Agressive Squelchy Sound

Sounds amazing when using the right sound sources. For the aggressive sounds like the BIA it's amazing, for more soothing sounds I would pick an other filter. In general great!

A whole lot of bang for your buck

For € 88, this module is a steal. The filter functionality sounds great. The frequency knob handles nicely, and allows you to switch between HP and LP filtering smoothly. The CV inputs work like a charm as well. No separate outputs for LP and HP filters, but for this price, that shouldn't be a reason to not buy this module.

EDP goodness

Excellent resonance and overdrive, very similar in sound to the EDP Wasp synth. Good variety of CV & knob controls as well.

Great special filter

This filter has a very unique character when pushed. I use it mainly in conjunction with other modules like a Serge ResEQ to process external audio. High resonance and low frequencies can create gnarly broken sounds full of character which I love. Great for drones and ambiences. It may not suit everyone so listening to demos or trying one is recommended. Great bang for the buck in my opinion.

Great gnarly filter

This is definitely a filter with attitude.

With resonance at 70% and up, it's showing its character by adding something new to the signal. I don't even know how to describe it... distortion? It's a very specific one. It's not nasty, it's musical in its own way.

The lower the resonance, the less character it has, so it doesn't need to be used as a gnarly filter all the time.

I didn't push it yet with a high input signal to see what would happen.

My only criticism is that the knobs are stiff, which makes fast tweaking harder in comparison to other filters. It's still possible though. It just requires more energy if you want to tweak it like a 303 filter (which means all the time).

A classic filter.

I love the sound of this filter and so do most people because you can find this filter in most eurorack setups. Its only down side is that it doesn't self oscillate but otherwise, for the money a no brainer.

Wasp, the one and only

This filter is a staple module, and for good reason. Robust build and signature sound unlike any other. While I find I like integrating it into my synth patches, I have found that it serves as an excellent guitar "wah" effect when combined with an expression pedal controller. The resonance does not self-oscillate without modifications, but especially when using with my guitar setup this is a welcome feature.

Dirty monster

Love the growl and noise on this particularly as you lower the resonance. This makes some wonderful noises when coupled with my Erica Basslines module. Nice.

I love of the quality sound of this module

I love the crispy sound of this module, this module is the number 1 priority if you need a good filter in your eurorack system.

Very good filter

I have a bunch of filters and this one gets used a lot, very good when over driven.

A one-of-a-kind filter!

As pretty much everyone is suggesting, this filter is really unique. I find it most interesting when used as a low-pass, though it works great as a high-pass and band-pass as well. No self-oscillation, but it gets crazy agressive and wobbly at high resonance levels - and this is what its known for. Nice to have a build-in attenuator for the second CV input. The aesthetic is simply fantastic, thanks to its juicy yellow color the module really stands out among others. The only thing it could use would be a CV input for resonance or filter type mix, but even without that the module is still amazing. Super cheap, too! Do not hesitate, just get this beauty.

Angry like a wasp

Resonance doesn't procude a high pitched buzz so much as an angry gurgling. Unusual sound, which I love but you probably want this a supplemental filter to provide some different colour. Very good build quality and the colours are briliant.

Would have been nice to have a CV for resonance but I suppose at the price point it's fair enough this wasn't included (also may have been hard to fit on the front panel).

(on)voorspelbaar en vuil

Nice filter with unique sound

Nice looking module in black and yellow version.

I really like this quite aggressive sounding filter, especially with higher resonance.

A-124 vcf5

Whats not to like about this sexy black an yellow version of the A-124 wasp filter. this is the best filter for the price. with a sound of its own. iv fallen in love with this filter so much so i bought two. its that nice. bassline cut thro the mix with this filter. it wont self oscillate but thats its charm, and if you want to get dirty it will go there. top filter would recommend if any one was looking for another filter.

Very nice filter with a lot of personality

I cannot compare with a real Wasp filter, since I never used one before, but I really dig this version Doepfer did. The filter has nice character, and can give lot of extra harmonics when you increase levle or resonance to maximim setting. It growl, chirps and scrapes, and is a versatile and useful tool in my rack. It is a bit less interesting for the cleaner sounds, but there are other filters for that. :)

Unique sounding filter

That is very nice and unique sounding filter from Doepfer.

Quality is as expected - German rock solid built. I like the new color approach (especially for WASP, Thru-zero and SEM modules) and really glad all faceplates of Doepfer are made in same way as usually - i.e. they are brushed or powder coated aluminum with quality screen-print (not a cheapo faceplates from PCB material)!

Standard carton box packaging with screws and module in bubble wrap.

No CV over resonance (should try to use extra VCA for that but not sure if that will work in same way - probably have to try with bandpass feedback as well.

My first module.

Bought this so that I was on the 'Modular' path. Very good filter especially when the input gain is up full and it's slightly overdriven. Pity we can't CV the Q but you can't have everything.

A beautifully unique sounding Filter

I have recently purchased this Filter as it was recommended to me by another musician and i am not dissapointed.

This Filter is so unique in features and for the price you can't go wrong, especially when you turn the resonance all the way up and play around with the input volume. It delivers so unique harmonies of the resonnance that sometimes feel it is modulated by white noise.

Another incredible feature is that it is HP,BP,Notch and LP with 2 differnt outputs so you can use one filter with 2 different settings at the same time.

The only slight downsize is that when you use the mix between the HP and LP the signal is quite low and need to be amplified slightly.

Lastly i would recommend getting the Black and Yellow Special edition that really looks cool like a......Wasp :)

Lastly i would like to point out that the quality of this unit and Doepfer units is excellent. The units are made from very good quality parts and all the soldering is done like it would have been in the 80's.

Overall an excellent product and a must for every modular system owner looking at an unusual filter.

Get the special edition one while it's still available.
