Celestion G12H-75 Creamback 8 Ohm

I'd been looking for some new speakers for my 2x12 cab I use with my Marshal JCM TSL 100. I use only the clean channel on the amp, and drive it to the point where, with my strat, it starts to break up. I find these speakers quite heavy. Which is a problem, if you're going to have to carry them every night. But the sound that comes out of them, makes anything else not a problem for me. It's very mid-rangy, with a good amount of low mids, making the sound warm, but without losing the clarity of every note. (Everything I just said is heavily influenced by the amp) So I find that the tone of the speakers with the right amp settings is just heavenly, if you're into a warmer (sort bluesy) tone. Also, they can be SO loud, even with a smaller wattage amp (tried a Dual Terror on 15w only, and...
Celestion Alnico Gold 12" 8 Ohm
Based on 10 reviews
I play mostly at bedroom volumes and I really love chime in my clean sounds. I currently have a 4x12 set up made up of various speakers (I'm a bit of a speaker freak, it turns out. I think that what the sound comes out of happens to be tied at number one with where the sound 'goes in' , the pickups, in terms of tone-importance). The Gold sits beautifully in with the other 3 drivers; contributing but not dominating. However, If I needed to pick just one to do a gig, it would be the Gold. It can give you great cleans and snarling overdrive. It's a fabulous all-rounder which makes me believe that, though it is expensive, it is a good investment.

Starting at the end, I really love this speaker. I'm a big fan of Celestion V30s, and tried to find a cheaper alternative for a 2x12" project. Searched in different forums, I found several different reviews, and at the end I asked myself: hey, this is quite cheap, you don't lose too much if you try it. So I bought it. If I want to compare to V30, these are my findings: - they are compatible in size and screw locations - it has approx the same tight lows - almost the same mids, by comparison I can state that the mids are not so aggressive, like the V30 has, a bit creamier, but they are cutting through - more pleasant highs Overall a bit creamier, almost the same character, and a bit more 3D sounding. I suggest to everyone!
Jensen 12" Blackbird 100 8 Ohms

New Jensen P12/100 Black Bird Alnico speaker, out of the box! Already such dynamics and clarity! I really dislike playing dry and always have Delay or at least Reverb on but with this speaker I simply have no desire to play wet! It just has such richness ... such 3D sound, not sure how to describe it but you really REALLY feel the relation between the fingers, frets and strings, so much detail. This speaker is for those who want ALL details of their playing to come through! I mean really, why didnt anyone tell me before abou this speaker! My search for speakers is over! I have found my tone, the Jensen Black Bird!!! Just get one! If this speaker sounds this good the very first day, out of the box, then how good will it sound after a month or two of daily playing :D oh man, Im in tone...
Eminence Lil Texas 8 Ohm
Based on 5 reviews
The stock alnico P12Q in my tweed Fender 5E3 '57 Deluxe Reissue was great but didn't cope well with volume and farted out...distorted...when pushed. Tried about 5 different ceramic speakers...all louder and punchier but they lacked the complex response and character of the alnico P12Q. Got this Lil Texas and it's the one for me. Loud, punchy and tight...but with the delicate and balanced musicality of an alnico speaker. I've got 'my amp' back...with much more clean headroom and volume. The amp is a few pounds lighter now as well. Excellent speaker.

For years I use to play with a Marshall cabinet with 2 G12T-75. I spend loads of money on pedals and pickups and while I still enjoy each of those purchases the biggest impact has been this speaker. The clean sound is so much better, smooth is the best word to use. Also with overdrive the speaker is so much well defined. There is more clarity compared to the G12 and I am cutting better through the mix. Our usual sound engineer loves this speaker. Without me telling I bought this he straight away asked how did I improve my sound so much. I got a small open cabinet that suits this speaker just fine. Have not tried this with a closed back. At first the speaker was a bit bright but after adjusting my setup things improved for the better. Compared to other speakers I tried the gold makes them...
Eminence Delta Pro-12A

Last gig we blew the 12" speaker of one of our 90's Peavey Impulse cabinet. A replacement basket for the 1268 type black widow costs more than a brand new Eminence Delta Pro 12 that's also made in USA and has slightly better specifications that the Peavey black widow. Even though I'm a great Peavey fan (not the cheap stuff from the UK but the topline from US) and the black widow speakers have a great donkey proof "recone it yourself" feature, I felt reluctant to pay more for a basket (frame + cone + coil) than a whole new speaker with better specs. I also found the 1268 type black widow is sold in US for about $150 new. So... I ordered the Eminence Delta Pro 12 and I'm very, very happy I did. The Eminence is an excellent speaker that has a little more lows than the...

The elephant in the room is the weight - yes, it's absurdly light. For a 1x12", that makes for a really portable cab. I can only imagine the day-n-night difference in a 4x12". That being said, the sound it produces is... picky. It's generally rather bright and open sounding, but might lack downright punch and power in some contexts. I ended up keeping it, and buying a V30s-loaded 2x12, which has absolutely incomparable bass output at LOWER volumes than that. I would say that it's a great speaker on its own, but you need to be careful and informed about the sound characteristics. If you're unsure about what speaker to buy (especially for a 1x12" or 2x12"), a regular greenback or V30 might be a much safer bet, which would also be easier to trade for something else...
Eminence Basslite S2012
Based on 4 reviews
I mounted the speaker in a sealed cabinet (the small sealed bass option design on the data sheet from eminence) built with 12mm ply and two sheets of visaton damping stuff. Driven by a TC electronic 250 Head. Speaker is remarkably light and a superb performer and plenty of volume. high clarity with flat amp settings and a jazz bass with round wounds. the bottom end can be easily boosted with the amp if required. Easy to carry in one hand with bass on my back and a small gig bag in the other Will build another identical cab now and drive the two from the 250 Head which should handle the two S2012s in these rigs.
Eminence Legend 1218

The eminence Legend are nice speaker. They deliver a mid range sound. in comparison with stock speakers from a famous british company ;) they have less of treble but for banging some solo riffs with an es guitar or a les paul the are quite good. The speakers are easy install, the contacts for the cables are good in reach. I use this speakers in my 4x12 cabinet and due to the lack treble and the mid range sounding this cabinet is great to use for old school rock. The speakers are loud and using them with a british sounding amp you will have fun in playing some rockn roll!
