Best at this price range

For this price it is hard to get anything better sounding and these pedals really add up to this product. Bought this for my second travel amp, it is small and easy to transport. Well mode product, almost sounds good as katana 100 and 100/212. Few thing i don't like compared to my other katana (artist mk2) is how to change the channels on this one, it should have same system. Features are quite good also, but lot of things missing what other katanas have. Software works very well and is easy to use.

About sound, i feel it lacks of power for bigger rooms or even small stages, i put this against wall and it started to sound much better.

Beware, this amp could sound bad if you put it in the middle of the big room with bad acoustics.

What it is good for?

1. It is good travel amp, it is really small and lightweight.

2. Good bedroom amp, enough power for 20m3 room.

3. Good amp for beginners, quite simple and easy to use.

4. Good for metal, i think metal sounds better on this than other katanas.

Great value for money

For this price you’re not gonna get a better amp in my opinion, the controls take time to get used to but it’s an amazing amp for home use and last but not least I can play it so quietly that my kid doesn’t wake up in the next room when I plug my guitar into it and play

Amazing

I've had many amps to my. Collection mainly fender and one marshall. all were just. Little too big for my room . You can lower the output to smaller watts which is perfect for toning down the volume . Endless pre sets online easy to download. Amazing amp

Crazy

At this price, with the accompanying software (and MIDI control from a DAW for example!!) there can't possibly be complaints.

The sound is fantastic for a small gig or practice rig, super light-weight, PLENTY loud, an insane amount of pedals and effects, it has a built-in interface with which you can record straight into your DAW...

My only complaint is that the noise gate is actually a noise suppressor (and sadly not a very good one, especially for metal) and degrades the open state of this "gate" in an attempt to supress noise. However, I couldn't possibly hold it against it for all the other fun stuff that this comes with and this price.

Very good amp with many tones

It is a very good amp with many different tones and it get as loud as you could ever need. The only gripes I have with this is that it doesn't have all 4 channels like the 100 does and that it doesn't support the ga-fc foot switch but that is about it. You can optionally buy an after market foot switch like the Boss fs-6 to switch between channels though.

As good as a valve amp

Great multi-purpose amp for all kinds of styles. Responds to the volume controls on itself and the guitar much like a valve amp would. To get the most out of it, you really need to connect a computer via USB (use a printer cable), because only with the tone studio software can you access all of the many effects and such, as well as fine-tune them. That said, without a computer, this is still a fantastic amp for any player at any level.

Excellent beginner amp

Been using it for a year now as a beginner guitarist and i cannot express how very pleased i am with my Katana enough!

Has a great sound, lots of patches if you Connect it with the internet, you can record your playing, the tone studio offers A LOT of different options regarding tone settings, looks very nice and the build quality is awesome.

The only turn off would be the knobs on top that get dust on if you don't cover them when you're not using it.

Any beginner would be totally pleased with it!

Great amp

Wonderful amp. Just wish it had an effects loop.

So far I'm satisfied, but not used in anger yet.

I bought this Boss amp rather than the Vox Cambridge 50 as it appeared more established having plenty of reviews. I'm happy with my purchase so far but feel I'm missing out on the name brand. More experimentation required.

Excellent amplifier!!!

This amplifier made my guitar learning experience much better, because with all the tone options I can play any kind of musical genre with it, from heavy metal to R&B and with the software the tone options are endless. I don't have any negative aspects about the amplifier

Decent

Not sure why people were raving about this amp. Headphone output is trash. Sounds decent through speakers though. I am sure once you learn to fiddle with the settings, you will get great tone. But for a beginner like me, sound is average.

A great practice amp with plenty of features

In terms of sound I'm really happy. The 5 pre defined sounds all sound very good, and add to that the variations, it really is a versatile amp. I would have no issues dialing in settings in a pinch if I had forgot my effects pedal.

Add to the mix, Tone Studio and the ability to experiment and change settings from a PC or Laptop it really makes for a great value, great sounding amp.

Just a great amp, especially at the price!

I gig every other weekend, and I use the amp on its clean channel, with outboard effects. I wanted a great clean tone, light and compact combo, and this really does deliver on all counts. I play in a classic rock (Pink Floyd, Clapton, Free, etc) band, and we are quite loud, but this amp keeps up with everything, and we have played some quite big halls, and outside gigs, too! I use the clean channel exclusively, and usually only the 25w setting. For the pubs I play, this is plenty loud enough. I cannot recommend this amp highly enough, especially for the money. And no, it isn't as good as a great valve Fender for cleans and reverb, but neither is it as heavy, delicate, or expensive! If it has a downside, it is that you cannot switch the FX in and out individually (ie, delay, chorus, etc) but if it did that, Boss would never sell another pedal again! My son also plays in a band (punk, ska, new wave) and he bought the 100w version, The bigger can does make a (marginal) difference, as does the extra power, but for me, I don't need that. Buy one - your only regret is that you didn't buy one earlier!

Good amp

Overall pretty good amplifier. I use it in my bedroom so I keep it at the 0.5w power setting all the time, and the power knob in the middle. It can get really loud. Lots of effects out of the box and even more if you use the software. Distortions are generally good but I find myself using the booster knob quite often in order to get a heavier sound. The guitar I've tried with this amp is prs s2 custom 24.
