Best EQ pedal ever

As the title of this review suggests I am very satisfied with this pedal and believe it to be the best EQ pedal for guitar and bass. It allows you to control all of the important frequency bands that you need in order to dial in the perfect tones.

Joker in the back pocket

A very versatile helper to keep in the pedal chain. Lets you get away with using unfamiliar gear at gigs or rehearsal rooms by boosting your overall signal in the desired direction. Or when everything's right without it, you can experiment with dialing in different sounds or simply use it as a boost pedal.

Warning - you might start liking your other pedals more by adding this in the mix.

The build and sound quality is top-notch. The sliders are quite sensitive though, and it can be a bit tricky to get the sound just right at first, but when you do, it really delivers.

Get it, use it, create your sound.

Better sound

I´ve used my my Boss Ge 131 (31 band rack model) for years. But let´s be honest, this 7 band will do the trick just fine. Every guitar and bass player should have this on the pedal board. It just makes your sound so much better. Simplest effect there is.

Does what it says

Great pedal. I use it as a booster by the method that you decrease the sound while playing main parts and then turn it off for solos. works perfectly for that.

You can create your own tone. Very nice

Great and compact equalizer.

Simple pedal that delivers a lot

I think the EQ pedal is the unsung hero of the pedal world and should be a feature on the pedal board of every guitarist.

The Boss GE-7 is a simple and affordable pedal that enables you to tweak your tone. Push the mids and your leads will cut through. Beautiful

One thing to note is that it can be a little noisy, so a gate is recommended.

Does what it suppose to do

This pedal just does what you need from it. Good logical bands, overall gain correction, no impact to the sound quality.

Nice to use in any place of your sound chain. Can be used as booster when standing before OD/distortion.

It Does What It Says

This pedal is really simple...it does what it says. It boosts, cuts frequencies and does it pretty doggoned well. I mean, what else can you ask of a pedal? I've been using it and it is just plain functional, built like a tank and it does what it is supposed to do and does it excellently. I say, all good and if you need what it does - buy it. It has no problems, no glitches or bugs. It just works.

Boss Do It Again

We all know Boss has a good name, but the GE-7, is not just for us bedroom players, this unit is rugged and is used also by many professional musicians.

Superb pedal, glad I added it to my Boss collection.

My best pedal!

I play through a Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier and I love its tone as it is, so I don't really need an EQ. I also have a Maxon 808OD that I boost the amp with, soooo what do I use this pedal for, you might be thinking...? Well... CHIPMUNK GUITAR EFFECT xD

Alright, all jokes aside, I also use it at home practice where I can't crank my 100 watts to its sweet spot/tone or else the walls start shaking and I get deaf. So I use a power attenuator to cut the amp's output power but maintaining its tonal quality, and then I boost the upper mids on this pedal and cut a little on the lows and that's it. I get my full-cranked-rehearsal-live guitar tone at home, at very low volume levels.

More useful than you might imagine

Boss are the boss.

Not only 7 bands of eq but a level control too. Very useful if the output of your guitar is too loud or soft.

Most powerful pedal for tone colors

I think this pedal will be my most important pedal, connected to send return, i can make a tone i have always wanted.

Rock solid Boss quality

Like any Boss pedal also this one is rock solid and build to last forever. The EQ clearly affects the sound like it should. Plus the extra power output makes this pedal all worth it.

Great pedal to shape your sound!

This pedal opens a lot of possibilities and is a lot of fun if you're on the more experimental side. Depending on where you put it in your chain it can really create some unexpected tones! I keep mine at the end of the chain to control my final signal but if I could I would have a second one to put somewhere in the middle of the chain. It's easy to use, durable and makes a real difference when used properly.

The only downside that I found is that the slides are very volume sensitive so sometimes I got caught a little off-guard when turning it on after setting up because it would be a lot louder than I expected, but it's something you get used to!

I you don't have it get it.

Every guitar rig should have one, at least some EQ pedal, and if you want one, BOSS is just one of the best. It is very transparent and easy to use. If you like "simple" overdrives it is a must, heck, get two and the other one can be used to match almost any amp to your ears, well at least make it passable.

Just get one :D

Chameleon pedal

I first got this pedal to put in the effects loop of an amp that had a sensetive master control to tame the volume to not get evicted.

Also great to re-shape the EQ to make an amp sound good at lower volumes.

When used infront of the amp can act as a clean boost or even a pseudo drive pedal when boosting certain frequencies.

You just can not go wrong with this EQ pedal great allrounder.

Great Pedal Universally Used

Many boards have this pedal and there is a reason for that, it’s compact, sounds great and can be used as a boost to push valve amps to their sweet spot as well as shaping the tone. I am a guitar player and I had one of these 20 years ago when I was gigging in lots of different rooms so this pedal is great for adjusting your tone depending on the acoustics of the gig. Also great for solo boosts and pushing the frequencies to get you heard without deafening your band members! A must have in my view and it’s great value!

The only real negative is that it can be a little noisy in some rooms

A really powerful tool

I started using it when I realised that the beautiful tones I got from my guitars, amps and pedals at home had a tendency to get drowned when playing with my band.

I chose this equalizer after reading opinions on forums. I was looking for a affordable, simple yet effective equalizer, with a good build quality.

The GE-7 proved really effective at the task. Basically I use it only to make my tone sit nicely in the mix on rehearsals or gigs. I don't use it at home, because what I'm trying to do is to sound as good as home in a band context. I don't use it to create special sounds or to make my amp sound like another one, though it can certainly do that.

I would strongly recommend this unit to any guitarist playing in a band, especially if there are other midrange focused instruments. What works for me is : cut off 100HZ, slightly cut 200HZ, slightly boost 400HZ, slightly cut 800HZ, slightly boost 1KHZ, 3.2KHZ at unity or slightly below, 6,4HZ is basically the presence, so I adjust it depending on the amp and the context.

Building quality is what you expect from Boss.

Worth mentionning I didn't notice any coloration from the buffered bypass when the pedal is off.
