The classic!

I have several pairs of closed cans for tracking. These just work. Somehow there is less spill as well, especially when pulling one side a little off my ear while tracking vocals. It’s barely audible on the soloed vocal track. They also work well to keep click track out of overheads for drum tracking. Also,

the price is nice.

Most comfortable headphones

I own three pairs of these headphones. I got my first pair to listen to music while coding. They are so comfortable I can wear them hours on end with no discomfort. The killer feature is that they don't press against the earlobes. This lets the skin behind the earlobes breathe.

The sound is great, the sound is open and natural.

I never needed to replace the cable, but it's a really good option to have as the cable is the part most liable to damage.

There's one quality issue, that's when the headphones start emitting a soft rattle sound when reproducing low frequencies at higher volumes. It might be just because of wear, because I clocked a lot of hours in these headphones. But two of the three pairs I have, developed this problem. They're now useless for mixing and pretty much for listening to music, too. I keep them as feedback headphones for recording sessions.

Still, the comfort aspect is so important for me and so well covered by DT-150 that when one pair starts to rattle, I buy another pair.

Do What They Should - really well ...

I can wear them for hours; I prefer them over my Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro. Mixes on them translate well. I appreciate the replaceable, long and straight cable. You need these!

Best headphones I've owned.

Listen, I've had a good deal of headphones in my life. In addition to being a musician on my off time, I work at the computer for sometimes 4 or 5 hours straight. During that time, I am almost always with headphones on listening to music. I've never found headphones as comfortable as these. And I have quite a big head, mind you. Even still, I can almost forget I have them on.

Additionally, they sound amazing (which I hear is quite valued by headphone enthusiasts) and they look straight out of a Beatles studio session.

Only downside is the connector is a proprietary one, so even though the cable is detachable, it attaches to the headphone via some pins and a small screw. That can be a nuissance if, like me, you're used to forgetting you have headphones on and take off from your desk. If you do that with these, chances are you might drag the mixer along with you. And that sucks. Also, the fact they use a proprietary connector limits your choice of cables for instance. So forget about getting a telephone wire cable. You get this cable and this cable alone. Those are small downsides. These are perfect otherwise. At least for big headed giants like me that love retro-looking things.

the old treasure

The old headphone that is better than dt880, designed in a complete style, more bass, mid in the right place

The best headphones you can buy.

The Beyerdynamic DT-150 are extremely comfortable and are excellent for tracking as they have good isolation. The sound quality is amazing. The sound is natural without any hyped frequencies. The cord is of very good quality and everything is user replaceable. I have some experience with other studio headphones from top brands but nothing compares favourably with these.

Ideal for studio work.

I use this headphones for two years mainly for tracking bass and guitars. They are great for the job.

pros:

Natural sounding. Good isolation. Build like a tank!

cons:

Not very comfortable for a long runs. A little bit on the heavy side.

Great for both recording and cassual music listening

The headphones emit a very detailed sound. I upgraded from a pair of 70 euro studio headphones and it was definitely worth the price.

The sound was really surprising. Bought for tracking and wasn't expecting such a great music listening experience. The bass sounds defined with headroom to spare. Mids and highs are super clear. Great headphones!

DTs are always great

All of the DT range are great and have been industry standard for many years. These offer everything you'd expect from BD.

I 'd wear it all day. No problemo.

Good, detailed sound, not bass heavy, no pressure on my head.

When listening to higher volumes, the sound doesn't distort or become harsh. I use it to play guitar through a Yamaha THR10, listen to PC audio, watch movies, and even mix in my DAW. You will need an extra push from your headphone amp because it's 250 ohms, but it delivers enough volume to smash your ear drums. Even when you use it with your phone.

Good Studio Headphones

Despite the rectangular shape, on the head sit very comfortably, the sound is excellent, detailed.

Very good closed headphones

Noise isolation is very good, though to me the seal was not tight enough, construction is solid though, so you only need to bend the band a bit to whatever you'd like.

After a bit of eq they sound more balanced than the 770.

Out of the box they are perfect for any <1990s genres when noise isolation is required.

They come in a no-nonsense cardboard box, a small testament to their status as a professional classic.

Best in price range

Very clear and brutally honest sound. The bass is there too but doesn't overwhelm the rest of the spectrum. Very interesting to work with and highly recommended for anyone seeking a new experience.

Perfect!

Normally it is expected that the more expensive headphones also correspond to a higher overall quality of the product and although this is often the case, this DT150 headphones are the demonstration that, sometimes, the most expensive instruments not always correspond to the most useful tool for our purpose. I tried several studio headphones but these DT150, are really great for monitoring the recording signal. What you hear from the headphones is coherent with the audio signal that you get from the reference monitors and in my opinion this is the optimal function of a studio headset, amateur and professional.

Studio standard

I use these headphones in a recording studio while tracking.

They are comfortabe to use and sound good. They look good and are built to last. The sound is neutral and well balanced.

I don't use them for mixing but occasionally check mixes on them for reference.

I have not had any problem with them.

Highly recommended!

To compare with DT 990 (super lightweight and super for home listening) my DT150 are more flat response, but with fullest natural bass ambient.

I use it for live stage monitor (better isolate), so You can mix Your recordings much more real.

The high is not exaggerate, so it sound guys can work with them

Great audio quality and durability, easy to repair/replace parts too

These are great quality studio headphones. We've used them for hundreds of recording sessions over the years and every time we've needed to add more sets of headphones (we recently installed the Hearback personal monitoring system for example) we've bought another set of these.

They hold up very well to the abuse given to them and best of all, when they do fail, they're so easy to work on. They've clearly been designed with that in mind as getting in to re-solder connections that have been damaged or replace leads that get yanked out is a breeze.

I'm not going to get into whether they're the best audio quality in the price point because I'm, honestly not sure and their are lots of other headphones we could try in our studio... but these work really well and have continued to do so for many years.. and as far as I'm aware we've never had any complaints from our customers who use them

Excellent

Excellent headphones. Fairly natural, and a somewhat smooth sound.

Very solid construction, and spare parts are available.

The fit on these is a bit unusual, but they are quite comfortable once you get used to them.

Good isolation as well.

Great headphones for tracking.

A Classic!

These cans from Beyerdynamic are a studio mainstay and rightly so.

The isolation is great without the cans sitting too tightly which is always welcome. They excel at tracking and when listening to music in noisy environments.

Pros:

They are fun and engaging! Often when mixing, mastering and working on music with reference monitors or headphones you get used to the cold, sterile flat response often required for this kind of work.

These are a different breed all together. The bass is full, lush and warm with plenty of lower midrange push which makes the music sound fun and engaging. Just really pleasing. If you are tracking a band these will put smiles on the musicians faces as they can help getting the right vibe out of the performance.

They are built like a tank! No matter how rowdy stuff gets these should survive it. Built quality and parts quality is excellent and every part is replaceable by the user, nothing more than a screwdriver needed. They are made to be user maintainable which means that anyone can fix them with spare parts. No need for a technician to do so. If you buy these in bulk just snag some spare cords and pads while making the purchase and you should be set for life. The DT-100 velour pads can also be made to fit these if you don`t like the pvc altho doing this will reduce the isolation and bass response slightly.

Cons:

They can be too bassy for correct mixing unless you know them really well and can compensate while working.

In any case it`s hardly a con as they aren`t made for mixing and a final mix should always be done with monitors for correct stereo imaging.

For mixing I can recommend the AKG K701`s. They have a huge soundstage and a very flat response. Do not expect to get a real kick out of rock`n roll or EDM with the AKG`s tho.

All in all a highly recommended "studio secret" more people should try out.
