Just got this set for my Schecter Hellraiser Hybrid PT-7. As I don't have much experience with 7 strings, I usually buy different sets of strings from different brands featuring different gauges so I can have an idea. I finally had the chance to restring my guitar and tried this set. First, I went for A standard. However, I did not like the tension so much. After having tried this tuning with NYXL 1164, I decided to go back to Bb standard tuning and I must say I have been really enjoying playing my 7 string with this tuning and tension. It's really inspiring to play and these string absolutely sound great. One thing regarding the price tag though: Although these strings are pretty much priced as premium-ish, I think they are not so different than a regular set of strings. They...

I came across to these Boomers just as an experiment with different string gauges trying to find the best and comfortable for me to play. Because I mostly play in lower than standard tunings the first criteria was to find not very thick gauge strings but that could make good tension with quite low action on my guitar. I normally tune to standard A or Open Cmin9 with low G they stay relatively in tune for all the string bends I do when play guitar. It is also handy for those who are hard picking player as I try to be. I find that these strings to be quite loud, which is good if you need more output of your guitar. I've bought these to replace the Elixir's I had on my Ibanez Frix7 FEAH. I find the 10's from Elixir on a 25,5" scale quite stiff and heavy, very difficult to bend and manipulate, so I was searching for some solution. Good old D'Addario did not dissapoint. The feel is really as of uncoated strings really nice and easy to play, which is how it should be. Guitar strings shouldn't make playing the instrument even more difficult for the player. I have these for two weeks on my guitar so cannot really say how much would they last, although on the package is written 3-5 times longer. I guess we'll see. I am curios how would these compare with Elixir, being advertised as coated as well. Deffinately will update my review after few weeks, to add my thoughts about the life of these. So...

This seven string set of Ernie Ball are made in the USA and are used by many famous or infmous guitar-playes, today they are still my favourite brand of guitar strings as they are not very expensive, but last a long time and also stay in tune for a long time. The sounds i bright, with a thight and controlled bottom end that makes your guitars shine and get all the presence you need to be upfront and get the focus on it. Especially for Rock and Metal Music, where you want your guitars with lots of bite and and presence, there is nothing worser then a set of dead and dul sounding strings, to avoid this, you should try out those strings

I'm a recent convert to flatwound strings, the tone of which I find really classy. You'll maybe know that flatwound strings are becoming very popular with electric basses again, the reason being that they give a smoother, very punchy and warm tone which is much more focused in the fundamentals. You are maybe thinking that with a guitar they would be too "jazzy", for a lack of better terms...well, let me tell you that they are much more versatile than you would think, they have a nice full tone which is to die for even with distortions and overdriven tones, too! This set lets you experiment even with lower tunings, thanks to the bigger gauge and higher tension. I love these

It was an experiment to try quite light set of strings for my 7-string guitar. These strings fits perfectly for can be regular tuning or half down and even one whole step down and will stay fine with normal tension. For low tunings such as Drop to G for bottom string will make that string just a bit sloppy especially on upper six strings, however not that bad. If you have guitar with 25.5? or 26.5? scale neck this could be worth to try in search of perfect tension. Or to use it for 6-string guitar by throwing away third string and set becomes perfect for tunings such as Drop A (AGCFAD). This set is very good for those who consider himself as 10-46 player but who need good tension on lower seventh string without going to heavy gauges. They're cheap, have a nice & bright RnR growl, and can last for a very long time if soaked regularly with Dunlop Formula65 String Cleaner (or possibly other brands). For playing live, it is probably wiser to change them after every show, but of course YMMV. I also really like the tension balance of the 7 string set with my 25.5' scale guitar in standard tuning - the B string feels just fine to me, although some might find it a bit too soft. I didn't try this set with a 26.5' guitar, but taking my 8 string as a reference, I would expect the 0.10 high E to feel a bit shrill and would probably go for the lighter set.

Pros: -Corrosion-resistant, indeed. My sweat can destroy some other strings, even those, which also advertised as "corrosion-resistant". But these will last forever without any sign of tarnishing. I used these sets for 3 month max, though. -Great high-gain tone, and long-lasting as well. -Consistent quality. Never had an issue with them. -Perfect gauges for drop C on 25.5" scale (if you'll use .56 as a sixth string and don't use .46 at all). Might as well work for other drop tunings on other scale length guitars. Cons: -Price -I personally don't like the clean tone of these, it's too bright and rattly. I use to play mostly on Dunlop, Gibson and Dadario strings for more than 10 years. I decided to try HB strings just for fun. Then I realized that: 1. It sounds like Dunlop nickel-plated strings 2. It stays in tune 3. It sounds normal approx. 3-5 weeks like Dunlop nickel-plated strings (I play guitar in average 4 hours per day. If you play less, it will sound ok last longer) For me HB strings are not worse then Dunlop, Gibson or Dadario, but costs 2-3 times less. I have found a way to get D-drop and C-drop strings for a really good price. I buy HB EL-7 10-56 and HB 11-52 strings and compose from this sets D-drop (10-52) and C-drop (11-56) sets. I have already used 6 sets of HB strings and did not have any problems.
