Boss TU-3 5-stars Reviews
The standard tuning pedal, I have always wanted to get one of these but been put off in paying this much for a tuner.
However you get what you pay for. The screen is bright and easy to read. The tracking is very precise, the pedal is well made and comes with plenty of features including the ability to daisy chain power and to send signal back out of the pedal via a bypass or a output that mutes when the tuner is being used.
Very important addition to any pedal board!
A quality on stage tuner
This tuner is as good as it gets, it is very easy to use and the display is very nice indeed, it is also quick to get each string in tune
Big tuner
The most important tool for a guitar player is always his tuner. You can be a guitar master, but if your guitar is really out of tune, you won't get good results.
This Tuner is so accurate and perfect on stages. I use it for my acoustic guitar and base guitar, both works fine.
No mattert which light environment you got, you'll see the lights going.
A really good feature is the mute, when it's on, so you can tune silently or even switch guitars without those noises.
Switching batteries doesn't take long and a power supply works fine too.
With its DC out it is also a good starting point for daisy chains.
Great accuracy and visibility, with an excellent built in buffer
I have a pair of these tuners and they replaced the previous TU-2 versions I had as well as a Korg rackmount tuner. The accuracy has much improved and I can therefore use these for intonating my guitars/basses as well as general tuning duties. They have a great, clean buffer which means I can use them in front of my true bypass pedals with no loss of tone. The option of having the tuner active all the time, or only when silent is very convenient for me, as I sometimes like to see if my instrument is going out of tune whilst playing it (for example when playing fretless bass). The two outputs also mean you can use this pedal to split your signal simultaneously into two separate outputs, and being buffered, are truly independent to each other.
In tune - whatever tuning you like
On stage your biggest problem is to stay in tune - always and in every situation. In order to accomplish that you need to have a tuner, that works quick, precisely and accurately.
The Boss TU-3 does that perfectly. The LEDs are bright enough to be seen on every stage, no matter what lights you have on stage. If you still have problems, you could use the "high brightness mode".
The best features are the different tuning modes: Standard chromatic, automatic string detection for guutar and bass, flat tunings and many more. The true bypass works very good, but: if you want to mute your guitar while tuning, you can't use the true bypass output and vice versa. The problem ist: The mute output really affects the tone when you don't use the tuner - it kind of steals highs and dynamic. Because of that I decided to use the true bypass and leave the tuner turned on during the whole gig.
Quality and handling is classic Boss-like. Perfectly crafted and a real work horse on stage: You could drop this thing down from the 10th floor and it would survive :-)
Boss TU-3
Hmmm what can i say? I used this in my every Gig. i have no worry anymore being out of tune.. this must have every musician out there Professional or Amateur..
very Accurate for Bass Guitar and Lead Guitar. also in Acoustic. 5 Stars !!
Another Winner From Boss
The TU-3 is a high quality tuner which is extremely easy to use. It has the ability to tune by string number, drop tune and fine-tune a pitch as does the TU-2. These functions are fairly basic to use.
It picks up notes promptly without any lag. There are more LEDs than the TU-2 making it visually more easy to read. There is also a high brightness mode which I haven't really had to use yet, though if playing outside it may be useful.
One of the handiest new features visually shows you when you have sat on the correct pitch for a period of time and the string is "in tune". All in all another brilliant pedal from Boss.
Boss TU-3
Strong, Durable, very easy to use. Designed to do exactly what you want it to do, to tune your guitar or bass. Many functions on it that you probably won't use but IMHO it's one of the best tuners available to buy
Solid tuner
This is essentially the industry standard tuner. Its easy to use and works of a 9v power source or battery power.
The display is bright, but not overbearing and works well in low and high light settings. I find some tuners are too bright and can be annoying in a live setting, however this tuner is the perfect balance of brightness, while not distracting.
The tuner is accurate to the very smallest detail and it provides a variety of different tunings.
This pedal almost seems indestructible. I've thrown it around, dropped it, stomped it, so many times and it still shows no signs of ageing.
Solid pedal, I would highly recommended it as it offers value for money, ease of use and longevity.
Tu3 - Industry Standard Tuner
What can I say, this is a tuner designed to tune your guitar.
It is also perhaps the most fundamentally essential piece of kit that any guitarist should own. It is built very solidly and offers cents resolution for getting that precise tuning for your guitar and bass guitar. Accepts 9v and power supply (sold separately) which for its price is a little disappointing.
Not many people know this, but you can use these tuners as DI pedals as well, as the input impedance is set to 2M ohms which is the same as most instrument DI and Hi-Z inputs. Ive used this once or twice when I was short a DI on stage and it did the trick.
Conclusion:
This is perhaps still a little pricey when it comes to tuners. There are other cheaper alternatives out there that all tune a guitar. However, this is the best built (IMHO) and allows for the most accuracy and speed of tuning. There is a reason why the Boss TU line of tuners are so ubiquitous and considered the "industry standard". After using one for months you will understand why. Highly recommended.
Very good, very expensive :(
This is very good. There is a very good reason why it seems to be industry standard. But it's over priced. The Korg Pitchblack (standard model) is equally good (although I actually prefer it) but almost half the price.
This is very good but it's not the tuner I'd recommend...
Does the job PERFECTLY
If you are looking for a chromatic tuner pedal then this is the one for you. It has never let me down and is very sturdy. It is a most need for me and is great as it cuts off the sound from your amp when you are tuning so if you need silence when playing just press the pedal and it will do the job. Great pedal and i highly recommend it to everyone.
No complaints!
Rock solid tuner here. Bright on stage and has many options (the most of which you will never use).
Basically it cuts your signal off (really nice between songs on stage, obviously) and I use it often simply for that function. Also, the darn thing is a tuner, and dead on in that regard.
PERFECT!
I've used this for both the bass and guitar in live settings and it's done everything I could want it to do. If you take the time to learn how to switch the modes, there are no issues at all. I love the mute/gate when it is engaged as I do some bass playing for religious services and it is a great to be able to tune/adjust quickly on the fly. The LED lights are nice and bright and visible when the stage lighting is bright. Additionally, I've found the accuracy of the tuning to be spot on. I cant fault this pedal at all.
Boss TU-3
Top quality piece of equipment. Much more effective than the clip-on or hand-held devices which I have previously relied upon.
Good interface with PA when switching guitars.
every guitar player needs his tuner
superb tuner the professionals favourite
Boss TU-3
Excellent tuner... what more can I say!
Keeping Us all in TUNE!
This little unit is a faithful friend. When you need to tune up fast and accuratley the TU-3 really comes into play! Helping you with its bright LED display and then the lights 'CLAP' when your on the money, its bailed me out more than once. stomp on it once and it springs into life, killing your signal to the front of house desk, allowing you to get that sneaky tune up while the next track intro is playing. It also allows you to connect and disconnect from the system without the usual 'bang' or waiting to get the sound engineers attention. Smooth and a must for any serious guitarist!
