Nice strings and less finger noise
The tone I get with these strings is great: they are mellow, but I also feel like the bass of my guitar is less muddy. While these strings fit my musical taste (jazz), I bought them primarily because they are flat wounded and so the noise of the fingers on the strings are much less noticeable.
The best for playing reggae!
I've been searching for the perfect strings to get that sharp rich tone found in reggae and these are the strings you need to get that sound.
If you play reggae, get these!
This is exactly what I needed
I own a Epiphone Broadway archtop guitar. These are the strings I have always wanted but never knew they existed. I am very happy with them.
Great set of strings
Great set of strings for jazz guitar
I like the strings but as expected with flat-wounds the sound suffers.
New sound for my acoustic
Yep, I got these and slapped them on my acoustic guitar and it sounds brilliant! The flatwounds have a very nice feel, they lack that scratch as you move along the fretboard and I very much enjoy the change in sound character. Very happy, and it seems I'm not going back to the old bronzey ways :D
Move these Strings
What can I say. You either love them or not. Smooth on your fingers, quality product, and sound warm and rich. I'm happy even if a bit more expensive than some. Worth it to me. Just wish I could them as singles on line
my choice for jazz tone
Normally I use 0.12, but when this are to heavy, my old Gibson ES125 for example, with a delicate neck, I use 0.11 without compromising the sound. Good durability and price
jazz guitar strings
Good jazz guitar strings!
Very good
Very good strings for jazz guitar's. I like them more than TI's that I had before. Sound a little bit darker and the tension fits me nicer
really nice jazz strings
I really liked this strings for jazz playing . I think they sound better than the 012 set .
Smooth tones
Pros:
- does what it says on the tin: smooth jazzy tones for days
- love the smooth feel of chrome
- hardly any string noise at all
- can't tune higher than D Standard without exerting too much tension on a neck
- absolutely essential to balancing out a bright instrument
Cons:
- almost unbearable tension; they are 11s but they feel like 13s
If you're like me and you've got a really bright guitar or if you really want smooth warm tones, these strings are amazing. Highly recommended.
excellent
I have just started playing jazz guitar, I am a big fan of daddario strings so I got a set of there flat wounds, they are so smooth and easy on the fingers to use and they made my arch top sound amazing, for price and quality they are the best.
First time with flat-wound strings
As this is the first time I play with such flat-wound strings, this evaluation may be biased. Manufacturing quality is very good, the comfort of play is good but somewhat baffling as I am used with round-wound strings.
The sound is very good and clean, but quieter compared to D'Addario EXL140 (both mounted on Ibanez full hollow guitars).
Hello.
I've been a long time user of the D'addario Chromes strings, and absolutely love them. Being smooth, you can play for longer periods of times without tearing your fingers to shreds, which is a big point for me, because its never fun playing so much that you've wore through the callus.
One thing I do have to note, is in my experience, when new, these strings really need to be stretched or they will go out of tune much faster. Thats really no big deal though, and all new strings should be stretched anyway.
I've also noticed that they tend to last longer without breaking or just going dead than most other strings I've used in the past, another plus.
These are good sounding, easy playing, long lasting strings and I highly recommend them.
Cheers!
Perfect for jazz
Nice touch, my first flatwounded set of strings and very happy with the sound and feel, they are quite thick although it says light, not too bendy, but still great, you are not supposed to bend too much with them anyway, the 3rd is also wounded.
I had a problem and dented the 6th while winding it... it broke :-( there is their weak point, I haven't been playing around with them too much, but seems they won't be very durable if you use a lot of aggressive bending and playing or if your frets aren't properly set and polished, as I said, perfect for jazz style.
