging.
However the headband is definitely the weak point, crappy material glued onto plastic with 2 mm contact area, comes of after 6 months of using. Granted its easy to replace and not impossible to glue back on, but I just hate when companies do this on 200+ eur cans.
Very pleased!
Great long term comfort. Lovely sound. They have helped to elevate my production. I don't get a chance to use my monitors much at home and had been using Apple wired earbuds and Sennheiser HD25s from my DJing, which were fine, but my word, these were much clearer. I wish I could have got the open backed version too, but my wife and kids would not have thanked me for that.
Excellent
After reading and watching reviews of quite a few headphones in this price range, I ended up choosing the Beyerdynamics DT 700 Pro X.
I am mostly using these in my home studio to avoid annoying my wife.
But the sound is excellent for mixing and for practicing guitar when everyone has gone to bed.
One of the main reasons I decided to go for these headphones is the possibility to get replacement parts, and the replacable cable.
I'll be keeping these for a loooooong time.
Lovely cans for the price
Very sturdy, premium feeling in all facets. A great set of cans for the asking price! Highly recommend.
Good but overpriced
Comparing this headphone to Philips Fidelio X2HR and Beyerdynamic DT770 PRO.
First impression is that it's a stellar craftmanship, feels high quality and is a step up from the DT770 PRO in terms of build quality.
One thing I absolutely HATED with DT770 PRO was the cord, it's stiff and non-compliant (and too long). The cord(s) coming with DT700 PRO X is much much better, it's fairly soft and very compliant, it also transfers less sound from the cord into the ear cups.
The foam in the ear pads feels more comfortable than DT770 PRO.
I've been wearing the headphones for about an hour now and they still feel comfortable on my head. I use glasses as well and it doesn't feel like the headphones are trying to crush my head.
It feels like the DT700 PRO X has a tiny bit more sound leaking out/in than the DT770 PRO's.
Now when it comes to the actual sound it's a bit of a disappointment for me. I only use headphones for the enjoyment of music and such, I've been very happy with the sound of the DT770 PRO and of course X2HR.
First impression with the sound was that it's very harsh, a lot of treble with very neutral bass. It doesn't sound at all like the DT770 PRO, not even similar. You shouldn't see this headphone as an upgrade to DT770 PRO more than it's visual appearance.
Music that I'm able to enjoy with X2HR are not enjoyable with DT700 PRO X in a lot of cases. It requires a good quality source or it will really reveal how bad the sound is from the source.
I bought these headphones in hope of an upgraded DT770 PRO-experience but it's simply not. The price is not justified if you're going to use these just for enjoying music, buy the DT770 PRO's and modify it with a detachable cable if you can.
Update after three months of daily use:
This is now my daily driver. I never use my X2HR anymore.
The headphones require some burn in for sure, in the beginning the sound was almost terrible (the treble) but now the sound profile has softened a bit and is very pleasant. Bass is spot on and not overpowering, bad quality sources are terrible to listen to with these headphones as they are very detailed. The only negatives I have to comment about these headphones now are that they become uncomfortable after several hours of use (pressure on the ears, I use glasses so I'm prone to ear fatigue when using headphones.) and the high price.
Instantly fell in love with these awesome cans.
It felt like in one instant I knew these headphones inside out. They seem so natural and honest and nothing exaggerated. They are extremely comfortable, the build quality is fantastic and they also look fantastic. Highly recommend.
Fantastic headphones for music porduction
Love these headphones! They feel fantastic on my ears and sound great! my only problems are that the wire that plugs into the left side extends out far from the headphones and hits my shoulder when I turn my head. Maybe I have a short neck idk. Secondly the wrapping on the foam part of the piece that touches the top of my head has started to peel off after about 8 or so months. Easy to buy and replace just haven't yet
Upgrade
The sound is night and day compared to DT-770, much much better, you pay more but you definitely get more.
The only problem I have is that in my case, the top of my head starts seriously hurting after an hour of wearing them. This type of pain never happened with models like DT-770, DT-990 or Audeze LCD-X.
Superb Comfort!
These headphones are very comfortable to wear! I use them for bass guitar practice and they do a great job with sound and details. Build quality is very nice and i highly recommend them.
Too much hype
The construction of this headphone is awesome but for the rest, too much hype for the price. Everybody praise the comfort, for me, not the case. After some minutes started to fill too much pressure on the headband and it weight. The sound is not flat at all. Don’t advise for mixing, despite a lot of review on the web say that would be perfect for that. It is, indeed a bit better than the dt770 but still not flat. maybe it’s okay depending on the style you are working on. But for my style (rock) isn’t suitable. Returned and ordered the old and good Sony and MDR 7506. Night and day!
