Daddario EXL148 5-stars Reviews
Favourite strings
I just love these. Great sound, feel simply great.
The thicker lowest string makes it great for drop C tuning indeed! The sound is fuller than that of thinner strings, and I seem to control the strings better than thinner ones, too.
Responds well to pinch harmonics. Also the price is noteworthy; it's so low compared to other strings from Daddario! While they are just as great!
I will keep on getting these for sure.
Great strings
Great strings for Drop B , also usable for Drob A# but they get a little bit floppy.
Excellent for B, C and drop B tunings.
In the end I found my string set for C tuning. Tension is a little bit high for my jackson RR but it has an excellent tone and intonation. I strung them more than a month ago. They are still in good condition....
Great strings :)
I use these on my tele, love em for Drop C tuning! It's a great set and I love Daddario, so I will always buy these guys ;)
I've been using these strings for a couple of years now,
and I'm super happy about them.
They're affordable, last a long time and they sound great!
The suggested tuning is drop C, however I've used them succesfully in drop B and drop A# (of course, the lower you go, the less tension you have).
Highly suggested
Same goodness as always
I knew exactly what to expect from these strings and they were the exact same as every other time. I am using these on a tuned down guitar so I need a heavier gauge than usual. Same great Daddario quality as always. Would defiantly recommend for use on drop tuned guitars.
my favourite dropB tuning strings.
Best strings for Drop C
I use them for my ESP Viper Standard in Drop C tuning. Excellent sound, bright and clear. My go to strings for recording music.
Classics, not much else to say
Would recommend these strings to all metal lovers.
Best string make
Love this brand of strings. These ones are great for dropped tuning.
Great strings for drop tuners
I've only recently tried these strings out, since i needed some more mass and tightness compared to the Daddario EXL117's (.11-.56)
Let me start by saying that i was surprised at how these strings felt when the guitar was all adjusted and tuned up.
I'm currently using these string in Drop C on a 25.5 scale length guitar, and they're really tight on there, but not so much that you feel like you're struggling to play.
They are a step up from the EXL117's indeed, and i'd even feel safe to use these strings for even lower tunings like Drop B or even C standard.
I should mention that i play mostly metal, so having thick and chunky strings really adds a nice feel and sound to it.
In the end, i can highly recommend these strings if you're looking for some meaty strings for drop tunings, or a step up from Daddarios EXL177's, like me.
Try them, and you surely wont be disappointed.
Used for Drop B on a Standard Scale length Guitar
These string just worked perfectly for me, I had to do some adjusting to my Floyd Rose to ensure that the Intonation was perfect for the new gauges but after some simple work it ended up great. There is not much else to really be said; Just awesome strings that do the Job!
Daddario EXL148 (12-60)
Best strings for drop down tunings. If you're playing C#, C or even B - these strings are for you.
These are nickel plated steel strings (steel is the brightest sounding, but nickel coating gives them a little bit of "darkening", so won't be so bright as 100% steel strings).
I bought something like 10 of these and you just can't go wrong with 12-60 + the price compared to similar brands blow them off roof.
I've used them quite a lot recently and they have never failed me down, giving the fact that once I had problems with different brand and broken strings in the middle of show.
Get one of these, you won't regret it, trust me!

Use this strings ! They sound clear and frsh for along time! good quality and they doesnt breaks when you not playing to long. for me the bettest string ive playing in the past !
Thick strings for low tunings!
Guitarplayers always tend to try something new. In my case, I discovered the world of lower tunings. I tuned my Ibanez RG1570 to drop B and of course, new strings and a setup were needed, to make it playable
As a long time D'Addario player these were my choice of strings for this tuning. This set is recommended for drop C tuning, but I found it more enjoyable one halfstep lower. It just sounds and feels right!
Especially the lower strings provide a lot of punch and definition, which is needed, when you tune your sixstring that low.
On the other side, the higher strings still feel very balanced, so soloing is no problem!
I recommend this set to every player, who plays in drop B or C.
Heavy strings!
These strings are good and bright without sounding girly; I use these for C-standard or Drop B / Bb tuning. As always, D'addario are good and reliable, take a good battering and last well against corrosion.
Using these for drop B.
I've tried alot of different strings from different manufactureres and D'addario are the absolute best.
No other kind of strings beat the feel, durability and sound of them.
thick strings for thick sound!
Since I tuned one of my guitars to dropped B I was in need of a set of string which fit this tuning. D'Addario recommend this set for dropped C tuning, but i found them too thick for this. But this is personal taste.
Brutal riffing is a pleasure and the sound is super fat while still being comfortable.
The durability is okay. If you clean them after playing, they last longer. Intonation was no problem and my vibrato never goes out of tune, since i use the strings. Even crazy divebombaction is no problem. Pretty cool! Until now, I don't have the problem with breaking strings! Another guitarist from my are is lamenting about this set and the strings breaking all the time, but MAYBE it comes from playing an old Ibanez GIO guitar without proper setup made.
So finally, if you need thick strings for lower tunings, give these a try! You won't regret it!
Great for Drop C
Most string sets aren't well balanced, this is known by a lot of people especially those of us who play in non standard and drop tunings.
However this pack is pretty much spot on for Drop C. Granted that it would likely appeal more to those who prefer quite a lot of tension in their strings, especially on the low C. It has a slight disadvantage of making bends on the higher register a bit tougher to pull off. For a Metal rhythm player like myself, this isn't an issue, and solos are definitely manageable.
If you like a lot of tension for tight, fast riffing, these will do you well. If you are a lead player spending most of your time on the higher end of things, you might want to consider mixing in some lighter top strings or get used to the tension, which isn't so bad as you're likely dropped at least a step down.
These even hold up well for drop B tuning. Great strings, usual D'Addario quality.
Probably my go-to gauge on a 25.5" guitar for Drop B. Great quality strings and packing, and with the coloured ball ends, it's that little bit harder to get your strings muddled!
