More like a Nickel Wound with no friction
I used to set my electrics with Nickel Wound and my Archtop with Chromes. I remain with just a Gibson ES for everything, so I thought of trying these Half Rounds as middle ground for my middle ground ES.
Regarding the sound, I feel they are closer to Nickel Wound. Regarding the feel, there is no friction.
My favourite strings
These are my favs e-strings. Light, flexible, nice tone. I quit the nickel wound because the sound too much when you slide the hand over the neck (personal taste).
for Semihollow
Gives a guitar, at my case PRS SE SH Custom 22 a natural sound I was looking for. A sound of a guitar. You can hear that the piece of wood in your hands is really made of wood, not any other material with electronics!
Great sound without the squeaks
I do a lot of recording sessions and needed strings to prevent squeaks. These half-rounds do the job nicely. I have 10's and 11's. They sound pretty close to a normal round wound steal electric guitar sting but without the squeaks and more comfortable to play.
Super strings
Love these strings. Super clear and nice sound. Feels fantastic and make no noise when sliding. If you record guitar and don't like annoying slide sounds, these are a must. Cost a little bit extra but they are more than worth it. Wish I would have known about these a long time ago but just happy that I discovered them :-)
Great strings
These strings really don't feel all that different from standard round wounds, however, the reduction in fret ware and the almost complete absence of string noise is incredible. I've found these last longer as well, because when wiping down the string less is left behind in the gaps between the winds of the wire. Great for use in the studio - where string noise can become a real pain.
