You can't go wrong with this pedal. It's durable, looks and sounds amazing. If you want a nirvana tone, get this because it's the same distortion pedal that Kurt Cobain used. Pretty sure Rivers Cuomo used it too!

It’s a DS-1

Everyone knows about the DS-1 it’s a great pedal especially at its price point. Extremely durable as with all Boss pedals. Sounds great when at home practising. the tone control is extremely good and can really shape the sound well. Only problem I have ran into is when playing with my band in rehearsals I can turn this on and disappear in the mix even with the volume maxed out. This could however just be a case of using to much distortion and not enough tone. You will almost certainly set it differently at home than you would playing with a band. All in all it’s a great pedal

The O.G. distortion

I was heavily into Nirvana in the 90s, and this nails the sound heard on their albums.

The tone control boosts bass and cuts treble when turned to the left, and the opposite when turned to the right. People hate how thin it can make the sound, but that kinda misses the point a bit. By losing some of the bass, it allows the guitar to sit better in its place in the mix so the bass can occupy the lower frequencies in the live mix. For certain music styles this works very well indeed. Sounds killer played live when set up with this in mind. The audience will probably recognise it as well!

incredible pedal,

It does what I asked for. You may have to puzzle a bit with the settings. But when you find the sound you are looking for. It does an incredible job. All this for a small price. I really recommend this pedal if you are looking for a good distortion. With or without a small budget.

Lives on my kick drum!

Sounds great on synths but my original ended up on the kick drum output of my LXR drum machine and has never been plugged out! So I had to buy another for general use. Love it.

pretty good starter pedal

does exactly what it says, my only complaint is that it could have a bit more variety? but it's acceptable given the price.

Not for me.

Bought this pedal just to check out a classic. I did not like the sound of it, way to harsh for my taste.

It's not a bad pedal, I just didn't like it.
