Bright flatwounds
I tried these flatwounds because I heard so many people rave about them.
They definitely look like high quality strings, but I didn't like the brightness of sound compared to La Bella 760s and they didn't feel as silky smooth like the La Bellas either.
If you are used to roundwounds and would like to switch to flats without losing too much brightness, this might be the string for you.
WHERE the best strings
I've been using them for a long time, but in a last 2 packages there was problems: 1) A string had a strange vibration and it was buzzing at 8th fret. 2) Brand new package E string was damaged near 3rd fret and after 4th fret until the last fret is a disonance in tone. Now I switched to DaDario semi-flats which are the best strings I've ever used. Same feel as these flatwounds but not that muddy.
Not suited for Mustang Bass
This strings are too short for a Mustang bass (chords through body Bass). Buy Medium strings (M) instead.
Best flats around IMO
My goto brand for flats. Love the feel, sound and quality of the Chromes. I use these on my short and full scales. Flats for life :)
Great sound
Great sound for short scale basses. I use a single p-pickup mustang and it's a perfect match. Cannot recommend enough!
Smoothie
Great flat wounds for my fender short scale. Brighter than other flats which is what I was looking for.
Daddario Quality
I used these on my Hofner Ignition Bass.
They are warm sounding and have that great flatwound feel.
My one complaint would be the price but all flatwound bass strings are expensive, these are at the higher end of the price scale.
Daddario are always excellent quality so you can rely on them for all your string needs.
Excellent
Superb sounding and feeling strings!
My favourite strings
I've been through many string sets for short scale basses and these just feel great and sound great. Make no mistake, they are quite dark sounding strings but for my needs (RnB style playing with a thumb or jazz walking bass style with two fingers) that's just perfect. Expensive? Yes, but they'll last a very long time.
Smooth warm sound!
Bought these strings for my Jaguar shortscale bass and had it for some time now. I love the deep and warm sound of these strings, they are smooth to touch although they feel kind of sticky (they are not as smooth as I expected) but it causes no problems. They cut through the mix well and are perfect for someone looking for a deep vintage sound.
