Agressive Squelchy Sound
Sounds amazing when using the right sound sources. For the aggressive sounds like the BIA it's amazing, for more soothing sounds I would pick an other filter. In general great!
A whole lot of bang for your buck
For ⬠88, this module is a steal. The filter functionality sounds great. The frequency knob handles nicely, and allows you to switch between HP and LP filtering smoothly. The CV inputs work like a charm as well. No separate outputs for LP and HP filters, but for this price, that shouldn't be a reason to not buy this module.
EDP goodness
Excellent resonance and overdrive, very similar in sound to the EDP Wasp synth. Good variety of CV & knob controls as well.
Great special filter
This filter has a very unique character when pushed. I use it mainly in conjunction with other modules like a Serge ResEQ to process external audio. High resonance and low frequencies can create gnarly broken sounds full of character which I love. Great for drones and ambiences. It may not suit everyone so listening to demos or trying one is recommended. Great bang for the buck in my opinion.
Classic filter
Classic wasp filter I found it a little quieter than expected and the build quality wasn’t fantastic.. one input needed repair from the start . But it’s a classic and well worth getting
Great gnarly filter
This is definitely a filter with attitude.
With resonance at 70% and up, it's showing its character by adding something new to the signal. I don't even know how to describe it... distortion? It's a very specific one. It's not nasty, it's musical in its own way.
The lower the resonance, the less character it has, so it doesn't need to be used as a gnarly filter all the time.
I didn't push it yet with a high input signal to see what would happen.
My only criticism is that the knobs are stiff, which makes fast tweaking harder in comparison to other filters. It's still possible though. It just requires more energy if you want to tweak it like a 303 filter (which means all the time).
filter with a lot of character
This filter has been one of my favorites for the past year. It really comes to life when you modulate the cutoff frequency with an LFO or sequencer. Even sending accent gates to CV2 can make for some interesting rhythms. You can dial in a lot of low-end "growl" and bring it in for some really great sounding breakdowns.
A classic filter.
I love the sound of this filter and so do most people because you can find this filter in most eurorack setups. Its only down side is that it doesn't self oscillate but otherwise, for the money a no brainer.
Wasp, the one and only
This filter is a staple module, and for good reason. Robust build and signature sound unlike any other. While I find I like integrating it into my synth patches, I have found that it serves as an excellent guitar "wah" effect when combined with an expression pedal controller. The resonance does not self-oscillate without modifications, but especially when using with my guitar setup this is a welcome feature.
Dirty monster
Love the growl and noise on this particularly as you lower the resonance. This makes some wonderful noises when coupled with my Erica Basslines module. Nice.
