I love it
Seriously, I love this pedal. I don't know why it gets a bad rep, I even found the top boost useful. it works so good in my setup. I have several amps I use as a clean platform and I make sure that my clean isn't too sparkly.
it even works good in low gain settings and is useful to get bluesy tones. plus it is built like a tank as expected from ehx
Good for the price
The overall build quality was surprisingly good, the extra feature of top boost was completely useless as it sounds like hot garbage when switched on, but otherwise a very nice sounding distortion pedal. Works best with metal.
Nice metal distortion with lots of range
This metal distorion sounds quite modern and can go from a nice 80's-ish metal sound to a modern sound that can be suitable for Mastodon or Nickleback-like sounds. The metal enclosure is very sturdy and is built to last for a long time. The 'top-boost' might sound very harsh when it's not dialed in properly and needs to be adjusted very delicately to prevent your ears from hurting a lot. The EQ on this pedal is very broad.
Amazing metal sound
I've read a bit about this pedal and always compared it to the Boss Metal Zone, since these 2 pedals are the most highly recommended pedals for the Metal sound. This pedal has an amazing sound, really hard to explain. The tone can be easily changed by 'Low' 'Mid' Treble' knobs to your liking. I usually prefer more bass and mids rather than highs. I don't use the 'boost' button, I guess it's useful only for specific scenarios, like the one in the product description. The only drawback is that when connected to a mixer it introduces hum. I'm a beginner but from what I've read this is somewhat normal since I use a cheap power supply ,no DI box and no noise gate pedal.
Good stuff
Pretty accurate equalizer, you can tune
the sound you need.
Sounds good, but not perfect.
Everything suits, I use at home and on stage.
This is a great metal distortion pedal. Doesn't really soften up, it really is dark and has a powerful punch behind it, especially when the boost is engaged. If you're looking for a pedal that you want to have very dark heavy solo's with, artists such as John Frusciante and David Gilmour have used this pedal in their work. But it's great to get 80's thrash metal tones, like early Metallica.
Generic Metal Pedal
I used this pedal at home on my early guitar steps for a istortion source pluged into a Roland Cube 30 and i stoped using it when i became more demanting of my sound. From my point of view its a good begginers pedal with limited sound choises. It works for metal but not much for anything else.
so metal
this is a powerful distortion pedal, only have the gain set to about 3 on it! I consider it more of a practice pedal rather than a gigging pedal. As far as build quality goes it is a strong metal box and seems unbreakable, just like all Electro Harmonix pedals! Handy 3 band eq on it aswell and the boost button makes it more treble/mid boosted.
Il metal giusto
Ottimo pedale per ricreare sound metal, inoltre ha diversi settaggi utili per ogni evenienza, materiali ottimi consigliato il suo utilizzo......il boost permete assoli
Metal Muff
This pedal is really good sounding.
Tons of good stuff for Metal.
Most amazing part is that if you roll off the distortion, pedal is so smooth taht you can play blues with it.
This is now my main distortion pedal;
